The world has fallen under the control of the Shinra Electric Power Company, a shadowy corporation controlling the planet’s very life force as mako energy.
In the sprawling city of Midgar, an anti-Shinra organization calling themselves Avalanche have stepped up their resistance. Cloud Strife, a former member of Shinra’s elite SOLDIER unit now turned mercenary, lends his aid to the group, unaware of the epic consequences that await him.
The story of this first, standalone game in the FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE project covers up to the party’s escape from Midgar, and goes deeper into the events occurring in Midgar than the original FINAL FANTASY VII

I know it's just a video game thing but it's always hilarious to me that the characters don't really change out of their battle uniforms no matter the circumstance. Avalanche just casually walking through the streets after a terrorist attack literally looking like a bunch of ragtag soldiers and nobody questioning Cloud until he straight up pulls out his extremely conspicuous sword. Cloud sleeping in full gears boots and pauldron and all no matter how obviously uncomfortable that'd be. Tifa serving drinks at her bar with reinforced gloves and elbow pads. Jessie and the guys trying to pass themselves off as casual stage hands to her mom despite packing guns, bandoliers full of ammo, and straight up armor in the case of Jessie herself.

I don't like how they changed the boss theme to an orchestral version. Uetmatsu went a too far in the Black Mages concept to make it orchestral. Hans Zimmer would've done it differently and just told Uetmatsu to stick to the original because the purpose of music is to tell a story and also because Hans surprisingly, is a big fan of electronic.
