Have not played PR, but played the Advanced version. The new dungeon there was... interesting. It at least gave a 'legit' way to get the Onion gear that wasn't unreasonable. However, it locked the Onion Knight class behind this weird interaction feature. Iirc, on the final dungeon you can backtrack to save up unti you enter the Dark World. It's a pain but I believe I did that when I played. I then resorted to save states as I don't think you actually can backtrack from Dark World. I also save stated to try to get Onion gear, but I didn't know enough about the RNG to do that. If I ever play the NES version again I'll just glitch to the Onion gear. I'm willing to bet that glitch was removed in the PR.

Aftertaste does matter and even in Pixel Remaster (that allows saving anywhere) that World of Darkness is not that fun. It is a maze and enemies are brutal. That is discounting bosses which are even more brutal. Cloud of Darkness is just automated chore of putting ninjas to attack and sages healing.

Interesting, I last played FF3PR over 2 years ago and all I remember is just being so happy when I didn't have to struggle through Dark World. I didn't find it too much of a maze, but there are of course some hidden shortcuts. The real maze dungeons belong to FF2!

​@LaserTrapProductions Yo!!! Like so the vending machines in Final Fantasy 7 rebirth may have started all the way back in Final Fantasy 3? Kinda like that Zack FF7 crisis core reunion where the shop is like on the menu.
