I enjoy watching your videos. Looking forward to each one of them.. it's the first video I watch whenever there is a new one out. You seems to be great couple - knowing what your goal is, and living you dream. I really hope you continue doing your vid's, as they are well made. You give all of us a lot of knowledge in hay farming, and teach us IT freaks that there is a life outside the office where we are hammering on the keyboard every day/night to make a living. Really looking forwand to the next step....

Awww you guys have horses. My mom had horses when I was a kid and I had motorcycles. Never was into horses and in fact I've never rode one. But then I watched all the seasons of Heartland, and really started to see them as pretty cool animals.

Ah! Sweet success! I think I see a pair of spoiled horses, as for the sweet feed, that has to be the best smelling feed I ever gave my horses when I had a couple. I also see you wisely keep something (like a substantial gate) between you & the horses when putting out the feed. I had to learn that the hard way, lol!! Thanks for sharing your videos with me.....

I always buy a new straw hat for baling. it gets plenty dirty and beat up on open station tractors. My end of season ritual is to throw it into the last bale and bale it up. It always tickles me when I'm feeding in the dead of Winter and come across it.

@NorthTexasHay7 жыл бұрын
+Luke B John Deere and new holland both sell the same product just with a different label. How long is your hay season
@Zomsky7 жыл бұрын
North Texas Hay we have a pretty long season luckily. Try to get the first alfalfa/Lucerne off in Late September and make silage rolls (it is usually pretty weedy after winter). We cut every 5-6 weeks into late March or early April (depending on the rain and how much river irrigation water we get allocated). Same as you guys - we split between squares and rounds. Our kikuyu/rye fields we can get about 2 cuts (not irrigated).
@NorthTexasHay7 жыл бұрын
+Luke B I would have never imagined your season would be flipped from ours. Good luck and I hope it goes as smooth as possible.

So where would you move your farm? I thought I heard you say east Texas somewhere? Is the soil much better the farther east you go in Texas? I've got red clay that cracks wide open when it dries. I think you could twist an ankle on it. Do a video visiting your friends hay farms to see their operations. Just an idea.
@NorthTexasHay7 жыл бұрын

do not quite agree with you on all preservatives being the same.i have found that the proprionic /acetic is more effective at the higher moisture levels than those with citric acids.especially in alfafa mixtures.Costs can be higher but works well. the high humidity levels in South Western Ontario,Canada makes acid usage almost a must do for hay growers here!
