You have 15 materia here but between weapons and equipment at max level you can only have 14 materia equipped. So which is the one on this list that wasn’t actually a part of the build?

Thanks a lot! Even if was missing some of the materia or items you recommend, the strategy is neat and helped me a lot, I could finally beat Rufus. If anyone else is struggling, my suggestion is using the yellow materia that gives you btc boost (my game is in spanish so idk in english, but it's called "Materia de Aumento de BTC", maybe "ATB Boost"?), so that way you have ATB ready to attack after Rufus' actions and pressure him. Also, precise blocking and using prime mode is a savior, if you don't have the materia to speed up spell casting, you can counter the dog's attack if you block during prime mode, the dog will be staggered and will be easier to get rid of him and/or deal with Rufus. Last but not least, I used rebirth pendants so I revive if Rufus gets my HP to 0. Having Phoenix as a summon will also allow you to cast autolife, use it after the pendants broke. That's how I made it lol.

Thank you so much man, I was finally able to beat him with this strategy. You’re the best. The only change I made was swapping out one of the Magic Focuses for Magic Efficiency since I didn’t have full MP. Also piece of advice, slow down when you’re showing the materia build - I had to play it back like five times at 0.25X speed to clearly see what you had equipped LOL.

How does this work? Rufus' Enemy Intel says he is immune to all 4 elements when staggered. So wtf?

I think it’s on the contrary, when staggered the immunity turns off. Maybe a wrong label?

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Only built that worked for me😃 I played a bit more defensive and when I got to the second part I had 17mp so I couldn't cast level 3 wind. Just my limitbreak and wind level 2 on Rufus was enough 😃

Thanks for the video, it helped a lot! This fight was terrible, I've used your strategy and changed to HP Absorb + Wind and MP Absorb + Wind, so I had lot of magic attacks, with full health. Improving roll skills and counter attacks he died in my 3rd try.

He should not have counter. It’s absurd. I put plasma discharge on top. Unless you want the fight to drag on, get that braver on guns yojimbo. Prime mode was helpful, aeroga was good too. The first time you pressure him keep attacking and don’t stop. He’ll eventually counter into bright lights, when that happens, dodge sideways and pressure him again with regular attack. I like to summon as well, right before the doggy phase. I found doggy dodged my aeroga twice. So just try to do when you’re sure he’s not going to move too much. Keep that limit until doggy phase too

@@yeahthatsmax Just a feeling about the unbalanced fights. I do love a good challenge, hell I do mythic and ultimate contents in MMORPGS and what I find "garbage" (Which was a feeling of frustation that came from what I think bad choices in dificulty design) are that 9/10 tries that I did the legendary bouts, the AI for my teammates would do random stuff and kill themselves. Just frustating, getting this platinum was non enjoyable in most of the legendary bouts. I have the platinum for Remake and the DLC and this one was much much harder than those 2. Again, just my feelings towards some design choices in the encounters.

sometimes, when I use focused thrust, little projectiles come out of Cloud and hit Rufus before my focused thrust ability does. The little projectiles pressure Rufus, but he immediately recuperates the same way as when you hit him with a regular attack, which negates the usefulness of my focused thrust. What the hell are those projectiles and how do I turn them off? I am using the exact same build as you btw.

I was in such a hurry to see the rest of the story, i skipped all the endgame stuff. So i didnt get swiftcast and and all the best materia and enhanced accessories until ch. 12 on Hard. So everything is that much harder 😢

Hold down square during the cutscene (after beating the Turks), then you can skip the scene or let it play out, then it gives you the menu. You can heal Cloud and change his equipment. ... I also only learnt today.

Because before Rufus you fight Rude and Elena, so you can swap this build with minimal changes while doing both fights. Also, wind is the most precise and won’t miss.

Real nice! I been checked out since chapter 8 on normal... Idk why I am paying this on hard... I have no desire to ever play any of the minigame again, finish hard and I'll never play this game again... I have bad memories of not enjoying this game and it being a huge drag to play. The story is rather removed due to distractions and full stops in the game. is there even a story it feels like it at the same place where remake ended, what are we going to do about Sephiroth?

Contrary to popular belief, this fight is not hard if know to time your attacks. Triple slash everytime he does his dash attacks and when he summons the dog, use counter. Modern gamers are just entitled and complains so much when dealing with hardships

People are allowed to be frustrated with what is, for them, an extremely difficult battle. Not everyone has the same reaction speed as you. Not everyone has the same skill level as you. Not everyone has the physical or mental capabilities you do. Calling someone entitled for their valid frustration speaks volumes of your character. How about, "Hey, I see you're having a difficult time. Maybe, since I didn't struggle as much, I can give you some advice."
