It's awesome that you actually made it out to 8.5km. That's what it says on the box so I'm impressed that it actually made it that far. Just had a big firware update for the follow modes, going to check them out finally. I've already got this drone and I'm already more than happy with it, but it was cool to see it fly out that far. Thanks for that! I'm being super conservative with mine, I don't run mine lower than 10% because I hope to be using this drone for years to come.

Lithium polymer batteries can be taken down to absolute minimum voltage of 2.9v per cell. Even though app is screaming back low voltage, they're will be some safety factor built into battery management. All down to the software parameters. The cheaper drones wouldn't have made it back because of tolerance inaccuracies. Another top demo from Dustin.

You know how to push it Dustin. Good review flight. I'm glad to see the Fimi seems to be a good drone. My experience wasn't good. Put the Fimi up one day, lost connection then seconds later the app crashed. I had to completely exit the app and restart it on my Android phone. Unfortunately reconnection was never accomplished. I was able to get GPS coordinates from the flight logs but after a diligent two hours search the drone wasn't located. Because of the app crashing I suspect the coordinates were wrong.

Nice how you got it that far, i coud barely do 3kms before loosing fpv and controller signal on my fimi2020. Great that you can push to 0%battery and not damage it being above 3.5v per cell, learned alot from your vids. Yes it is very worrying that it takes a while to regain Fpv after you loose it. Appreciate your review much tnx.
@dhaxside4 жыл бұрын
Pls be careful and avoid goin to 0% on your battery, i felt safe goin down to 0% based on this review and my drone displayed a "Damaged battery warning and cannot be used anymore" and only at 7 cycles at that. Not blaming you but just a friendly warning to others, now when this happens you can no longer charge that particular battery and flashes 2 lights. The board inside the battery prevents it from charging again and im still looking for a fix for this. Read someone replaced the board from another battery damaged from a crash and it worked.
@DustinDunnill4 жыл бұрын
@dhaxside how low did you drop your voltage? Did you fly at 0% for a long time? I haven't had this issue at all with first and second gen X8SE even when flying for a bit at 0%.
@dhaxside4 жыл бұрын
Just a sec, i was just flying it around the lot then noticed it tried to land and i had to throttle up twice so it didnt then shortly a message appeared on screen saying Battery damage and land asap. You can search the Fimi groups and see similar instances happened to others. Mostly because of flying to 0% battery or close to it.

@epsonexxon1264 жыл бұрын
I wonder if installing the signal boosters during flight will do the job?
@gregoryhall92764 жыл бұрын
@@epsonexxon126 It could help, but I think the situation would be the same but with larger numbers...the antenna on the drone likely is boresighted directly down. When you are flying out, the main lobe is pointed toward you, when you return its pointed away...so you will always get better reception flying away at full stick. That's my hypothesis anyways.

THIS is the way a drone should behave when running low on battery voltage. DJI (Mavic 2 Pro) will sacrifice the entire drone in order to save the battery, and it does that even when the voltage is nowhere near 3.0 volts, the voltage where a LIPO battery starts to sustain permanent damage.

Dustin, We watch you do these long range tests in that same rural area. It would be great to see you test the same drone in an urban area, so people can compare and get a realistic idea how far or not these fly in different areas. Many are getting less than 2 miles or less before losing the signal, and they have no idea if their short range (relative to yours) is normal in their environment with a lot of interference, or if something is wrong with their drone or controller. You're fortunate to have the side of large volcano to test off from at relatively very high altitude above ground and beyond a lot of radio noise.
@DustinDunnill4 жыл бұрын
I mention "your milage will vary depending on interference" in these range tests. I don't really feel comfortable flying in urban areas any longer since it would consist of flying over many homes and people. There is really no danger to anyone doing these tests in the boonies which I believe is the more responsible approach 🍻🤙

Once again, you didn't start reducing altitude till you arrived at the home point - which is a sub-optimal strategy. Out of RTH, Fimis will generally start to reduce altitude when the battery gets down to 13% or so, if memory serves, but you can fight it with throttle input. We can see from Brazilian videos that the 2022 signal can reach at least 10.5km, everything always depends on ambient conditions. It would have been useful to show the battery parameters view before and after you landed. The record file playback shows a very small cell delta, which is good, and voltage of 3.59v per cell which should not damage the packs. Conclusion - the Fimi battery percentage is conservative, and their batteries generally have good quality, well matched cells with equal internal resistance.
