Iirc, the irony there is, unlike Smant, he hasn't done a ludlocke in one run technically (the story goes that pokemonchallenges was telling Ludwig how to play during the last few runs, which means that Pokemonchallenges himself has a permanent stain against his record regarding this particular challenge run since his directions led to at least one of the run resets Ludwig had to do :P )

19:50 Fun fact: this is actually not how stat changes work. Anything that changes stats, be it a boosting/lowering move, an ability, an item, etc, affects the actual stat, *not* the base stat. The base stat is an intrinsic value of the Pokemon that determines what the displayed stat number in game will be. Anything that affects stats changes that number directly. So for example, Azumarill has base 50 attack with Huge Power. This ability does not make it so that its base attack becomes 100. Instead, Azu's actual 218 attack as displayed in-game (assuming Adamant 252 ATK at level 100) will become 436, which is equivalent to base 149 attack. The same principle applies to a Choice Band. If Lopunny has a base attack of 106, it will hit an in-game stat of 342 (again assuming max attack at level 100 for ease of analysis, the math scales down with level). With a band it hits 513, which would be equivalent to a raw base attack of 184, not 159. That's 1 point less than Mega Heracross and would place it at the third highest base attack of any Pokemon. So that Lopunny was actually quite a bit stronger than Ant makes it out to be, and it's actually more immediately threatening than its own Mega because Mega Lop can't hold a band.

My take on the shiny clause or I think what the unwritten rule was is you can catch any shiny you encounter. As in naturally. I think allowing shiny hunts is case by case. Since nuzelockes were mostly KZbin series they wouldn't sit there and shiny hunt for 3 hours they had a video to make. But a streamer can use the clause and fill up their team.
