The War Mechs are such an interesting addition. They briefly mention robots in some dialogue, but it's not super central. Plus, with the 4% encounter, that'd be a story your friends on the playground wouldn't believe

Tip to find Warmech easier: The PRNG for the encounter table in this game is 100% predictable. That is, the order in which you find different enemy formations is predetermined from the very moment you boot on your NES or emulator, and everytime you power off and on the NES again, the list resets (the list does not reset if you just press the reset button). You will find Warmech in fight numbers: 7; 20; 24; 34; 37; 59; 120; 133; 138; 190; 192; 211 ; 7 (263); 20 (276); etc... So what you could do is: After saving just outside the tower, $turn off and on your NES, then tackle the tower and$ count every fight you are encountering until just before entering the final hallway. Then, keep fighting the enemies of the room before the hallway over and over until you know the next fight is a Warmech fight (you do this because the enemies are way softer in that room than the final hallway, so it's easier to save your spell charges and survive). Finally, enter the hallway knowing that it'll be for sure the Warmech fight. Cheers! :) Edit: Added a bit of text between the $s.

Is the table available to get the fight numbers for other rare enemies and rare enemy group formations?
@joseespartamarin91742 жыл бұрын
@@e2theeyepie I don't know. I know a web page that has a lot of game mechanics from the game, and one of the things it has is an encounter table that tells you which enemy group (up to 8 groups per area) appears at which moment. I do not know, however, in which group every enemy belongs to, other than Kyzokus (group 3). I know the Warmech belongs to group 7 only because is the only group with a "12/256" (4.7%) chance to appear. I found that encounter table, along with A LOT of mechanics from the game, searching "final fantasy nes mechanics" in any browser. The first page's title should be: Final Fantasy - Game Mechanics Guide - NES - By AstralEsper That's were I found the table. All the way down in section VI (Battle Section). Maybe there's a web page that has every single enemy's group somewere, but I couldn't found it myself (Sorry). You can always boot up your NES/EMU and start to get random encounter while you check the table, and once you find the enemy you wanter, remember in which group belongs and that's it.

I just loaded up the PS1 version to check his dialogue out of curiosity, and he said "How wonderful! The power of water has revived! I am sure the land will likewise regain its former glory." Judging by the dialogue, he probably says something else before the Kraken is defeated. Also, when I was trying to talk to him, that _one_ NPC tried to block the bridge to keep me from getting there.

Can I just point out how simple of a concept Warmech is in the grand scheme of things? As the series progressed further and further away from traditional fantasy and into futuristic steampunk Orwellian societies, the idea of a bloodthirsty killer android armed with rocket launchers and machines guns being an optional boss in this world full of magic, witchcraft and sorcery is just a hilarious concept to me. I think we dont even discover Space Travel until Final Fantasy IV.

@@KnightofFunnyJunk It can seem strange if your concept of Fantasy doesn't extend beyond the European Dark Ages, where little technological advancements were being achieved. Sure, Final Fantasy eventually began to integrate more sci-fi style plots in later games, but Final Fantasy is not a "swords and sorcery" meets "Spaceships and lasers" future fantasy concept like you seem to think. Final Fantasy (NES/MSX) came out a year after Laputa: Castle in the Sky, an anime film where an ancient society built robots and a castle that could fly. Their society possessed technology beyond what we had, and then the society eventually crumbled and was forgotten. This is almost certainly where the Sky Fortress concept containing computers, robots, and a mechanized nuclear-powered war machine (Warmech) came from. So it's not "mixing future and past", it's simply integrating and sensationalizing the fantasy concept of ancient civilizations possessing advanced tech....a concept that isn't so far removed from reality when you look at stuff like the pyramids, Roman and Greek automata, the Baghdad Battery, the Antikythera mechanism, Archimedes' parabolic reflector (Heat Ray) and many other advanced creations from thousands of years ago that were way ahead of their time. TL;DR Final Fantasy is not about mixing future and past. It's sensationalizing the advanced technology of the ancients.

I was a kid when I played this, was the late 90s, so I had the internet and a guide for this game... But it couldn't have prepared me for this... I ran into this thing my first time in this room and it obliterated me after I haven't saved for hours. This kind of thing kinda scarred me for life, the rare robot in the late game dungeon of a fantasy game. When I played this much later in life, one of the remakes, I made sure to take my revenge!

Game prioritizes good equipment and spells over levels. That includes the items you can actually use in battle. Also Black Belt is meta af lol Heck, with some good luck and strats, you could even beat the Ice Cave and get the Airship before beating Gurgu Volcano.

I like using Warmech as practice for fighting Chaos. At the end of the battle vs Warmech, your party will gain some level ups. 😃
@ReflectionOfPerfection8 ай бұрын
Not only that but Chaos is significantly easier. WarMech only has two attacks and both are devastating whereas Chaos uses elemental and status attacks that are negated by ribbons and dragon armor. If you use the exact same strategy for WarMech (casting Fast on everyone), Chaos is a breeze

Have I just been looking at wizard/sorcerer sprites wrong for my entire life? - They look like well-dressed anthropomorphic cthulhus with puppy ears and I can't unsee it. FF1 was my fist ever game - I was like 4 or 5 and - obviously sucked at the time, but never got over my love for the genre - like Octopath is super fun for buff-stacking strategy bits x probability ... terrible story though. I miss the real one - I still have my NES cart but the last I played was the DoS GBA port on DSL - the one with 4 bonus dungeons - one if 40 levels - and bosses that make chaos look like an imp... Hoping SquareEnix gets a deal, like Rare, to port the original to NSO.
