1) Clive and Joshua are full blood brothers 2) If you have names turned on for subtitles, you see that he's the one who remarks "what in the world...?" or whatever the line is when we see a POV on the ground looking at the Lord Commander and then swings to the man on fire. Whether or not Clive is that Eikon of Fire is not clear. We know that he can summon Ifrit, but its not clear if he was that particular Eikon of Fire. It could be an Evangelion situation where he had no control, but its also unclear if that's his POV or not at the end with the desaturated camera shots. 3) Its entirely possible that Joshua is alive considering what the Phoenix is known for, but that remains to be seen. We've *seen* things in the trailers leading up to the game but there are no clear threads.

Awesome reaction. The amount of emotional damage in this opening chapter. Also, not sure if your aware but quick tip: If you hold the "create button" on your dualsense for a sec, it takes a screenshot of the moment you started the press. If you want to record instead, hit the button twice rapidly to start recording and then twice rapidly again whenever you want to stop recording. This way, it won't pause the gameplay and you dont have to see the screenshot icon popup (you hear the shutter as confirmation).

I'm not totally convinced that Clive was Ifrit during that fight, because when Ifrit was mauling Phoenix, he was seeing it from an outside perspective, rather than from behind the Eikon's eyes like we saw from Joshua earlier. As for where Torgal is, he ran off as Joshua was transforming, so I'm sure he found a safe place to hide to avoid all the chaos.

In the heat of the demo I initially thought Clive was Ifrit but when watching it again while editing this video there is a fiery humanoid figure who appears before Clive shortly before Ifrit appears. A hooded figure also appears before Clive. After editing this I think we have seen some clues showing us Clive was not Ifrit. All in all it's mysterious and I'm excited to see everything unravel in the full game!!!

@@PermanentViolet I think the entity/eikon/Ifrit thing took his body and his soul/mind went over to Torgal. That's why we heard Torgal crying and saw the PoV of Ifrit beating down Phoenix. If we were controlling Ifrit, I would imagine we would be watching from the main body.

All the pre-release stuff heavily suggests that Clive is Ifrit in this scene (and it's almost TOO obvious in the scene itself that Clive doesn't think so but it's implied to be him anyway - but too on the nose really) but I feel it's too simple, and too heavily implied beforehand. Might very well be purposely misleading.
