I bought FF7 back in January 1998 when I was 16 and it consumed my life. I maxed out every character to level 99 and found everything and beat all the Weapon bosses. It was the first game I ever played to actually draw me in to care about the characters. With the second installment of the remake coming up soon, I bought a PS5 slim and part one to relive those days

Dude I feel you, FF7 honestly changed my life for real. I was never unhappy or in a bad mood cause I always had FF7 to play lol. Me and two of my friends would have BYOTV (bring your own TV) parties and start a new FF7 game file and compeat to see who could get gold chocobo and defeat all emerald and Ruby weapon, we would be in my friend's basement on Friday playing for days lol. Best memories of childhood!

Something to point out about proficiency - to max it out for a weapon to learn that weapon ability, all you have to do is use the ability 10 times in combat.

Sorry there is a missinformation. Materia don´t get "more" Ap if you use them in Battle ( like use fire 3 times it gets 3 Ap ). Every enemy gives a certain amount of Ap if you defeat them to every Materia you have EQUIPED it doesn´t mather if you have used it in the fight or not. You can see how many Ap you get from an Enemy if you have Asses Materia used on them and bring up the Asses-Tooltip.

Similar for how to stagger using abilites. It's not just big damage = more stagger. Some abilities stagger much faster than others and not necessarily the ones that do more damage, often they arent the ones that do the best damage.

6:00 I'm pretty sure you need to do the "Focus abilities" when Pressured. This leads to Stagger, which is the point where you unload your damage. Which leads to Limit Break.

Thanks again Khraze. Hit alot of good points here.👍 One thing I will point out is learning how to fluidly turn an operator combo into a punisher combo. Also if you get overwhelmed as Cloud you can swap to Barret or Aerith which will draw the enemy AI to the long range character. That opens them up to rear attacks from cloud as they walk away from him. Swap back, go into punisher and go to town

You got the weapon leveling and materia leveling backwards. You need to use weapon abilities to gain proficiency, but you only need to have a materia equipped to level it up, you don't have to use the materia ability at all.

I'd actually make the counter argument for not wasting materia slots on cures for each person when you can just use potions. But that's just the Witcher in me😁 I DO use a magnify and cure together so you cure all party members.

You never did tell us how to increase the Stagger Damage boost to 200 and 300%! How does that happen?

This game is simple and logical in knowing what to do. I've completed the original FF7 a ton of times. 3 times I maxed out the clock at 99 hours. FF7R is a lot of the same ways of doing stuff. I'm surprised by people who happen to be fans and are popular KZbinrs who even base their channels around Final Fantasy who seem to be clueless about this game's mechanics and I've watched miss obvious things. You seem to be on the right track. 👍 Good to backtrack a lot, grind and do the side quests. There are clues in the environment for secrets too so look out for those. Doing the missions Chadley wants you to do is great to earn some good stuff. Also do the Corneo Colosseum battles and the Whack-A-Box missions. 😁👍

Nope. I’ll cover a Tifa build soon since it requires a longer explanation. But it involves double charging her with L1+Square and then spamming triangle.

You need Tifa and Aerith for that. Fight Fat Chocobo. Use Tifa. Use Unbridled Strength on Tifa twice to get Rise and Fall. Charge up her ATB to full as well. Use Aerith. Charge up her ATB to full. Once Fat Chocobo gets Staggered, immediately command Aerith to use Ray of Judgment and spam Tifa's Triangle combo 3x. After you get whirlwind you can either spam True Strike or use Unbridled Strength twice to spam Rise and Fall again.

Little late to this game but the videos have been informative. Can say that the systems implemented are interesting to say the least. It feels like Kingdom Hearts 2 combat which I can't complain about. The weapon proficency system is a good way to implement player skill progression and the upgrade system is a nice way to give you control of how you powered up. Combat is too far and few between though. The materia system is really thinned out as I knew it would be when I heard about this game coming to fruition. Which so far hasn't bothered me. Although with the Weapon upgrade system in place I feel like doing away with all the Stat Boost Purple Materia (Hp plus, Luck plus) and replacing them with more impactful options that further affected your combat style like the Dodge or Parry materia. Like a materia that increased the area of effect of your attacks, or a redesigned finishing standard melee idk. I realize they have other games coming but I'm mostly just spit balling ideas.

I played to chapter 17 in 2022, got interrupted and just forget to go back, now i wanna finish the last chapters before rebirth is released but jumping straight into the end without remembering anything of the combat is making me nervous 😂

So far it seems like you just mash square and periodically select a spell. Rinse and repeat. Not sure why there's an auto mode for such a simple process...hope my thoughts change as I play more.

Number 1 tip: Don't buy it. It's a sh*t game. A nomura fan fiction that reeked with autism. Play the original or grab the steam version and apply great mods.

Tip one. IF you are expecting a remake of FFVII then prepare to be pissed off by the end of chapter 18. They are even nice enough to list the people you want to kill at the end. I think they call them "credits", funny thing to call a hit list if you ask me.
