It's not a darker feel. Stop pretending to be musically realized when you're not. This is a literal translation from the electronic styled original to piano. The tone shift is characteristic of piano. He didn't "go with" a darker tone. It's inevitable. The only thing he did was reduce the tempo.

Piano remixes tend to emphasize how major or minor the key is, so Andres is partly correct, but reducing the tempo tends to make a song more somber. At the speed of the original, it does sound like a direct translation, but at the speed it's played at, it has a more somber feel.

I could imagine that robotniks death egg robot was destroyed he was stuck in the cockpit of the robot looking out the view of it thinking: "i built all of this for nothing! Knowing it would be destroyed by that's blasted blue hedgehog" the death egg explodes the cock pit heats up as it shoots out into to space

I disagree. The biggest problem with a lot of new piano players is that they are so focused on playing the right notes that they can't keep a proper tempo. MrBonusStage does an epic job at keeping a almost perfect tempo. In fact he's probably the only player I've seen on youtube that keeps near perfect tempo when playing songs.

SCD and S1 had already gotten the HD upgrade (well, the latter portable only) and S2 planned. I do see what you mean, a Generations-Esque take on the classic 4-5 (Depending on how you count S3K), and as I said, cutscenes and all. Hell with it, I'm sure someone in the fanbase is reading this and has some knowledge with 3D game development. I personally do better with 2D dev.

No, the speed doesn't intrinsically change the quality. 1.5x speed just makes it sound like the original played on a piano, while normal speed is more somber.
