Heads Will Roll: Reforged lets the player to take a role of an ordinary medieval soldier who finds himself in the middle of the legendary Hundred Years War between the kings of England and France. You start your way as a simple footman, whose sole ambition is to survive, but with proper skill and cunning or through blood and preservation, you might soon see yourself becoming one of the most famous knights of your time.
This game is a unique type of RPG with survival mechanics and turn-based combat that requires player to make careful decision both inside and outside the fight. The sophisticated combat system utilizes many different parameters including characters’ stats and attributes, familiarity and proficiency with certain weapons, weapon length, fatigue level, various traumas and injuries, as well as hundreds of different items and consumables.

Do It Yourself is a nice Trait, since you don't need to buy Alchemy Tools or a Sewing kit. Saves you some inventory space.

Glad to see you doing another run. I got the game on the strength of your first series of videos and have sunk a lot of time into it. Thanks for the heads up. I don't think I'd ever have stumbled across the game otherwise.

Lovely to see another playthrough. I do say though, the fact a game like this DOESNT have a log is baffling. A way to see what you rolled would be nice as well, see the formulas of how it works.

Well iv gotten to like 500 Points of Manual Creation, I find it amusing that the game has "training Caps" for your stats (Like it will tell me I can't raise a stat if I try to train it till I advance in the story). Last night I ran into the SHIELD WALL Battle at Canibari. It gave me the option to DIP out twice and I said no, I ALMOST HAD IT but then the Shield Wall kept shoving me and they eventually just killed me. BUT MAN THAT WAS A GOOD RUN! Taking advantage of the Crafting system is certainly Rewarding, both in Money and Consumables mostly. Also, the Shield Braker pendent is _really good_ if your not using a weapon that can _split shields_. Like Swords or Clubs for example, cus that is still 20 shield damage on top of what you already do to a shield when your attack gets blocked. Tends to break the shield in 2 attacks from what I saw. The Nice thing about 1 handed Swords Tortuga (besides being able to have a shield), is their VERSATILITY. While not every sword has certain skills, the Arming sword seems pretty good, its got 3 different special attacks (Cripple for bleeding, Weak Point for piercing Armor, Counter Strike if you love Faints). And Swords like the Cleaver have the "Lunge" Attack which is the UNO REVERSE CARD of Heads Will Roll (It gives a Bonus to hit depending on how much reach your opponent has over you).

His name should be: Axton! Since he is going to be armed ONLY with an ax and hit for a ton! But since that not a 'real' name: Paxton! Which is even more clever since Pax is Latin for peace--so he promotes peace through the use of his axe!

Axe and shield coupled with the trinket that gives a chance to kill opponent with a critical hit is hella powerful once you get your skill high enough to actually hit opponents. :)

There are a few trinkets that goes well with your idea of armour destruction.

Zweihander obliterate can disable anything you can hit. Chapter 6 will have you doing 40+ stam and fatigue dmg per swing. Think of it as both a stun and chop armor in one, although you can only target chest. The only drawback is low base dmg of 13.

The highest I went was 80. The enemy couldn't move, so my weapon expert retinues went in for the kill. Does'nt matter if you don't do damage if the enemy don't do.

Here's a quick tip for when you get to the squad management part of the game - if you swap out their equipment, like their shield or armour for example, you DONT get their old item back. In my opinion this usually means its more cost effective to upgrade their equipment just by levelling them up, unless you're giving them trinkets and consumables, or want to change the type of weapon they're using entirely. Also, I'm not 100% sure on this, but I think if you manually give them something like a weapon or some armour, they won't auto-upgrade that item upon levelling, which (if true) means manually giving them weapons and armour is even worse. Over all the squad management stuff is great, I've had some real power houses that give genuine contributions to my fights other than being a meat-shield

All this hype from Tortuga about easily rolling through this play through... In before 404 error catches an unlucky axe to the face and goes down way too early.

