My reactions: *sees everyone chilling in class* "Glad to see things went back to normal" *sees captain* "Oh. Did they go back in time?" *suddenly sees everyone bleeding to death* "... No" *cinque starts crying and everyone huddled up* "No... if I may tell you something about Machina before you dismiss him, there is a BIG reason why he became...the way that he was in this game. If you read the novel, which is the experiment done by mother BEFORE the events of the game, when Machina finds out about Izana's death, he doesn't get angry with class Zero like he does in this game. He understands actually, that this is war and his death isn't Class Zero's fault but the wars instead. This way, he built a bond with class zero, taught them about life outside of being trained as weapons, gave them the hope of having dreams - where class zero talked about what they wanted to become after the war ended. "Mother" aka Arecia didn't like that. Machina was weakening them - since she wanted them to become agito but after the million times she did the experiment, class zero always chose to remain human and died. So, Machina was in the way. At the end, Rem become the judgement after Cid dies, she kills everyone and Queen jumps in the way to save Machina. They all do this to protect him and gives them their phantoma so he could defeat Rem. Machina ends up killing Rem and while he is there crying surrounded by the dead bodies of his comrades and love, Arecia appears and tells him that this was all his fault, that it was because of HIM class zero strayed from their paths. So, he begs her to "fix this" and that no matter what, he wanted things to turn back. So, then comes the events of the game. Arecia made sure that in this experiment Machina wouldn't be a hindrance to her plans to open Etro's gates since that is what she wants out of the experiments. But no matter what, in the end, Machina loses everyone over and over again. "But the bond formed between Machina and Rem and Class 0, she felt, would weaken her children. Over the course of events of this cycle, Machina has developed a thirst for power, a fear of loss. Those feelings would surely be etched onto his soul. So that Machina would distance himself from Class 0, Arecia would have to make someone close to him weak. And that would have to be none other than Rem. So she drew their Phantomas, and rewound time." So she even made Rem sick this time. So, don't shit on him. Arecia is the true "poop" character. If you don't believe this than recall why Cater always brought up "da ja vu" because they've done this a million times but they cant really remember their past lives. Read the novel. All these people saying Arecia is evil, she's actually the one betting on humanity to become Agito and open Etro's gate themselves, it's Gala the other god who causes Tempus Finis and summons the Rusus to slaughter humanity hoping to tear the gate open with an influx of human souls. The Arbiter is also his design, fun fact, although Cid was the final antagonist it was not by his doing, he actually commits suicide to try and stop himself becoming the arbiter. Arecia has to remain somewhat neutral, the world has failed to become agito over 60 million times, each and every time she has to observe the world throughout all of its countless cycles then pick the 16 aspects of humanity she wishes to nurture to become Agito. 4 of these were the negative aspects and thus weeded out, Machina and Rem represent 2 of those. Class Zero are the 12 best traits and normally every cycle they become L'cie and die fighting the invasion.

Judging on how her and gala destroyed and recreated the world 600,000,000 times, something the FF13 mythos Fal'Cie couldn't even do once, I would think that they are more powerful than a simple Fal'Cie. The Fal'Cie are powerful, yes, but they are nothing to these two or the surrounding pantheon. Bhunivelze, Etro, Mwynn, Pulse, Lindzei... Simply put, there is only one Fal'Cie who could even come close to these two in power, and that's Pulse, AKA the first Fal'Cie. They are agents of Lindzei. But in summary, Arecia came out all right. Gala is still pure f*cking evil though.

Yes he is imperfect but that's the point he learns and becomes a better person through these experiences and he dedicates his life to recording the great deeds of class 0. But you are right, Machina understood death unlike them. So if you talked to them in the class room before they went out to fight cid, most of them said they finally understood machina because now mother was not going to be there to revive them so they knew death was coming.

The fact that they were hoping for a peaceful future with no more wars, only peace and stupid things, in a good way, like flowers and history, that's the point where destroys my heart. But Square needed to rip me apart with Machina and Rem going to the room and for the first time ever, they saw corpses, their friends corpses, and also for the first time, they knew who were they, they remembered everything, that's such a sad, cruel and best ending possible they could have. Now they can finally have memories of their friends. Fuck you Square for making them suffer like this.

Wow what a game and what an ending! Insanely emotional. FF type-0 in my opinion had the best combat of any final fantasy, you could never get bored with such a diverse range of combo's, attacks, set ups and such a healthy monster rota. I'm interested to know what others peoples set ups were to give me some ideas when I go back to complete this game on 'Finis'. My main set up was Jack, Sice and Seven. (Jack OP, Sice maelstrom/death aura ftw, Sevens whip blade too fukin awesome to resist)

I'm glad that Machina and Rem survived. As much as people are hating on Machina he was one of the easiest characters to follow given he had one of the only experienced voice actors in the game. Some of class zero just sounded cringe worthy to listen to. And after the whole torment with his brother dying and wanting to protect Rem, become stronger to protect her, shut everyone else out to do so. Then when it was actually him who (technically) kills her by accident. I think they deserved a break. On another note the fact that class zero's final act was putting up that monument behind them out of their weapons and cloaks for a 'graceful' and 'this is where we died' moment was just too much!

