FINA has 'taken a stand' to 'protect fairness in women's sport'

Tasmanian Liberal Senator Claire Chandler says it's an "incredibly historic day" after swimming's world governing body FINA voted to restrict the participation of transgender athletes in elite women's competitions.
Under the decision, male to female athletes will be ineligible for elite women's competitions if they have not completed their transition by the age of 12.
"Finally, we have a peak sporting body that has taken a stand and said that we must protect fairness in women's sport," Ms Chandler told Sky News host Rowan Dean.

Yes, but even male fetuses hav e slower heart rates than females due to the larger heart size. There are still physical advantages before age 12. Males are not and can never be females and it still, would not be a level playing field. Children start puberty before 12, most do.

Our media commentators have carried on about this as though it was so difficult to sort out transgenders in sport. Now, FINA have come up with the only answer that should have been decided 2 years ago, at least. Congratulations to the Swimming organizing body, this is a victory for common sense and fairness. It is totally wrong for women born as men to compete against women born as women simply because the fact of biology means that males will always run faster, swim faster and so on than women and therefore they will always have an in built advantage. I certainly have no objection to transgender people competing in sport, just they must compete against each other with women born as men competing against other women born as men and vice versa. This means that there will be total fairness with everybody having an equal chance to win and do well.

Male puberty will not be enough but it's way better than the current situation. The third category is a step in the right direction. Of course, no one will watch it but that's fine.

I suppose it's something to applaud, but it is a demonstration of the negotiation tactic applied successfully. The pushed for something so obviously unreasonable, and even got it for a while! Now they've been able to secure the fallback position. Perhaps some of the damage that was done over the last few years can be undone, but with the new fallback position, it would probably be 2 decades before evidence starts to emerge showing statistically whether transgenders with male DNA/genetics competing in female sports have a clear advantage. The "Clear line" that should be drawn is DNA/genetics.

If you would go back to the either the 1920'or 30's they had the same issue with a "female/male athletic. It's an actual case. Look it up but nowadays it gotten out of hand 🤦🏻🤦🏻‍♀️🤷‍♀️😡
