OK, the rough bit is the raiders coming in off the edge of the map and being able to kill oxen--or loot whatever--before anything can even respond. I GUESS the idea is you would have built a manor there and get that Retinue out, BUT, if they are severely outnumbered that won't go well. (This was the zone where you had problems building the pop to get a militia.) You could leave retinue always deployed along the edges and try and bait raiders toward other retinue moving from their border posts so you'd have more numbers? Hmmm, seems dodgy. So wonder what the real solution will be...
