He's not a good guy. He's still a villain that works for Golbez/Zemus. He is, however, an honorable warrior, he hates cheap tactics and unfair fights. That's why he always heals you when you fight him, and why he also disagreed with Lugae's experiments. IIRC, he also congratulate you and wish you luck when you defeat him.
