Final drive thread repair on the 51 Farmall Cub

Not a bad job but not fun neither lol . everything worked out great and did like it was supposed to . I did grind off the excess later on and bolted up the drawbar and it was good and tight . In a week or so I will install the mower and hopefully do some mowing for yall . I hope this helps someone on repairing the worn out threads on a Cub. This also could be done to a Farmall A through 140 on the final drives but would require different drill bit , tap and inserts for the larger Holes . Enjoy

Good repair!! I used one of those inserts once on a stripped hole in a crankshaft for a flywheel bolt. Worked great and it's been going for about 12 years now.

I used a knockoff Helicoil from eBay or Amazon when I did one of the rear holes on my finals. Holding good now, gets tight and happy with the results. Another option for folks. The cool thing with the knockoff Helicoil is that while there only a few dollars cheaper than the original they come with the correct bit and tap so it saves you some money over Helicoil. This route is also cheaper if that matters to someone.

Cool deal, I need to do this to one of my cubs! I like to use the original stuff, my right side final has a 7/8 bolt in it now. Maybe it’s not to big yet. That’s a great job Matt!
