I'll be watching this a lot more. I bought two 09 E90's which were totaled. One with left side damage and the other with right side. Ill be making one good car out of the two. And bought a third car, a 2011 E91 Sport package with manual transmission that needs everything replaced forward of serpentine belt. Think it hit a deer but not sure. The E91 has immaculate dealer services on its CARFAX. And I own a former CPO 2011 E90 as my daily driver. Love me some N52 power. I am excited haha. Thank you.

@@buildanddrive got the E91 delivered today off the treiler. Frame and strut mount is damaged, didn't anticipate this. And also had an electrical problem. The battery in the car was shot showing 2.4V and draining blue GEL battery acid everywhere. When I hook a good battery up to the Jumpstart terminals under hood, nothing happens and the trunk terminals show me 51 Volts on the voltmeter.

You need to replace the accident fuse thing in the red cable of the battery. It's goes if in accidents to prevent a fire

@@buildanddrive I'm finding there is a IBS sensor on the negative side. And something on the positive. So much unknown on this. Lots of KZbin comments on other videos of similar problems and similar questions. I'll have to see if my HAYNES and BENTLEY manuals has anything on this. All confusing to.

You don't need remove the bumper or radiator. I remove only the gearbox and the intake manifold and the ventilator. But if you like more loose dismantle the exhaust manifold. The AC compressor and water pump disconnect and wait on the frame

Yes, I tried to remove the exhaust manifold but it was really really difficult. I didn't have a good enough tool to reach the 10mm bolts on the manifold so I took it out with the engine. I also don't have a lift or transmission jack. So it was much easier to remove the front crash bar than take out the transmission in the driveway.

Read the service manual,if you disconnect the air-conditioning hose and exposed for more then 24hrs, you need to change the dryer.

You may have to swap the oil pan and engine mounting brackets from the 325xi engine onto the new motor. But it should work, just reuse the original 325xi transmission parts as well

Just came across this, my 06 z4 3.0si with this n52 started knocking. Be aware that the disa valve can break off into the air intake which mine did.

When we tore apart my donor engine it had a broken valve on cyl 6. I assume the disa broke to and something got in the valve

@@buildanddrive Oh really? well I havn't tore apart the engine yet but maybe I will start up top and pull off the head anyway. I was having trouble getting the intake off last time as I didn't want to break the pcv? oil return thing there. Funny thing was the car ran fine for awhile with it broken, not sure what exactly caused it to finally fail. Was your engine knocking and down on power? All my plugs are mint. I thought for sure it spun a bearing.

Yes it's possible. Is it manual or automatic because you'll need the correct parts and wiring loom.

Push the hose towards the radiator. Press the white plastic tab on the hose in the opposite direction. Remove hose.

It was discharged at a shop. This is under a lot of pressure. Do not try to disconnect the AC stuff by yourself. It's very dangerous and you can get hurt or sick from inhaling the fumes

I know I was taking off a compressor at the junk yard an they are supposed to be already drained . It blew off when I removed the high side line an blew all over me in my face . I would not recommend it. You could slowly release it from the shreader valve but it’s illegal to vent it to. Atmosphere where I live in u.s.

i have a 128i with oil leaks and fumes, and a idle rattle noise. it just turn 100k im planing on tsking the engine out replace all hoses and plastics, gaskets, valcover and intake. I read you can use a 300s intake and gain some HP. but not sure I live in USA CA Los angeles and dont wanna deal with polution problem. any tips or comments are welcome...😁🫶

I am debating on doing so. My belt broke and i assume pieces of it snuck into the motor and now it wont turn over. i placed the new belt on properly and still nothing.
