I’m actually in the process of rebuilding a 5.9 for my Duster and your videos are very helpful. I haven’t messed with transmissions much but you make it look somewhat easy. Thanks for the video.

If you're capable of rebuilding an engine, you can do a transmission. I actually think a transmission is a bit easier. Just take your time and be deliberate about checking and measuring every piece, which you have to do on an engine as well.

So, I have two spare 727's that I bought extremely cheap and would love to go through one before installing with another 360 I'm going to put in a 1989 W150. Did you list a rebuild kit that you used in any of the videos in this series? Also, in the powerwagon you mentioned, will you be rebuilding transfer case by chance? Or maybe you have and I just haven't gotten to that vid yet. GREAT FREAKING SERIES MAN!!! I may screw it up, but it won't be from any of your instructions.

I didn't buy a kit, I got individual parts from Cobra Transmission. I do plan on rebuilding the NP205 - though I'd like to find a spare and rebuild it while the truck is still drivable.

Hey man, I know I'm asking a lot of questions. But I'm almost done. Hopefully. Did u purposely NOT lube the roller bearing on the tail-shaft? thanks bro.
@YoshimoshiGarage7 ай бұрын
It won't hurt to lube it, but it doesn't spin until you're in gear, so the pump will have lubricated it before you start driving it.

Been following your channel for a while. Having a problem rebuild my transmission 72 7 I've lost reverse The valve body attaches frount where under pump fuild the transmission. I have a stripped out bolt. Can that cause the problem?
@dingbat45962 жыл бұрын
You obviously have more experience with mopar transmissions than I do. Problem; I rebuilt my transmission, along the same lines as you did an A 727 that sits behind a 400 big block in a 71 plymouth duster. I have NO passing or kickdown gear. I can hand shift and 1st through 3rd are there with no slippage. I adjusted the throttle with the kickdown lever so when carb is wide open trans lever is fully depressed back. NO passing gear or kickdown. Also trans shifts through gears really fast, shifts from first to third by 35 mph. I have pulled the tail shaft and checked and cleaned the govenor, also dropped the transmission pan and pulled the valve body taking it completely apart noting where the ball bearings go. Still the same... One questio, this valve body is out of a RV transmission, would that matter? HELP!!!
@YoshimoshiGarage2 жыл бұрын
The behavior sounds like misadjusted kickdown to me, but you say you've checked that so my next guess (and it's just a guess) is low pressure for some reason. Maybe a bad/pinched/backward seal or something? Different valve bodies will have different shift characteristics, like exactly when and how hard the shifts are, but none should have if shifting all the way to 3rd that soon.

Hi mate, which master rebuild kit did you go with, and did you end up installing the Transgo shift kit (was it no.2 or no.3??). Great job by the way, love the video and thanks for documenting it all!

I actually put the kit together piecemeal from Cobra Transmission. I did put in the Transgo kit, but my computer crapped out and I lost the footage.

Interesting how you mentioned you were using parts from a B&M Transkit. The Transkit comes with their shift kit yet I did not see any mods to the rear servo, accumulator (rod) or the cupped orifice that goes into the direct clutch passage in the case. Were you going to save those parts for the other TF build you were going to do?
@YoshimoshiGarage9 ай бұрын
Yes, I decided to save the kit parts for another build
