Love the video, J7Jase! I'd been wanting to make my own mod of TLW ever since I came up with the Preparation Menu in 2021, and so with ReMixed, I just tried to stuff as many QoL features in it as possible, while upgrading or replacing as many disliked/unwanted features/characters/abilities as possible - all while still trying to keep the game feeling like it's about 90% vanilla. The thought process was "what would I expect to see in a remaster if it was faithful to the original game but wanted to patch up its weaker aspects?" And I think this mod takes care of that without losing anything that made folks such fans of the vanilla game/s.

Yeah I think this one with the retreat options make it so good and amazing for an FFT mod. I did a few Let Us Cling Together videos in the past and some other Final Fantasy videos. While who modded TLW/ReMixed deserves eternal thanks for creating fft's definitive edition for FANS like us, I'd love to recommend ReMixed to 1st time fft newbies too but can't mainly due to it nerfing boss challenge removing *Required* Riovanes Wiegraf/Rafa saving. Will ReMixed also get a choice to custom-install piece-wise split as separate patches grouped by "feature's divergence from og/TLW" i.e. a ReMixed Missions/PrepMenu ppf + QoL ppf + generic job edits ppf + unique unit edits ppf + easymode events ppf for all gamers' tastes (or at least some kinda "anti" PPFs to unpatch certain features from the full ReMixed ppf like Riovanes Wiegraf/Rafa saving requirements or other rebalancing upgrades of generic jobs / unique units that have more of a ng+ feel departing from the more vanilla fft/TLW challenge level experience for 1st time ever players? :)🙏 Tho ReMixed is 100% the best way to play for existing fans who already know og 👍

I’m so curious tok play this! I played every FF game at least 20 times through growing up (as you could in grammar school…especially 90s). That counts the majority in which you grind for hours to have 4-5 characters fully maxed with every piece of best gear. This game I played at least 50 times through, and with GameShark it was AMAZING to replay with a mostly Templar knight party (Wiegraf, Vormav, Kletian, Izlude, Dycedarg, Zalbaag, and Celine/Lead)…along with “no charge”/Teleport 2.

There are some odd ones even though I do enjoy and laugh at "Dycedarg's Elder Brother" lol. But yeah I think there are pros and cons of both. I do miss the old names of a lot of the abilities on the PS1. As we speak though I believe a WOTL script is being worked on slowly. But I do love the quality of life on this version!

I have definitely played Fire Emblem! The Preparation Menu absolutely takes some inspiration from the games I've played in the series, haha. With no way to deploy units right on the field, using something akin to the pre-battle menus I've had in FE games was the next best thing, and it adds so much functionality to FFT!

Through a customized hack that added status effects to the Aim skills. It can't be done in the Patcher. The hack should be included in the Resources.

Something I would have done with Cloud’s character is this He can use Limit with any sword. But… Cloud has to learn every Limit ability with the Materia Sword, first Providing some challenge during the process and making the use of other swords another reward for the grind

I had been messing around with FFTPatcher making similar adjustments to some of the character classes already. Vanilla archers are so underwhelming on the players side. It's on my to-do list, but I've spent the last month or so pouring my free time into playing BG3 instead. Haven't even started, so no ETA yet. I was going to make it use the WotL script originally, but at the time I started, I didn't know how to do my own ASM hacks, and TLWotL had more hacks and moved existing ones - so I didn't think I could combine it & the QoL hack pack. I chose the QoL over the script changes.

Got thinking… On the topic of tactics and thinking about the most event involved to get unlockable character *Cloud* Strife and how low rated he is… Also there are people who say they like a challenge but never does anyone take their lvl1 clay Cloud, change things up to make him a strong unit… As he doesn’t have to be in his Squire “Ex-Soldier” class nor does he HAVE to have his ‘limit’ set of abilities as his second set of abilities available if in a different class. I imagine he can/ could be great but people hit the hills as the challenge sits/ lies before them… Just really got thinking about that.. Every challenge but a raising and making a strong Cloud has been considered… I guess *I am the only one* who doesn’t feel a character is only as good as it’s default class…. 😅

The reason people feel that way about special units is likely because by the time you get the FIRST special unit, it's already late Chapter 2. If you're just using generic jobs for them, they're so much worse off than the generics you've been raising since the start of Chapter 1. Especially considering the special units that just plain suck don't join the party until Chapter 4, of all times... So, yeah, while Cloud still starts at level 1 here (and can be boosted to almost current party level through a single Dispatch Mission), I made sure he, and others who objectively suck in their base special job, got buffed as needed.

