The last optional boss that I can take on in the game. If you have defeated Ozma already this guy will be a complete joke and he even knows it. Use essentially the same methods and equipment as you used for Ozma and you will be fine. If you want to know my recommendations overall then check the Ozma fight description. I also really like how they used this song in this fight I think it's really cool that they did that.

I’ve always been curious what exactly you’re activating behind that rock to trigger the boss.

One thing I really like about this game is the fact that all boss have somewhat low health, even the strongest bosses can be killed in five "9999" damage attack. They don't rely on stupidely long health bar to create difficulty. One thing I dislike is the fact that boss turns are hidden which means I never understood when I was younger that some boss had multiple atb gauge allowing them to act multiple times or that they had counter moves that triggered sometimes because of what I did. FFX was much better when it comes to making you understand that (well it didn't use ATB system but the way turns were displayed was much clearer). One thing I absolutely despise is that despite the generally solid boss design you ended up just waiting for zidane to steal items from the boss cause they were always high quality. Which meant you either passed on good loot that you were basically meant to have, or you were having a miserable experience totally dependant on RNG. I love that game but damn stealing single handedly made bossfight so much worse than they actually were.

I think the bosses are too easy in ffix. I think more health would have balanced this better.

@@mark-ge2yl I think the bosses aren't harder in most other ff games, they're just long drawn out battle but once you got a strategy that can survive a few turns you just gotta repeat for 30 more turns and it's not great bosses. Like, look at omega weapon in ff8, unless you're doing a challenge run that limits your ressources the battle is basically spamming limit breaks until it does it's big attack, mega elixir, repeat for 1million health. I like Renzokuken's animation as much as the next person, but I think after the 5th one in a fight I got it.

@Laezar1 I know what you mean but the bosses are underwhelming in ff9 if you are a good level. They are over in 2-5 mins

@@mark-ge2yl level doesn't do much in ff9 actually most of your stats come from equipment, so there isn't a lot of difference between a low and high level party. But yes again the fights are quick but that's exactly what I love and I explained why in my earlier comment. Other final fantasy fights aren't harder they're just more drawn out. Like, you can definitely criticize ff9 combat for lacking depth if the comparison is with other RPG series, but compared to other FF games in particular, in particular the previous entry it's a definite step up in my opinion, the others were easy too just with a less smooth pacing. Now if I want a less story focused game that gets me stuck at long and tense boss battles I don't play final fantasy I play something like SMT nocturne or whatever.

@Laezar1 I think ff9 is a great game. Great characters, great looking abilities but the story isn't the best. I like the story but ff7, ff10 have stronger storyline imo. I never got why people think ff9 has the best story. The villain is very ff6 but less crazy.

Yea if you defeat Ozma before Hades there's special dialog to it. It doesn't affect the outcome of the battle or add anything special, it's a general compliment to the player. Another enemy also mentions Ozma as well.
