I love how you turned the third part into a string section. It's written for and primarily performed by an organ (the more pipes, the better) so turning this into a baroque-like piece that could be written by G.F. Händel himself is a bold move and you have my respect for that. Outside of the three "main" versions, the original, Black Mages and Distant Worlds, this is now my favorite version.

What a nice comment, thank you! There is a lot of epicness in the first two and last part, I used part 3 kind of like an adagio in a symphony to give the listener a bit of a break before going back to business. But I don't think an adagio would have fitted Kefka so I went the baroque route, seems like it worked. :)

Splendid work, definitely something you should be enormously proud of accomplishing!! I admit I missed the choir in the 2nd movement a little bit, but was very positively surprised when it made a comeback on the finale - even got the fuzzy feeling I get at the back of my head when I listen to something amazing. Also, the real laugh you incorporated there (rather than using the SNES' sound effect) was a great touch! Thoroughly enjoyed, thank you so much for blessing us with this!! ;D

Thanks a lot for the nice comment. I could not imagine the finale without the choir, but I still wanted to add a personal touch so I used a solo trumpet for the climax. There is also an organ doubling the choir, it's hard to hear but without it the part sounded a bit thin (I stole the idea from Liszt's Faust Symphony).

A lot of people have told me they like part 3 the most, which is the part I got stuck on for a couple of months. I had to get creative with the orchestration and I guess it paid off.

Listening to this with headphones on. Noticed some irregularities. Movement 1: Should be more bombastic to give it the false sense of, “This is the ‘final fight.’” It feels like it was holding back. Movement 2: Although the chanting is heard at particular points, it should be retained like in the original. Also the timpani could’ve been swapped from left to right to exaggerate while keeping the flow until the second half (where the song starts to slow down). Movement 3: Loved it. The only gripe I have is that it didn’t repeat. Movement 4: Interesting take and it went all out. I believe if you were to remaster this, it would do even better with viewership. You have the recipe and talent to make it better.

That laugh was a nice surprise, it's usually just left as Kefka's stock sound effect. Also, congrats on this marathon of a song! Leave it to Uematsu to make a single track that is secretly a small album
@darkshinryu Жыл бұрын
Thanks. Yes it's very long, part 3 was especially tricky because there's not much stuff in the original version and I had to get creative with the orchestration, I threw the entire orchestra at it lol.

I hope you are truly proud of your arrangement of the third movement. It just shows a wonderful understanding and also some good exploration of that part of the material! You kept the frantic energy without the organ and still retained the religious cadences. Really well done. I wonder if the organ in Part 4 could also be some dark/dramatic/unsettling staccato'd or tremolo'd strings instead... just get rid of the organ altogether. :) Lovely.
@darkshinryu10 ай бұрын
Thanks a lot for the nice comment! Part 3 is where I got stuck, I almost didn't finish the piece because of it, than one evening it clicked and I did the whole part in a couple of hours. So I'm glad it seems people liked it. Tremolo strings would probably work well for the beginning of part 4, I went with the organ because I wanted to retain the feeling of the original piece for those few seconds, right before the grand finale. :)

This is good. But, I think it fails to embrace some of the real darkness necessary to make the proper contrast. It's too pretty. Within the original, some of those "burnt edges" were intentional.
@darkshinryu Жыл бұрын
It's true that this is not as dark as the original, and to be honest I wasn't really trying to make it as dark as possible. I guess you can consider it a different take on the Kefka character, yes he's very dark, but also flamboyant.
@killermist Жыл бұрын
@@darkshinryu Well said. That is a valid perspective and concept. I think that from the beginning of the game, Kefka knew full well he was the personification of evil, and he willingly and willfully leaned into the role. He knew the Emperor could be redeemed, and that's why he could not allow that to happen. Kefka knew with full certainty that he could not be redeemed. So, he willfully and willingly accepted the role. This is a very nice orchestration of the original. I appreciate the recontextualization of the original. You don't need my approval, but I approve anyway.
