Final Fantasy 15 story theory: Blind Ignis, Cors death and Gladiolus’ trip to Hel

Final Fantasy 15 story theory incoming! Tinfoil hat, ENGAGED! So running with the crazy title of Blind Ignis, Cors death and Gladiolus’ trip to Hel, its bold, its out there but its fun. Exploring a centuries old norse mythology tale between the sons of Odin: Vidar, Vali, Hodr, Balder and Hermod and how they might just connect to the ffxv brotherhood.
With Ardyn links to Loki, Bahamut, the astrals, Tiatmat and/or Nidhogg.
A possible stab at what is causing the chapter feud in the ff15 TGS trailer.
A few more bits on chaos that also tie really nicely into the four fiends idea.

im just afraid of xv's story falling into the problems final fantasy xiii, type-0 and many of the recent kingdom hearts have had. convoluted story, not as epic as it should have been and having boring characters because the trailers focus so much more on the traveling, the combat and the friendship moments and less on the story most likely for spoiler reasons, it did give me the feeling that the game would not have a deep story

I also want to point out the influences from Lord of the Rings. Aragorn is a descendant from a line of Kings since the first age, when the first men lived in Numenor. The northern island (shaped like a star like Lucis is) met it's downfall when Sauron, once a fair high elf, betrayed and tricked the first men. just like what Ardyn is doing especially in Kingsglaive. Aragorn is given Narsil, the blade that is reforged which Ilsildur used to slay Sauron in the 2nd age. Cor Leonis is guiding the group like Gandalf so that Aragorn will meet his destiny and face the trials that await him for his rightful place as King in Minas Tirith, the White City (like Insomnia, the city of light). Aragorn being given the blade of the king brought inspiration for Noctis being given the armigers of the kings. Finally, Aragorn has a ring that proves his birthright, just like Noctis bearing the ring of the Lucii. The ring of the Lucii has a similar presence that The One Ring has, but is not at all an omen of destruction. both are rings of power but the ring of the lucii gives power to the rightful king it chooses. both rings have a consciousness and choose their owners. Have fun, guys! Oh, and Aragorn's romance with Arwyn who bore the gift of foresight, much like an Oracle, which is Luna.

I did a search regarding the significance of 7 swords and the first result were the depiction of 7 swords in tarot card. It meant betrayal and deception. Also, the "guy" on the Cosmogeny book cover is in the Genesis picture! This confirms that "guy" on the book is most definitely a summon! and it's most probably Ifrit because almost all of the revealed summons are there. Ramuh, Shiva, Titan on the right. That leaves Ifrit and Leviathan on the left. Perhaps there's something that makes Ifrit play such an important role. Maybe he's the only summon that betrayed the Lucii or perhaps he's the only summon who's aware of what the Lucii are up to.

Here's a follow up to your comment about Noctis possibly being Chaos. Then look at Somnus and Omnis Lacrima's lyrics. Prepare to be mindblown. Chaos gave the Crystal to the King, perhaps after making a pact. What is this pact about? Probably him being reborn through one of the heirs in exchange for the "True King's" power. And when Chaos is reborn it'll be the Apocalypse, then the Dawn of a new world. That's why the King and Oracle should stand together always, so Chaos can be kept at bay. They want Chaos, the God, to sleep forever. Ardyn wants Noct to 'awaken as the True King by claiming the Crystal. Ardyn wants to kill Chaos, the Darkness. And his actions might have terrible repercussions. Nothing is either good or bad, thinking it makes it so. Luna is trying to stop Chaos Awakening --> meddles with Ardyn's plan--> he gets pissed and slaps her. But what does she mean by helping Noctis fulfill his destiny? Did she misunderstand his fate. She's quite obsessed over the "light" and maybe doesn't realize the King of Light arrives after the Apocalypse brought by Chaos.

Gotta say, a lot of your predictions were spot-on, especially since this was uploaded 2 months before FF15 was released. The funny thing is, even though Cor doesn't die, Gladiolus still leaves the team to do a solo mission (which you predicted). We won't know what that mission was until the DLC comes out, but I'm curious what it's about, besides him fighting Gilgamesh, especially since Cor didn't die, so he goes it alone for another reason.

I'm thinking it a Noctis fail that is the cause for Ignis' blindness. Ignis already recognizes Arden as an enemy before he goes blind, unless Arden has some Aizen-type (bleach reference) master plans and powers, I just can't see Ignis getting tricked by Arden after the realization.

