I would expect to Sephiroth to be non-playble party member like in the original. That way you get to see him kick ass in action, but still in a detached manner. I feel that making him fully controllable like Cloud would cheapen his presence.

I'm surprised people talk about rebirth like it will be a straight remake. Given that remake itself was more of a sequel to ff7, with wibbly wobbly timey wimey shenanigans, anything could now change in the story. With that in mind, I'm glad to hear previous locations haven't been cut, as I was worried they might cut stuff to make the story more compact. Losing the whispers makes sense as they failed to stop this new timeline being created. With the damage done, there's little point in their continued involvement.

They are going to screw it up royally man. It won't be free roam, so the freedom aspect is dead. Enemies scale so grinding is dead. The open world is one of, if not the greatest aspect of the game. With that gone, and them throwing in this new whisper nonsense, it's going to be garbage. Next thing, Nenaki's father will still be alive, Cid will have died in space and who knows what else. Wouldn't be surprised if they also don't open access to Vincent until part 3. Even though everyone who has played goes to get him as early as possible. I disagree that more parts and less wait time would be better. I think that larger parts, including an open world map would be far superior. You lose so many aspects that made this one of the greatest games ever. Finding secrets, hunting weapons, chocobo Island and breeding. The Highwind, All gone. Plus when I buy a game, I want to own it. Not wait 3 years for all of the content to be released on a $90 AAA title only for it to need day 1 patches and constant updates in order to have it in a properly functioning state, and have to buy the game 3x over to have access to all of the games content when everything is put behind a DLC pay wall. When it's something I truly love like ff7, I'm happy to pay. But I'm not incentivising these gamebcompanies to release barely functioning games to the public and having to wait months to habe it in a playable state. And that's what the digital game marketplace has done to gaming. Take cyberpunk as a prime example. It took several years to habe the game somewhat playable and have access to content that should have been part of the original release instead of them trickling out patches, but taking your money upfront for you to have a pathetic experience that may or may not be fixed in due time. This is why I pirate games first, and if I truly love the game, I'll buy it. But NOT if it's a single player game that requires a constant internet connection either. One day these games will no longer be supported and we will lose them. And we will habe to rely on piracy and patches to remove the online connection requirement just so that we can still keep and play a game that you've already paid for. We rent games now, we don't buy them. And don't ever forget it. So as long as they continue this kind of BS I won't be part of the perpetuation of allowing titles to be shipped half completed, and with the hope that it is completed one day with no guarantees, only for it to one day no longer be hosted and provided by their service. Let alone the DLC nonsense, making you pay for content added to a game you already paid full price for. I can understand if they charge $20-40 and release cheap DLC. But a full priced game you habe purchased to then throw their full content down a year later or so, behind a paywall.. no thanks. I wish I could support the developers I love more, and I do as long as they don't function under these circumstances. Otherwise, it's piracy through and through my friend. Take PT as a prime example. Most people don't even know what it was. But anyone with a playstation with it on it, their console was worth a fortune just from having it because it was removed, never to be seen again until some pirate managed to crack it and put it online for people to mod their machines and install it to see such an incredible thing. Something that could have been one of the greatest horror games ever made. Until thus bs stops and we go back to actually owning our games, and they are released in a playable state, properly tested with all the intended content like games with physical copies used to have to do, I'll support piracy. Some may not agree and I understand that side of things too. But I'm not leaving my access to a game I paid for in the hands of steam, or whomever hosts the files and have them decide one day that I can never play it again. Still have my original ff7, 8, 9 and unfortunately 10 discs. Flawless masterpieces. Except 10, once they lost the world map the games ate ass. But I can play them whenever I like, bug tested and functional with all content available from day 1. And for what few bugs do exist, they are now set in stone as quirks of the game. Features, not bugs 😀

Hoping it covers the beginning of disc 2 until the end of Northern Crater as well. The sequence of events from Temple of Ancients to Cloud giving Black Materia to Sephiroth is the best part of the OG and would be hell of a cliffhanger to leave new players with.

I think sephiroth will be playable but unable to customize his equipment. We'll use him in battle but he'll do is own thing outside of battle. I could also see the devs letting us use him for the dragon fight but nothing else as well.

Important question not asked in the video: what about Cait Sith? I’ve long thought the Remake series could go a long way in changing people’s views of the game’s most hated character. The process is already started with Reeve getting greater focus in the 1st game, and Cait Sith itself has already been shown to exist in the Shinra building. So will he be playable? And will he join the party in a way that does not seem so shoehorned?