I actually think this was among the best endings in the Final Fantasy series. Most others have the typical happy feel-good ending. So, for this one to go the opposite way was a nice twist. A question, though. We know Class 0 died, but I'm not sure I understand what the rest of the outside world ended up like. It still looked dark and gloomy. Did the world go into a post-apocalyptic state after all that? I hear a second playthrough opens things up more, so I'm about to start a second round.

After Class Zero died, The crystal lost their power because Arecia cease from the continent and abandon her experiment. The world went to almost apocalyptic state. Machina became new leader of the continent and the prosper return to the world. Also, since all crystal lost their power, including Suzaku's, all moogle died in the game.

the feels were too high in this so tragic, they went through all of that, they get to that happy moment and then it goes back to reality, they're all close to dying and start crying, urrgh so much feels so hard to contain even sadder they manage to get through it all and laugh and then the credits....i didn't even realize they made the flag out of their weapons and capes but the fact their corpses hold it up....so many feels so sad Machina and Rem find them and its like A) how and why are you brought back and B) well i hope you're happy Atleast they were very much affected by it so much so they dedicated their lives to making the world better through class 0 example, that was very nice development for them Very sad end best final fantasy

jc9622 no, the 2nd play through on some of the regular missions you get a second choice - and you go with the second option which is a beefed up harder alternate route. Do those - then on your third play through go to the crystarium and you get your new ending

I really love all the characters and to see they all die in the ending is just too painful and sad.. Machina was stupid throughout the game. He wanted power so much to protect the people he loves and ended killing them instead, like Rem. But, I read the manga and yeah, Arecia is evil in the manga. She's the one that cause Machina to be stupid. She even made Rem sick so that Class 0 didn't become weak. But, in the end SE made Arecia opened her heart to listen to the souls of her children, that's why she didn't revived them cause they decided to stay humans and die together. Arecia even end the spiral and erase the Crystals' existences. This way, Machina and Rem won't forget their times with Class 0. Even if they died, their memories stay inside Machina and Rem's hearts and that's what important. Throughout the game, the fact that they can't remember the person who died really just make me mad. So, I'm glad that they fixed that in the end. Still.. the ending is just too sad. This probably the saddest FF game I've ever played. Fabula Nova Crystallis series is really twisted and complicated. The storyline is great but yeah, damn complicated. SE should release a more laid back and happy FF game next time cause my heart is really damaged after playing this one.

If I may ask, how were you able to get the cgi sequence to record? Whenever I try and get it the audio will make it so it stops recording. Will muting the audio through the options in the game allow you to record it? Thanks! Great video too!

I used an Elgato Game Capture HD 60 to record the footage. I didn't experience any problems recording it, though. Have you checked the settings of your console?

This took me a while to figure out as well, but basically: you finish the game a second time in New Game Plus and once you have, check under the History tab. Way down at the bottom are two cutscenes, which are the alternate ending + credits.

jojkill New Game Plus is your completed save from your first playthrough. When you finish the game for the first time, you're given the option to save. When you load that save, you start the game from scratch, but with all your stats and loadouts intact.

I really wanted to cry a bit at the end of the game, but I really couldn't connect with any of the characters. Not enough time was spent with each individual member of class zero for me to make a connection with any of them. Something that has never happened to me while playing an FF game. Machina didn't realize his mistake until it was too late and Rem just never felt like anything other than something to give Machina a narrative. Overall I felt like I could have loved these guys and in the end I could only pity them :( Also the plot didn't seem coherent at all. To the point where things just seemed to happen either to force drama or make things more intense. I see that people say I should do a second playthough and I think I will because as of right now I am very dissatisfied with how the story was told.

Alma It was explained in the cutscene before you're going to Paendemonium and one dialogue from King inside of Paendemonium. The reason why many died at the Rurus invasion because any wounds that Rurus inflicted is directly to your Phantoma and any damaged that your Phantoma is received is incurable.

Their phantasms were destroyed in that final battle and they were basically doomed and they all knew it to they spoke of the future to make themselves feel better

Yea apparently rem and machina transferred their l'ce powers and one by one they all got reked by that thing after doing damage to it or you could say that their powers gave them enough strength to fight back once more but not enough to to stay alive

Kinda suck they cut the japananese voice song in the english version of the game because the song go really well with the atmosphere of the situation in the ending and I didn't really care if the song wasn't sang in english at the end.I hope if they do a Final Fantasy type-0 portable HD they don't remove the japanese voice because I really liked the song at the ending with the japanese voice it was really beautiful like a scream of the heart but it was only correct to keep the unfinished zero song in english voice with the scene of Kurasame and students deaths at the graveyard, the completed song in japanese should have stayed with the game ending in north America version,Lastly the original words of the song are better than the translated english version you can see it by tapping: Cover: Zero by BUMP OF CHICKEN Gendou Idol Season 8: bluerem on youtube,it's heart warming and describe really well the game event and how strong a person is with someone by his side and they can face death with a smile because the person they cherish is here holding them with their body and are a emotional support and that even if they can't smile like they used to because of their suffering and sadness of the war (the case of FF type 0)

i thought the true ending was once you beat it again, arecia removed the crystals, changing history and the war never happaned and class zero was alive.

Kurainingen In fact this ending and the secret ending are both canon. You know that history has been repeating itself for 9029302930293020 times. This is just one of them (The most significant one). This last time class 0 did the opposite of every other time. Seen this Arecia decides to erase the crystals from Orience history. All of this was just an experiment. At the end without the crystals everyone lives happy.