Definitly! Theres a reason the norse tales have lasted as long as they have and are still so highly regarded. FF + the greatest storytelling mythos in history. Surely its a recipe for sucess if as you say, they get the pacing right. Thing is I wonder how many people will even care for the story. To me story is the most imporant aspect (if these vids didnt give that away hehe) but I think most of the new gen gamers playing this as there first ff will be far more combat focused. Not to say the combat isnt good it is, but I think FFXV could very much have its story and the intricacy square have gone to with it underaprecciated by the majority :)

Yeah I agree I love stories first and foremost in a game. The mechanics obviously have to be good but story trumps all in my book. Some games that are more narrative focused are often called "interactive movies" in a bad way but hey screw those people lol

I'm pretty sure they foreshadowed ignis going blind. There was a conversation between the boy at which ignis states that he prefers to see in clairity. The convo was too long not to be an intentional refrence around chapter 3 or 4 following Ardyn in the regalia.

I think I agree with the idea of Ardyn being Loki, and that could provide some explanation as to why we heard that heavy sound from him, not only when he stepped on the stairs of the Lucian throne room, but also when he slapped Luna. Maybe he has powers similar to Loki's?

Pretty interesting, I haven't play many of the FF series. The oldest one I played was III on the DS. I think Ignis's blindness alludes to the Gulgans in FFIII who were a group of blind sages. Although they can't see, they are wise and also gift the FF III party spells, which is similar to how Iggy buffs the FFXV party with magic during battles, i.e. libra elemetia and enhancement.

Hey ignis went blind and we have DLC where Gladio goes into the underworld. Granted, the raw hit rate isn't great, but it's much higher than zero.

How about Ignis using the Lucii ring to save Gladio giving in exchange his eyes because of something that Noctis did? (like related to Ardyn and killing Cor) And maybe thats why Gladio is angry and have that new scar (and also feel responsible for both and want to recover Cor from hell + heal Ignis) Maybe Ignis needed to choose between saving Gladio or Cor as the Lucii likes to make that kind of sacrifices in order to know who is worthy.

I am enjoying your theory videos. I have not taken part in your polls as I watch your videos on PS Vita. I don't think Square would use Loqi as the trigger man and have him behind it directly. I have a more shocking and unsettling theory Luna is going to be the one behind Ignis going blind but been trickd or forced by another character. It is going to be so dark and thrilling that Final Fantasy XV is going to be remember as on of the greatest in history. But afterwards helps the Botherhood because of guilt and a change of heart

how did you get this backround for your playstation? Have purchased the Luna edition and played the game through. Its great and is fun, but still i am a little bit disappointed with the story, because it had so much potential especially the original concept of FFVS XIII. You should go over and revise all your theorys and then mix and match and put together a norse theory of raganrok and show us the similarities. If you get what I mean.....For instance, The Lion king is really a loose tail of Hamlet.....or The Movie Avatar is actually just pocahontas.

Its a fact that Square uses greek and norse mythology in almost every FF game ever made, XV included, but they obviously have the creative control to use names and ideas and concepts but alter them as they please. This means some mythology might indeed prophesize certain events in FFXV, while the game itself remaining original to thier own scenario and world. It doesnt HAVE to be 100% accurate to old mythology. Because it isnt. But it fully makes use of names and concepts and even sometimes scenarios. This is an interesting video though. If Ignis' dlc scenario has him kill Cor, im gonna flip. Just wow. Im gonna say right off the bat that all of your party members dlc scenarios are going to center around adryn just screwing with them. Promptos for sure.

* spoiler* Well I though ardyn was once a king of Lucis, and he had to Absorb all the demons to restore the light (something along those lines) which then made him impure so the crystal rejected him and he is now immortal because of the daemons...?

Oh I've said all along I don't want a Daredevil or Cyclops as some people suggesting! Just seems like a gimmick. If he's blind then I think he should be done with the main fighting.

Another fun video man! I love all the norse references even if they aren't in the game I like the little nods. Still on norse i think that Ardyn might be Ragnarok but not in psychical form like we've seen before in final fantasy but the actual norse meaning of it "fate of the gods" he IS! the "events" leading up to Ragnarok, he is the one pulling and manipulating the narrative he is the one who has potentially got the "fate of the gods" in his hands. which makes me think he is one of the guardians like Cor and Gentiana but with a Caius twist? unlike Cor who protects the Kings of Chaos and unlike Gentiana who protects the light of Oracles. Ardyn might be sick of this cycle bull shit, he's sick of seeing the people fail and so threw himself in with the Empire to snuff it out. to end the cycles maybe? this way they can have him dabble in all things bad in the game you said he can't be behind the Cor, Ignis and loqi thing, he can't be behind everything maybe not directly but been Ragnarok (the event) he could have easily been the one to place Loqi in command for that purpose. to further set things in motion