Im shocked he missed Cait Sith too. You get him on your first visit to the Gold Saucer which is HIGHLY likely to be in Rebirth since it's not too far into the story. Im thinking Rebirth will end at the end of City of The Ancients, so I think you will get Cait Sith for sure. I think he will be a slow moving character like Barrett was but maybe he will have a different attack set instead of just slamming his visits down on a enemy lol. Aerith just wacked her staff in the original, but she sends waves of magic at enemies now in Remake. So im thinking Cait Sith will probably have a long range attack too. No, I don't think it will be dice as that should be saved for the Limit Breaks but maybe the horn will send a blast of energy towards an enemy? who knows? lol

I think it's safe to assume Gold Saucer will be in Rebirth. It's not far into the next part of the game anyways. In the original you had to go there like 3 times just for the main quest alone. Not sure if they will allow you to go back that many times this time, we'll see. I truly think Rebirth will end after the events of the first time you visit the City of The Ancients.

It seems people are forgetting that sephiroth has now succeeded in changing the timeline to the fourth, new timeline. Meaning the events of the game will not go as the original/as you think. The second part will feature a new direction that most likely explains the time remnant memories shared between zack/cloud/angeal/aeris and sephiroth. Thus is what fully opens up to how sephiroth placing himself in the time stream has allowed him to control time which resulted in the four different timelines. We already saw Aeris establish that she is aware of the time manipulation post end of remake. So that has to be the direction in the second part of at least some heavy sort.

My theory regarding the Nibelheim flashback is that it will serve as the opening/tutorial section. I imagine you press 'new game' and you're immediately shown a stormy night, interrupted by windshield wipers from a shinra truck containing 2 familiar faces.

As far as gameplay additions go, I was thinking how Kalm introduces the Quake spells and it's the first time the party gets an Earth-elemental attack. Remake didn't have Earth element, so I expect Rebirth will introduce more elements. It didn't have a Water element either, so Leviathan might change to Water element.

I've been literally thinking the same thing. I can see that happening with huge confidence. I think it will open with Cloud narrating "This is my story..." lol joking maybe not quite like Tidus from Final Fantasy X but still narrating what happened back then while it introduces Sephiroth and him at the back of the Shinra Truck discussing strategy, or maybe even before that them heading to the truck and they have to defeat some enemies along the way, get in the truck. Maybe this time the dragon will send the truck flying, tumbling and you'll have to get out and defeat it. who knows? And obviously the trek through Mt. Nibel, etc etc.

Crisis Core Reunion seemed like a preview for a lot of the areas we should expect to see in Rebirth. Junon in remade graphics in Reunion, even if short, looked pretty good. And a lot of the monster mobs were well modeled too, so I wouldn't be surprised if they reuse or touch up these mobs for Rebirth.

The upgrade to Unreal Engine 5 is huge. Nanite allows Square Enix to make more detailed larger worlds at a much faster rate. Lumen would have been great in Midgard but allows lightning to be done better and faster too.

Just like it Remake they will expand on characters that haven't got the time and day in the original. I think those characters will def be more in depth, even detailed models. Jesse had no backstory in the original and they showed both of her parents, you went to the house she grew up in and even mentioned they both worked for Shinra, her Dad having health issues and the fact she in a starring role at the Gold Saucer. Zack is a important character to the story so you will get much more of his backstory as well as his parents. I wouldn't worry too much.

Thank goodness for FFU, for I was just kinda wondering about news concerning FF7R2, considering, at last I heard, was scheduled for winter ‘23 release and why there’s been little news coverage I really really hope they don’t try to finalize the story within the second installment .. 7R was amazing!! Absolutely! And seeing how they handled Yuffie in her DLC gave me great excitement for characters like CID and Vincent! That and new materia combinations and summons, these ‘refreshed’ entries of FF7 can really put SE back on the map again, that and 16 ofc Here’s hoping for some official news soon, that’ll hopefully provide some insight on whether delays might be in order etc.. either way, 2023 def a hellofa time to be a FF fan

"Remake" almost single-handedly reinvigorated my interest in gaming. I'm not particularly a fan of the more recent FF games (XIII was ok but I didn't love it) and I've not loved one since X. Wider that, gaming in general has kind of faded away for me. I always loved VII (although VIII was my favourite) so I wanted to see what they did with "Remake". I loved it. I couldn't stop thinking about where it would go in Part 2. I got a PS5, almost entirely to play Intermission/Integrade and later Rebirth. I appreciate that the ending of "Remake" is divisive, but it worked for me, and I arguably adore "Remake" even more than the OG. I can't wait for Rebirth!

