Our quest to eventually cover every Bowser battle theme continues with a two-for-one deal: The Final Bowser Battle and Fated Battle from Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2!

This was originally only going to be Final Bowser from the first Galaxy, but I decided to go ahead and throw in Fated Battle since they share some similarities and go together well.
There's also a little bit of the normal Bowser battle thrown into the mix as well.

I fondly remember when I was a little kid and playing this game. When I first got to this finale in Galaxy 2, even little me was thinking 'Wait, that's really it? I just beat the second phase that easily? But it had such awesome music!'

I don’t remember where, but I saw this guy come up with a better second phase. The idea was that you land on the starship Mario as bowser slowly makes his way towards it to punch it, three punches and it’s game over. All while meteors and enemies fall onto the starship. Mixed with fireballs from bowser in the distance. You have to navigate the starship and find attack meteors that you can launch at bowser to repel his attack and launch him back. Do that a couple times and that’s the fight. It’s not much but I remember thinking that that would have been way cooler than what actually happened. But hey, music is still cool.

At least Fated Battle is in Smash 4 and Ultimate. ...total missed opportunity to use it for the end of Mario's Classic Mode, though.

Seems like that problem's shared with Big Arms from Sonic Generations 3DS, where the song gets absolutely amazing on it's second half, but you can beat the boss in seconds.

Dang, I spent more time listening to Galaxy 2's Final Boss theme in this video than I did listening to it in the actual game This was such a wonderful cover of Galaxy 1 and 2's Bowser themes, you did a really incredible job with this one; the Bowser plush was the real star of the show though, wouldn't have been the same without him

Imo, Galaxy was the best in the series. The dark under tone, the back story which was also dark, the best representation of Bowser in the series, the level design, music, art style, and the ending.... God I still remember crying when I was younger and seeing the lumas sacrifice their selves. And when the universe still got wiped, it blew my mind. Then I saw the final last to the ending. The rebirth. And the credits started with what easily one of the best credit songs I've heard. Really wish they would make another game like this one.

I can imagine some badass comes from the dark, standing in the shadow so you can't see him. You see a sun hat drop and he jumps, making an amazing entrance to the scene, shaking the earth and knocking you off balance. When the choirs kick in, he lands and you see a Hawaii shirt on him with the flower necklace. He menacingly walks towards you and takes it off, throwing it like sigma with the cape or like how the megaman introduction bosses do their pose. Then stands there menacingly, staring you down for cutting his holiday off because you ruined it. After a little while, when the guitar kicks in and it goes down, he starts sprinting towards you. Fast. The fight has begun

Wow, what a bizarre turn of events that led me here. I woke up thinking about this song, I've never played Mario Galaxy but I heard it somewhere and it made its way into my head this morning. I somehow figured it was from Galaxy, and looked it up to give it a quick listen and confirm if it was indeed Galaxy. I love these battles half to death, and the levels beforehand are amazing. However, I think it's safe to say that Galaxy Two had the better level before the boss, and Galaxy One had the better boss fight. Either way, it's lovely to see two portions of my childhood gleaming with the Atma polish.

Everyone remembers their 1st Mario game... & the sequel. Galaxy was mine, what a blessed experience. The music ranged from beautiful & quiet, to awe-inspiring & epic. These 2 themes definitely fit with the latter. Hopefully we’ll see that Shantae “Dynamo” remix soon too.

Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 were games my oldest nephew and I bonded over. He was too young to really understand the controls at the time of release, so I played them for him. Sadly, though, he grew up (he's 17 now) and has angst like you wouldn't believe. To only have him be so young again. Those were the days. :*(
