I would like to see how you sharpen that bolo. Do you bring the stone to the edge?

Hey Michael, I brought the edge to the stone on a benchtop and worked it in sections. I don't have a way to isolate angle very well if I take stone to edge, so I do the laborious benchtop hand sharpening with angle wedges. I could upload a video some time if there was interest in it.

@@homeslicesharpening when I sharpen a condor bushman parang (convex), I have convexed stones which I bring to the edge in a circular motion, the same with a convex axe. The final part is a micro bevel on a flat stone, edge to the stone. The first part keeps the grind and the second part keeps a keen edge. One day I’ll get proper belt system.

I've seen in your footage that you hack twohanded. That is strange as for me. I think you should utilise the speed of the tool more.

I think it depends if you are talking real world experience and practical usage or stating what you have heard from the industry and read in forums ? What tools do you use and what kinds of vegetation are you using these on ?

Fair enough man. I definitely utilize one and 2 handed chops depending on positioning, handle size, the balance of the tool, and whether the grip in my one hand is getting tired. There are tools that work better one-handed, the kukri in this series is an example, where you don't shoot for maximum velocity but just let the one handed wrist momentum "nibble" the material away gradually. Most blades with a lot of forward weight can achieve increased penetration with a descending 2-handed overhead chop, as speed and body mechanics work together with gravity. That said, I am just a dude chopping trees in the woods on the internet, so there could definitely be a better way.