That is making a game as intended, a challenge. As most of the time easy to too easy… Of course a challenge is not always what one wants or seeks but… It can be great fun lol 😆 Though… Can also be a pain BUT often bares fruit… Just something you don’t see or hear of people bothering with. And me, I really do like special units… Though I admit I have still NEVER done anything with Cloud but at end game… Eh, bit late to really be into raising/ improving units as so much less story to enjoy them in… Next to nothing… Plus I am the only one who’ll ever see the fruits of my work so nothing I can even sow off/ display to others lol.. @@J7Jase Really, I just think it’s unfair Cloud gets a rep for being bad/ sucking cause of his base job. Lol in a tactic tourney (using mods & cheats..) a guy turned his Reis into a Dancer with… I think it was Items.. But pulled her out of her AWESOME, super powerhouse base job and turned her into something different… So, changing up a special recruit is the norm… So, Cloud doesn’t need to be in his to be good/ useful and it’s not weird or out of place for his to be something else & not use the limits. Lol maybe leveled in a different class like DK, with a materia blade his Limit moves could have a actual punch 😂

I like Cloud and 7 as well but his base and Limits just aren't great. As for the PVP patch, I'm not familiar with it as of right now, but in the base game I still rather leave Reis as is in most cases. But that is just me.

In my opinion not really, it just saves time when it comes to learning abilities in my opinion so less time grinding.

Only a little. For the most part, most people equip JP Boost up until getting the good skills from Calculators or Ninjas. In the modding scene since even before I joined, it's been widely criticized as being so optimal that it dominates your support skill slot forever even though it does literally nothing to help your in-battle performance. Also worth noting that the replacement of Propositions means that you're intended to have more than just five active main units. So it makes non-Dual Wield or Barehanded support skills actually matter while also encouraging use of the new Dispatch Mission feature. An outcome I was quite satisfied with in the end.

I would, though I may be biased as the creator of the mod. However, there are so many quality of life improvements in this mod that smooth out the roughest edges of the game. In every existing version of the game, there is an Infamous potential softlock that can occur if you only use one save file and don't have any of the right kinds of Builds on your main character. You get locked into a 1 V 1 duel against an opponent with an overpowered skill set, and then for the second phase of the fight you're up against a bunch of powerful spellcasters that have the potential to wipe out most of your party in one round. You can't leave the battle at this point, do any training, purchase any equipment, none of it. Lots of people have stories of having to start an entirely new save file at this point. Others were lucky and were able to rely on a cheese strategy to get through. With my mod, you can refund your abilities to purchase different ones, choose to skip the duel, and in later versions even just leave the fight entirely.

@@Nyzer_ FF Tactics ReMixed Mod *not* recommended if never played FFT since it erases the most memorable challenge of FFT's most iconic boss battles. An official SquareEnix remake would correct the real issue which is to let you grind/shop when having saved between back2back battles. What this mod does instead (by encouraging 1st time players to outright skip 1v1 boss as the default path) would never be allowed by devs in a remake lol

This mod already lets you retreat from the 1v1 boss back to the world map if not prepared yet in case refunding JP isn't helpful enough already. So clearly encouraging 1st time players to skip the 1v1 by default on top of all the QoL "advantages" is going against the original devs intention of the 1v1 boss "skill checking" player's main party member & "strategy checking" the player's brain in a game called ff *TACTICS* 😂

For anyone stuck, Guts is enough to win 1v1 thanks to jp by then from spillover. Also on the road to Riovanes you win gear that nulls boss' main atk dmg anyway. Anyone who got stuck nowadays could just lookup all the how to insta-win strats as it's not truly a softlock when smartest strat used. So making the most memorable iconic 1v1 of FFT skippable is basically saying gamers these days aren't *tactical* 🧠 enough to learn how to win in a game called *TACTICS* 🤣

Yeah, WotL didn't make any new animations for the game. As for the physical copy? I can't remember if there was a live-patch option for the PSP. I'm pretty sure that I just made a copy of my own UMD, patched that, and saved it to the PSP to play as its own separate file. You'd need a modded PSP either way, though.