I finished the game for first time yesterday. I did some insane things. There was a siege where i had to kill overall 75 enemies and i killed them all myself in one battle without retreating. I reached 810 turn when i killed the last one and i was still fresh. I was using the 18 dmg heavy battleaxe. Best weapon in the game. I was just one shotting them one by one. If they had shield i could just break it and then one shot them. If they had high armor i could just chop it and then one shot them. And keep respiting along the way. Each time i killed a guy i was just soamming respite until fatigue went back to 0 and i was only killing the guy on the right side and let the other guy with max fatigue so this way he would never hit me and i had to face only one guy basically. When i finished the game i had more than 10.000 score. I did the 8 of 19 endings. Lets see which one will be yours! By the way i had around 35 strength 35 weapon skill 28 agility 25 endurance and 20 coordination and the strongest armor. I killed ruffin and anyone else. I

Was the 75 enemies a siege where you had constant incoming fatigue penalties? (It happens in the desert regions.) That's impressive either way :)

@@TortugaPower No i had to take a town close to London i was helping the earl and prince and i could either send troops to attack or attack myself with my squad. I attacked myself and goliath oneshot all my squad (the enemy with the dmg 25 great flail) and then i killed hil and all the rest myself xd

@TortugaPower If you don't mind spoilers, it's chapter 5 of the nobility run. I nearly won the same way but died to bs arrow to the neck. My armor wasn't nearly as good as OP, and it showed. Had similar, though, slightly lower stats, with estoc as the primary weapon, so I got screwed pretty hard by a singular knight with crossbow after around 60 or so kills.

@@dtly50 yeah i wasnt letting the ones with crossbow to do a single attempt to hit me i was just going for 100% neck the moment they spawned even if i had 0 stamina next turn

@@Triandalf works fine until your roll crossbow knight with shield. That guy rolled the lucky 40% so many times he succeeded his lucky 5% on the neck. It was extremely unfortunate...

do you mean you went back and beat ruffin with RP#1 or a seperate playthrough altogether? I'd be bummed if that fight went so disasterously on luck alone

RP#1 died and this game mode is hardcode, where "dead is dead" (cannot continue playing after death). So I beat Ruffin with a new character, a Manual one.

If you wanna make a beefier character you can change that in the config file (should be able to google it) to up the max stats if you don't know what to do with leftover points.

Here's Finnish Jaguar's opinions (not facts!) - I no longer buy shields. I think its better to just not get hit through Agility - I also think spending starting points on more than 1 civic point is a waste - I like the two handed Heavy Battleaxe the most - I'm thinking luck based things are over-rated and all you need is the Lucky Devil civic trait My last game I beat end-of-game Ruffin and he was a big baby

Honestly, I think the best use of shields is the shield bash. I don't even rate them for their defenses. This makes the buckler probably the best shield in the game. Shield bash w/ the ring is one of the most effective ways to win fights, especially against difficult opponents. That being said I've been maining the zweihander, which can mimic it with Obliterate.

3:38 im no expert but the warhammer is a one handed weapon that does armor demage. But thats a mace not an axe so thats probably not very usefull to you in this playthrough

There is a one-handed mace that does armor damage? That's great! The only armor-damage I've seen is the two-hander mace (you can get it at game start).

@@TortugaPower Roger has a Warhammer but you gotta defeat him in that ruined monastery which took me manny tries (was playing on hard so i had saves) The sheriff who you have to duel also has one if you pick maces as your weapons of choice for the fight. I belive both of them have droped those warhammers Edit: i belive you can also get it at game start if you defeat Roger

you know the hunting sword is good for scavenging right?

That makes sense. I don't think I'd ever use it, though, as I never tried acquiring a lot of materials through scavenging, it never seemed useful to me.

​@TortugaPower If you are a crafting character, going the gathering civics plus hunting knife/sword plus boot and bottle/bounty, it's can potentially reach 600-700 gold per scavenge even from the start. (4-6 x leather, tons of herbs, poison ones being worth more if virtue is not a thing or using knights last hope for virtue restore). Scavenging can generate alot as long as you keep what RNG gives you and it happens to be in your favor that run. Falls off late game where 1 fight is 1-2 k as well, but extremely useful for early funding to the point that money may no longer be an issue as early as act 1 or 2.
