The main boss theme from this game is my favorite theme from all of the FF games. The variations in the instrumentation and the speed and drive of the song is just fantastic. The amount of different notes used in an incredibly wide variety of variation and scale is one that no other Final Fantasy song other than "One Winged Angel" can really match. The drive, the speed, and the melody of the theme perfectly encapulates how you feel during a boss fight in a video game.

Hah! This brings me back to my very first game over. The Reno fight, I was too young to understand off the bat that you need to attack your own party to break em. He just pyramids my whole party and boom. Then it occurred to me to try it when I accidentally discovered you can attack party members. Good times.

There are two things about the way Cloud's warning in the first battle is worded, that can lead to you attacking at the wrong time. 1. The way he words it makes it look like he's telling you to attack while the tail is up, to stop Tail Laser attack happening (though the use of the phrase "counterattack" should hint at what he's trying to say, it's still clumsily written.) 2. There is an exclamation mark at the end of "Attack while it's tail's up!" - that means the sentence is over, so Cloud literally told you to attack while the tail was up.

@@BryanHistory In no way was it a typo, it was a 2 part dialogue box "Attack while it's tail is up" then "It will counter with it's laser" they just didn't have space for it in one box or something, maybe decided to split the dialogue for whatever reason anyways. The slight delay between text boxes makes literally everyone think it's wrong. What's said is correct. If it's really a typo then it would read "don't attack and it will use it's tail laser " obviously that's wrong.

It’s not a typo, but the way it is said. The 2 boxes dialogues suppose to show that the sentence wasn’t completed when Barret went on and attack the thing. Or Cloud couldn’t complete his sentence and Barret already shot the thing. A miscommunication between Barret and Cloud. Actually, it was supposed to be cutscene or a small section control fight story where the party will get a counter attack, but they didn’t do it.

I always loved how the at the start of the game bombing mission plays during the random encounters until you fight the guard scorpion then it switches to Let The Battles Begin the game then does it again but making Let The Battles Begin the main encounter theme, and uses Those Who Fight Further for bosses.

Starscream91 it’s an event as part of the story, suppose to be a CPU control as part of the story where Cloud said a really bad sentence and wasn’t allow to finish his sentence. When he said “ Attack while its tail is up”, Barret already pulled the trigger and got Boss counter-attack. And they suppose to go at each other again after that. In short, we are supposed to get a damage from the counter-attack from the boss for the first time as part of the story. But in the original game, they didn’t do that sequence. That why Cloud sentence sound bad.

Final Fantasy 6 is second best, Final Fantasy 4 after, then FF 5, then Phantasy Star 4, the Shining Force 1, then SF 2. It is all down to personal preference and opinions really. IMO FF 7 is way down the list of greatest RPG's. You've got stuff like Secret of Mana and Seiken Densetsu that are also pretty damned awesome, including other Phantasy Star games, Final Fantasy 9, the Dragon Quest games, etc.

People would not agree with me but I love the idea of magic spells sometimes miss like physical attacks, in most games once you have access to mid or high rank level spells players forget to use other attacks and forget the joy of having a balanced gameplay I just wish more games have this mechanic again, not to rely 100% in magic attacks all the time and be more resourceful with the strategies

I remember not realizing that there was another character in Nibelheim for so long and because I never thought about it, my stepdad reminded me to find this missing character and because my characters were at a very high level at the time, the boss at 29:18 was the easiest boss for me. xD And this was back when I was 9 years old(and I'm 23 now). xDD

You have to use the bolt in the magic even if the MP will decrease. Do not attack while its tail is up. If Cloud is dead, use Barret and select 'Item'. Next, use 'Phoenix Down'(if possible) and give it to Cloud. If the LIMIT gauge is full, use it. It's the best way because it deals more damage on the enemy/boss. If you only have 1 Phoenix Down, choose carefully. The bolt does more damage to the 1st boss.
