I also just want to mention how _haunting_ that image of Terra is. It's an unsettling peek into her past as an unfeeling, unaware Imperial superweapon. Frail and pale skinned, spattered with blood. Eyes dull and lifeless beneath the glint of her Slave Crown. Nothing more than a tool used for war. It's no wonder the frozen Esper in Narshe took such desperate measures to break her free from control. It connected with her half-esper mind and saw all those horrible memories...

played this when I was 12, imagining that exact sentiment.... mind control and having to atone for what you were responsible for, deep stuff for an innocent

Just stunning. Haunting image choice.

You're so good with adding little nuances here and there, especially on the loop 👌 The electric guitar towards the end made my ears smile very widely

Some other folks have been saying how the vocals really helped, and I agree. The resonant, operatic choir really drills home the "Devil" theme when "devil" = Kefka. I also think the background electric noises, (not sure what exactly, maybe a synth) that was descending during the A sections brought to the piece some form of anxiety and momentum, which also goes along with the Kefka theme. The piece beginning and ending with the low brass is also fun. I liked where you cut it off, but I also think letting it play one more bar of that motif would've been a more complete conclusion

Oooh, this one is a favorite of mine. This is a stellar arrangement. At first I thought the _thud-ting_ sounds were a bit too different from the original, but I came around when I realized that this is a pretty heavy synth-y, soundfont-y track originally and that's what's shaping my expectations. The left and right alternating synth riffs are still there to anchor the arrangement in its roots, and the electric guitar that comes through in the back half really brings it all together. A great mix of orchestral and electronic that doesn't feel too "extra", if you get my meaning.

The thud-ting sounds were a bit of a tough one - I actually experimented with a more electronic-sounding drumkit to see if I could get a similar sound to the original, but it felt a bit too distracting in combination with the orchestral instruments, so I ended up replacing them! Glad you like it nonetheless, thank you so much for your kind comment! :)

Holy shiet that is a sick illustration of Terra and looks like she has the slave crown on her. That and attached to this song I can only imagine if this is the part where Kefka ordered her to... on the soldiers... *gulp 🏃🔥

@@ChrystalChameleon cool thanks! Your music inspires me to create my own. I've been a video game music nerd since as long as I remember. You've really managed to keep the essence of the song in a new take. Keep going! Your nuance is great. Something about video games is that it often has all these little melodies speaking to one another in the background of the main melody and I felt this here too. 👍❤

Oh! And I now see in a comment about the electric guitar. That was also something that grabbed me. Such a nice little touch. Reminded me of Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. Brilliant!

Not a big fan of this arrangement. What really makes the original stand out to me is: the hammer makes me feel like someone is working with metal… the electric wrench sounds like a robot is actually screwing nuts and bolts on magitek in a conveyor belt. I feel like if you take those two key things from this song, you pretty much neuter the whole song entirely.