Play the original FF7 to experience the original story. Don’t complain about the polygon graphics, you should play for the story. The end of the first part is a gut punch, and makes you want to quit the game entirely. Then you realize the game has two more parts to it and want to finish it. If you finish the game you might be kind of disappointed on how the remake is not really a remake, but more of a reimagining.

I have a feeling we'll see something about Rebirth after XVI releases. Square tends to focus their marketing on one project at a time lately, and all of that energy is being spent with XVI (given Sony's own State of Play regarding the game). We'll likely see another State of Play just focused on Rebirth the closer THAT title gets closer to release.

Agreed. They don't want to distract us from FF16. They are going to wait until at least 3 or 4 months after release then start giving us more information. I think that they expect FF16 to be the big one, what they expected when they released FF13. So they will be aiming for RPG of the year, perhaps even a strong GOTY contender. When it gets to the awards show in December they will release the next trailer for FF7-2.

Ngl I expect 2 sephiroths. Og Sephardic, who is the one we see in remake and the sephiroth from remakes world who we haven't seen yet. The seph we see is from the life stream and reconstituted himself through the memories of others. Not the same as the sephiroth who is somewhere in the world

In regards to shifting around events or locations, i think it makes a lot of sense. There's an opportunity to make the keystone quest a bit more than a challenge from Dio whereby you lose it immediately and then regain it at the entrance of the Temple. There's also an opportunity to overhaul all of Cait Sith's reason for joining (OG he just forces his way into your party) and his subsequent betrayal and quick pseudo sacrifice could all be re-worked to make more sense. All of that always felt sloppy to me and too contrived. Cait sith 2? C'mon... I also thought that Rufus needing the Tiny Bronco never made sense. He has a lot of resources with air and sea travel. So it will be intersting to see if they re work that plot line as well. Then there's how theyre gonna intersperse whatever is going on with zack. Who knows what locations we see first because of that. Then theres the flashback which could very well be told in pieces as you get closer to nibelheim. Im excited to see how it all goes down.

I'm not sure about having Sephiroth as a playable character. It would be cool as a power fantasy move and… it may be weird but I have to admit that I'd love playing as a left handed character for once. Left handed Link misses me… However, as already stated, it would somehow cheapen his presence. That's not an easy question for me.

I get a little depressed thinking about all three parts being out because I'll very likely be in my 40s by then lol. I can't help but continue to feel as if this insanely long 3 part deal with such long intervals between releases was necessary and not a great plan that doesn't really do much for the game.

In a way that really doesn’t matter because number one when it came to going to specific places you had a choice depending on where you needed to go if you needed the car or a jeep I think that was you didn’t exactly have to go to a specific place so that’s OK

I'm really imterested in how they'll downgrade the Party after Part 1. You cant Start the game with having thundaga and summons. Would be clever to put yuffie stealing the partys materia right in the beginning to make this downgrade feel logical. I am so hyped for rebirth, but i think we wont get any Information before the Release of 16 (which i am super hyped for either) and release in next Winter i think will more be in february/march 2024

I think that Rebirth won't even launch later this year. I think it could release between January 1st and April 1st of 2024. Given that "Available next Winter" is vauge enough that it could mean the final two months of this year or the first 3 of next year.

I think we will hear about in june for sony's likely state of play. I don't think sephiroth will be playable, and he will probably be similar to how Yuffie's companion was. As for Vincent and Cid, well, it's going to depend on length. The entire reason we didn't get XIII was because he appeared in the last couple chapters. If we are moving the events of things around I'd say it's probably likely we'll hit Nibelheim and Rocket Town much sooner than expected so we can scoop up those characters "sooner than later" or maybe, they reimagined how we encounter and when, but who is to say for sure. But based off those elements I think we will likely have our "entire party" within the first 15 hours of the game assuming they're both playable and can't be "missable" anymore.

Well this didn’t age well since E3 was just announced as cancelled. Which leaves us with summer games fest, which will be happening just over 2 weeks after the release of 16. However, state of plays and other standalone presentations are considered part of the summer game fest so my money is on either a state of play or a square Enix presents almost immediately after 16 launches.

Sephiroth will make a B-Team with the characters screwed by the original timeline like Zack, Vincent and Cid. Then they will clash with Cloud's team on wether they should try to change their fate or keep it the way it was. You know, like the fanbase of FFVII

To be honest Remake most likely would’ve sold more, but due to Covid, copies were extremely hard to find for a long time! I’d be willing to bet that they would’ve sold over 5 million within the first 3 days.

Since FFVII1 came out in Spring 2020, and FFVII2 will be in Winter 2023, then maybe FFVII3 will be out sometime in either 2025, 2026, or 2027. We never know. Delays happens to make things perfect and flawless w/out any rushing at all. It's all we have to deal with
