Final Fantasy 16 is ALMOST Perfect

I agree with this! As an FF fan this pays homage to FF games of old with its story and some characters as a story its damn near perfect in its writing, with characters being rich with emotion and actually show it realistically, especially with Clive. The gameplay is great, fluid and well designed, its only held back by the fact that the game is too easy where is doesn't allow you to bring out its full potential. Other than that the high points of this game I would say are the highest Ive seen in any FF game period. The boss fights are the best on the market when it comes to spectacle and epicenes and the music of this game I would say is perfect. The emotional scenes just hit so hard and Clive as a character has become my favorite in the franchise for his writing and now that DLC is confirmed, I hope to see him again.

Dealing with the annoying boring side quests is also the reason I dont wanna go through it again lol. Still a solid 9/10 for me with around 70 hours of gamering.

For the Side quest or Mid Quest (pun intended), in hard mode you can just skip the dialogue. That make these quest SO FAST to pass by. Really don't be afraid to redo the game in Final Fantasy mode since you know the game once you see something you don't really like you just skip and you're good. That's what I did and it went so smooth. Also, amazing video. In majority the side quest are TOP TER the best of any game ever made really. You always gain something relevent story wise or gameplay wise. To me, the game have no flaws, but I can see your points. Also you didn't talk about the god tier ost. Titan Loss ost!? Joshua fight ost!? crazy good

No you’re right the music is legendary! Even though I’ve listen to a song almost every day since I’ve started playing it didn’t occur to me until I was finding background music for the video. I just didn’t have the energy at the time to go back and record a 10 min rant on how good the music is haha

Would you rate this as your GOTY even with all it's short comings you mentioned? The side quests for me added to the world and character building. I think what most gamers do especially with long rpgs is try to finish the game in one or two sessions hence their less appreciation for side quests.

Personally I think my GOTY is still Tears of the Kingdom. This game and it’s side quests are weird. Some of the mandatory side quests like the boat material one still suck to me and you don’t even get to sail a boat like in other FF games. I can’t say that all the side quests are bad though especially those for Joshua, Jill and Torgal. I even liked the blacksmith one even though it was a bit long. I can see how if you skip those and only do the ones the main story drives you to do you wouldn’t want to do the others.

@@GramKraken Fair enough. I'm trying to like Tears of the Kingdom but I just don't see the appeal. Even went to a Nintendo shop to look at the gameplay. If I liked what I saw I was going to get a Nintendo system to play the game

This game was absolutely not almost perfect. It was really good in areas, mainly the absolutely incredible boss fights but even so, they werent a challenge at all. I died only twice in the entire game, and once was to thr optional svarag lvl 60 boss. They give you so many tools you feel like the boss not your enemies. The game plays itself even without the timely rings or whatever. And if you died it wouldnt even start thr boss over, AND thry would give you full potions. This is terrible as you feelblike you cheated the boss. Sidequests were absolute garbage outaide of a few really good ones. Loot was non existent, linear level design was pretty boring, and lack of any status es, ailments, and elemental damage means you never had to think at all in these battles. The battle system was incredible but wasted. Even so, this game is still close to a 9 for me given bow good the story, graphics, combat, and bosses were. If they fixed the other aspects it would be a 9 or 9.5 in my book

The difficulty and balance of combat was so poorly implemented. I don't need this to be a Soulslike or anything...but every encounter is a joke, which I believe to be to the detriment of the game as a whole. Don't get me wrong, it was a feast for the eyes and the major battles were a spectacle, but I never found it to be like "How will I get out of this one?" The side quests were poorly done as well. I felt like it was FFXIV with better graphics and voice acting. Great review overall but I feel like this should have been a spinoff from a mainline game in the same world and lore setting.

Yeah thinking back I can’t remember a time where I died and had to go back and reevaluate the boss/encounter which I do love from other harder games. I did think there were a couple bosses that were challenging though I’m probably just not as good of a gamer as you haha. The Behemoth fight almost got me at one point

I died a lot in some encounters so I disagree with it being easy. That said I didn't use the assist rings or use the "continue" option, which starts you off at a check point while refilling your potions. My difficulty criticism would be that you can't turn this off so I always have to reload a save. I think if these two can be disabled it would be great. For me the balance was good assuming you don't use the rings or the potion refilled continue was quite nice. Nothing absurdly difficult but still pushing me and keeping me on my toes. I don't think these options are bad as they can be helpful for people who just want to breeze through the games but I do wish they can be disabled.
