This a much-needed video, thanks for sharing that Khang. I could have used this method on the one I'm growing now before it got out of control, lol. Sorry to hear about your AeroGarden malfunction. My Bounty did that too, and they replaced the base part free of charge. I think it had gone slightly over the warranty period but they did it anyway.

Hello Khang Starr, I just discovered your channel and inmediatly subscribed ! I am a chilli plants lover. This is my first season and I am happy but not completely succesful...I paid the rookie's rent !...I had 5 plants ( I sowed December 2017) , they growed well, but when warm comes some plagues attacked them. I've lost 2 and I cured 3 with insecticide once and after with Neem oil....3 survived, but only one healthy. I am having fruits ( Chilli Serrano variety), but next season I will try to prevent plagues. Thanks very much for your excellent and instructional videos. Best wishes from Spain.

Nice! I've had many failures and still do every season. My plants usually make it through towards the end of the season.

This is such an interesting and informative video. It's my first year growing chillis. I will try this on one of my plants. I'm in the UK so our growing season is short so maybe not the best idea, but I have quite a lot of plants to experiment on.

I have 2 plants outside that the rabbits got to. On one they definitely got the stem but on the other just the top leaves. The one where they just got the top leaves looks just like your plant haha. Nature getting its fimming on as well. It did set back both plants as my 3rd plant with no prune or FIM is setting fruit. But the plant that didnt get topped doesnt look like it will produce as much overall as the one that was FIMed. Cant wait to harvest. Great video Khang!

Nice, I kind of ended up accidentally ended up doing this for my Aerogarden peppers which seemed like they needed pruning except I cut all of the top off. So far so good but next time I'll try this FIM.

Thanks for a great instructional video. Would it be right to say that topping is better for plants intended to be planted outdoors, and that FIM is better for plants intended to remain indoors? Thanks
@andrewhigginbottom65256 жыл бұрын
When the outdoor season comes around I'm going to grow two plants from the same batch of seeds, one FIM, one left alone. I'm curious as to which method suits outdoors too.

Would you be able to do a video on moving a pepper that was started in the Aerogarden to outside?
@donaldslayton27695 жыл бұрын
To soil or hydroponic? You can plant the root basket in the dirt. Or move to a different hydroponic bucket
@TwinkleX04 жыл бұрын
I know you said there's no need to clear leaves if the plant is outside under direct sunlight. I was wondering is this the same for pepper plants grown on a windowsill, or should I clear some of the larger leaves that may be in the way? Also wondering if foil would work for behind the plant in reflecting sunlight? I think I saw it in one of your videos but I've never heard you speak about it. Thanks for sharing all your knowledge thus far.

thank u that's my favorite method..traditional pruning has a cult following. but I think u can get tall bushy plants it FIMing topping in my experience u get super short bushy plants

I've grown marijuana many times over the years and I knew how to fim those plants . This year I'm growing pepper plants outdoors in containers and didn't realise I could do this . Great video , I just subscribed khang. I'm getting a grow light before fall and I'm planning on Growing indoors this winter. Do you have any indoor light set ups you recommend? How many watts per plant for peppers? In Colorado I kept 3 marijuana plants under a 1000 watt HPS .

Nice how to video Khang, I like the updates shown around days, 1, 5, 10, and 12. So would you suggest FIM'ing plus old leaf removal as best for the Aerogardens? I am wondering about pinning down branches to keep the pepper plants spreading out low and wide.
@KhangStarr5 жыл бұрын
For aegrogarden, you definitely must FIM/Top and prune. I always keep the light 2-3 inches above the plant at the most. This helps reduce the chances of them becoming leggy. Pinning down the branches is good, until they grow outside the light perimeter and you must cut the branches.

@Beltloop292 жыл бұрын
Do you still practice FIMming? And you mentioned that you wouldn't do this outside right after you cleared some area above a lower section. Did you mean you don't clear the lower section outside or you don't FIM outside?

They both work similar ways. Either/or if you have two plants do both. It's not a huge deal, prunning encurages growth

Love your videos . But I need your help ? Why do my pepper flowers drop from the stalk . Need a fix please . Keep them video's coming
@andrewt90166 жыл бұрын
If some have set already, the plant might drop others that are not needed, but if none are pollinated, you might have a fertilising problem... (I have this problem with a courgette at the moment, a new flower every 3 days, then drops... grrr)

This method in figs is called "pinching" and is resulting in new branching and forces the figplant to fruit.

After you cut it put cinnamon on the cuts. It's like a Band-Aid, it helps healing faster. Keeps from bleeding out. Especially if you're going to cut a big stem. Thanks for the information I wondered how you kept them from growing so tall. What is your yield when it is time to harvest?
