After fully rebuilding our oil drinking BMW N52 engine, its time to swap out the old engine and put in the new one. In this video we take a look at how to disconnect the transmission, exhaust, intake and a few other bits. And then we take out our old engine! Please remember to disconnect the battery and be careful when removing all the plugs, relays and other connectors. They are brittle and can break easily... if that happens, it won't be an easy fix!

Yeah doing my best, it wayyyy more work than you realize it... Also now you wait on small parts like the AC o-rings, receiver drier, small gaskets that you wouldn't think of. It's taking forever. I hope these videos can help others who are doing this swap so they can see all the tiny fiddly things that other KZbinrs will never show. It's more a tutorial than anything else 👍🏼

Nice video. I'm working on a 07 530xi. First time working on a bmw. It was really scary at first, but ones I keep pulling thinks off is getting better. One think I hate is the crankcase vent plastic hoses, I which it was a better aftermarket upgrade, to remove that stuff out. Also there's a lot wiring to remove just to remove the intake manifold. It's crazy but I'm loving bmw at this point.

@@buildanddrive nothing yet, but I want to do a ccv delete i don't really know if is just a thing, but I'm thinking on do a catcan thing or do a research it has to be something out there to replace for good all this plastic things on the car. Idk, have you heard something like that? Like I say I never work with bmw before. I'm just looking into ideas

So I have one big question.. i have look everywhere but no ones talks about other way to take the oilpan out with out removing the subframe. So my question is, is it possible to lift the engine up by unbolt the engine mounts and jack the engine up and using a engine bar on top for support?? That will save sooooo much time to replace gasket. Thank you! ✌

Can remove the engine without take out the intake manifold?

Yes... remove the entire front subframe and drop the engine with the suspension and hubs out the bottom.

@@buildanddrive thanks for your reply. Thats really low mileage. My N52 2011 has 125k miles. I can go 5k miles and it will burn a quart. I take good care of it. I’m going run it into the ground.

It would be really hard to re-ring a motor in the car. You can't get the oil pan off. Mind as well remove the engine.
