I know the song's old. I know the song's short. I know the game it came from wasn't really the best. But this song is still one of my strongest childhood memories, ever.

They music from Mystic Quest was top tier. Anyone can say what they want about the game play, the music is absolutely top tier.

Awesome rendition dude, and really, this game is very memorable with all ita gimmicks and obviously with its awesome soundtrack. The guys who composed this back in the day should be freaking proud of this masterpiece.

This is VRC6. Definitely capable of being played on an NES. Also, awesome job. I'm one of the few people who enjoyed Mystic Quest for more than its music.

The fact that you retained the ultra hype intro just completely baffles me. You did a damn good job, man!

The background of this song always made me think of a racing game. One of the best battle songs ever, and yet another perfect rendition.

I'm using the Konami VRC6 expansion chip, which was used in the JP version of Castlevania III for the Famicom. Everything you're hearing could be done on an unaltered Famicom system. The NES lacks the pins necessary for the VRC6 chip to plug into, but a bit of modification would allow the NES to play this track as well. So technically, the answer is no, unless you mod your NES, like this: /watch?v=6zDJvgTc80k

Thank heavens we now have the Everdrive N8 Pro to mimic the various expansion chips. Not quite like the actual chips, but good nevertheless.

You know what. Sometimes the most mediocre games have some of the best music. And yes I said mediocre. FF Mystic Quest wasn't terrible...just meh. Excellent mix!!

It was basically a Gameboy game on the SNES - it was a 4-megabit cartridge for God's sake on a 16-bit console LOL That said... it's music is absolutely STELLAR and kicks ass to this day! Mediocre game otherwise in all other aspects.

konami should've released a vrc6 expansion that can be plugged into the nes expansion port

If you're thinking in NES terms, then yes, there are too many tracks here. The NES only ever used the 5 channel 2A03 sound chip. The Famicom, however, had extra pins where expansion chips could be plugged in, like the VRC6. That's why I never title my covers "NES remixes", only "8-bit". The setup I'm using here is legitimate, just not for an NES (unless you modded it). Don't let anyone make you feel bad for not knowing about a rarely used expansion chip only available in Japan for the Famicom.