@J7Jase yeah Luso seems hard to use or get a read on. Especially given his speed is so much lower then your starting units

As a Blue Mage in all but name, Luso is generally best off in a mage job, or with a mage secondary. His skillset is quirky on purpose, but there are a few core abilities like Choco Cure, Wind Soul, Oink, and Magic Spirit that all work very well for mages. But Goblin Punch and Drain Touch are also decent on melee units, Poison Nail and Beaking use weapon range so they can go with ranged weapon attacks, and Mighty Guard and Bad Breath are great status options that work well on most any job. So it really just depends what you want to go with!

As long as your PSP is modded, it can play PSX games! As for modded ones... that's another question. I know Elric tested TLW on his own modded PSX and it worked, but I don't know if anyone ever tested it on a modded PSP. And ReMixed adds more ASM hacks - some of which I made from scratch myself. So, even though I followed modern modding convention that SHOULD allow it to be compatible, I can't confirm if ReMixed works on a modded console.

Depends on what you are looking for. If you want something with quality of life, a few additions and something is is closer to base AKA vanilla FFT this is the mod for you. If you want a more custom game that uses FFT as the base but really changes things up then you may like Reach the Future or Journey of the Five.

The Lion War is generally much closer to vanilla, warts and all. Though it doesn't let you change the loadouts of your guest characters like vanilla does. ReMixed gives you a metric fuck ton of quality of life improvements and some light rebalancing to improve the worst options for characters and jobs. It just depends whether you prefer the purity of the original or something that is still about 90% accurate, what is much more polished and has learned from the progress made by other games in this genre since the 90s. Being able to skip scenes and leave battles, for example.

It depends which Tactics Ogre. If you are mean Tactics Ogre Let Us Cling Together then that is the game made by Quest and Matsuno back in the day before they came to Square and made Final Fantasy Tactics. Although Let Us Cling Together did get a PSP remake and a remastered tweaked version in Tactics Ogre Reborn. I rather keep it short but both are wonderful strategy rpg games.

​@@hianI actually prefer the PSP script, myself - but when I started working on the mod, I chose the PSX script for ease of use, as the PSP script version of The Lion War requires more ASM hacks for certain things, and at the time, I didn't know how to modify them and ensure I could move them to avoid conflicts with quality of life hacks. It wasn't until rather late in the mod's development that I got that figured out.

I've now tried modding two different psx files and neither of them work. What is the base file needed for this mod? I desperately want to play it, I've successfully modded isos before, I don't know why I can't get this one working. Also I couldn't get duckstation to work either. What am I missing?

You need the PS1 version of Final Fantasy Tactics along with PPF O Matic. If Duckstation isn't working for some odd reason you might need a BIOS for it. I'd honestly check out UrCasualGamer's Patreon for emulator installations. He has no fluff and gets to the point with his videos too. Hope that helps you out.

You mean FFT or mods? You can play FFT normally by backing up your UMD or PSX disc. Or play it on mobile from the Google Play/Apple Store. For the most dangerous monsters to leave in Critical HP are the Demons the Ultima and Archaic. They have an attack that will deal damage based on their HP lost

I don't believe you need to join to download the PPF. The monster that would be dangerous is, most likely, the Bomb. Low HP means it'll self-destruct.

I'm afraid not. It is not currently and likely never will be possible to include the cutscenes, and at the time that I started the project I could not use the PSP translation due to certain hacks for it conflicting with quality of life hacks that I considered vital. I do know how to fix that now, but it would take a while to do, and I've been getting quicker or more important tasks done first. Fingers crossed, I should have the option to pick between translations ready sometime next year.

You have to use a completely new and different unpatched FFT ISO. You can just keep backing it up with your disc. Hope that helps and clarifies things.
