I wouldn't mind it so much, except keeping it faithful here now makes the boss look goofy. In the original NES, his left arm and the rest of his body were darkened out, which blended into the already-black background. Without that black background, it doesn't work, which is why the PS1 and PSP versions changed it. Here? It looks like the Emperor's some strange creature with only an upper body, right arm and tiny cape. Faithfulness is nice, but not when it's detrimental like this...

That is one hard to beat NASTY boss! I thought I’d never beat him. First try I had a marathon one hour battle before losing. Attempted a couple more times until I developed a strat I liked. Firion attacks with blood sword and masume sword, Maria casts level 8 blink on firion nonstop and takes healing duties, the other two spam non stop level 8 flares (holy would probably be just as fine). This will work comfortably

This is the one final boss fight from the first six games that I want to redo sometime, because I feel I just cheesed it. If you use the Blood Sword, you can kill this guy in a few turns before he makes one real attack on you. I used the Blood Sword knowing how to otherwise beat him but knowing what a hard fight this is. I then felt it was a total anticlimax how easily the Blood Sword beat him, after all the hard work I'd put in getting that far, and felt cheated out of a more satisfying victory. At some point I'll repeat the fight from my last save point and do it the hard way, but properly. Note: it would have been cool to cheese with something against Neo Exdeath in FFV, though, because he is absolutely brutal.

Is it very hard? if you equip a shield from beginning to the end, this game is half way easier than two hand weapons. Also you can have ancient sword, bloodsword make game easy. Ultimate magic also deal good damages after lv7. Haste and Berserka are both top buffs in the buff.

For me, no boss was harder than FFIX, FF 1, 2, 4 bosses were relatively easy. What was "hard" at this game is that the second part, were you use the deceased characters from the main game, Joseph, Richard, Minwu, and the other one, are in the level they died in the main game, so if you never leveled them up enough before they died, you have to fight a similar boss as the Emperor but with shitty stats unless you grind leveling up. I played the Gameboy advance version, and knowing this I leveled them up in the PSP version beforehand. Game is the third in my list, 2nd place Final fantasy tactics war of the lions, 1st place FF4, The after years complete collection.

Meh, I think Pixel Remaster does it's job well without invalidating the remakes. Plus I think it's best to see what 4-6 end up like. Pixel Remaster is a Remaster at it's core and honestly, it does it's job well as far as faithfulness goes.

Until the Pixel Remakes all of the NES/SNES Final Fantasy games sucked on PC. Some didn't work with standard controllers, and they all had horrible framerate locks like 30fps with 15fps in combat and played like crap. At least these have a nice smooth, responsive 60fps at all times. 15fps in combat with 500ms+ input lag made the games unfun. That's probably one reason they did this for PC and mobile, since there isn't a non-butchered, playable version of the games for that market.

I'm playing FF4 on a SNES Emulator for the PC and I'm not lagging at all and if you mean IOS version, like FF5, FF4 or FF6; I'll buy it and prove you wrong, though the reason why i refuse to do so is because the IOS version of those 3.....I think you should know that reason. Unless you have a bad PC, you should be able to play these games perfectly fine. I might have a bit of a bias towards NES/SNES/GBA and PSP versions of the game because they were what i grew up on and what I loved the most since they stayed respectful to the original. What makes the pixel remaster bad imo was the font, That shit's disgusting at it's finest; the lazy, redone, copy pasted sprites. It doesn't even look like they TRIED to make it a little detailed like how the original or remastered versions did and the sprite play. If you're gonna remaster them, at least keep them fateful. *Example A: FF3 summons. Compare the original to the new, sure the new one looks stunning but they could have at least TRIED to make it feel the same as playing it from the NES or even the PSP. No, they just redid the sprites and tossed in more modern shit with old sprites/Attacking animations.* Example B: FF2 Sprites. Once again, compare the GBA/PSP sprites (Sprites such as whenever a character is talking.) to this one, you can see the detail within it unlike this which was lazily done. The music doesn't feel the same. Dont get me wrong, I'm all down for epic orchestra's but listen to pandemonium from the PSP/GBA then compare it to this. It completely lacks that kick the PSP/GBA had, especially the final boss music. Square-Enix needs to stop trying to monetize games that made money long ago. They made money for a reason and constantly remaking it get's boring after a while. (They've remade Final Fantasy a lot, especially the originals. I'll list them.) FF I - NES/Wonderswan/GBA/PSP/IOS ( Or more accurately, Original NES/Famicom, Wonderswan only in Japan, Final Fantasy Advanced Series + Souls of dawn (GBA) , 20th anniversary, (PSP) Final Fantasy Origins( PSP), Iphones/Phones in general.) FF II - NES/Wonderswan/GBA/PSP/IOS ( Or more accurately, Original NES/Famicom, Wonderswan only in Japan, Final Fantasy Advanced Serious + Souls of dawn, 20th anniversary, Iphones/Phones in general.) FF III - NES/PSP/DS/IOS (This is one of the fews games that wasn't RE-released constantly.) FF IV - SNES/Wonderswan/GBA/PSP/DS/IOS ( The Translation of FFII which was actually IV (SNES), Along with MANY more translations, Wonderswan again, this was the last game I know that was on the Wonderswan, This came Along with the Final Fantasy Advanced Series (GBA), FFIV Including FFIV:AF/Interlude. (PSP) FFIV 3D or the DS/IOS Version. I'll stop here because i think you get the point.
