Final Fantasy Tactics: No War But Class War - Anarchy in Gallionne

Final Fantasy Tactics is video game which contains an incredibly rich story and engrossing game play mechanics which has, despite being published in 1997, remained popular in the Final Fantasy community, with an especially dedicated fan-base.
This video will discuss the way the game utilizes both its narrative and mechanics to explore the idea of class struggle and how this is reflected in the real history of 14th and 15th century England.

Love it. Wiegraf is one of my favourite characters in all of gaming. Watching his hope to improve the condition of his people thwarted by Ramza , and then turning in desperation to evil to achieve these same ends was so tragic. FFT has to be the only game that has you slaying the true heroes.

Glad you enjoyed it. There's this sliding scale of depth to the FF series, given how long the franchise has been in production and the size of the fandom in general, there is a lot to discuss. Maybe it's their ubiquity but I belive (as this is my second video series to do so) that they are excellent pieces of media to examine and use as a base to present socio-political concepts which might otherwise be too dry or seemingly unrelated.

I'm glad you enjoyed it. The real trick with materialist analysis is that it can be applied to just about anything, because it's such an effective analytic methodology. It's just a lot easier when the political elements of popular media are self evident.

Honestly, having never even played any of the games in the franchise, not at this point. I'm going to make a hard pivot into overt weeb content after I'm done with this series, as it's where my interests primarily lie. But who knows what the future holds?
