Question for anyone who knows the speed running scene for this. Is thunder dragon farming not worth the time investment saved by just killing mobs and bosses quicker due to being hyper leveled? Or is it just to risky? Even just killing one or two gives so many early levels it's a massive power spike and I'm just curious as to if it's worth it to make up for risking being to low level thruout the game
@mrzwanzig4604 ай бұрын
Farming for levels in FF9 runs is generally not worth it because your damage scales up only very slightly by level. The weapon you're using is vastly more impactful, so keeping that up to date is a priority in speedruns, as well as stacking multipliers like MP Attack, Killer abilities and elemental boosts.
@TheAuron324 ай бұрын
Even in a normal play though you will want to steal every chance you get, especially bosses since its not just the equipment's better stats but also the abilities they can teach too. Then later on you can combine old gear to make even stronger gear. Finally Zidanes ultimate attack powers up the more you steal successfully. HOLY SHIT DID NOT KNOW ABOUT NECRONS AI! that guy can be pure hell without any tricks and such, nice to see him get shut down so easily.

As a speed run this game prolly sucks yeah, as a casual game and as long as you like turn-based random encounters, its one of the best for things you can do in a game. stealing from bosses almost always nets you something good, hidden collectibles = something good, chocobo hot and cold = something good. Just an example of a game that rewards the player for checking everything. All weapons are worth using due to the random spells and passives that you learn off them. It does suck that some things are miss-able if you don't get them initially though.
