@@royaltyallen1162 it's literally just a new skin. All of the animations and everything are exactly the same as the PSP version. It's built off the skeleton of the original. It isn't updated or changed in a single way other than better graphics and new voice actors. Even the bad mouth movements and everything are EXACTLY the same as they were before.

@@gnarcky6ix6 actually some animations here and there were changed and the gameplay was tweaked a bit to be more in line with the remake, so its not 100% true that they only touched the graphics and voice actors and that's it, but yeah in general the game is mostly the same as the PSP version

The nice detail from Cloud's memory is that Tifa, never, at any moment mention the word "Cloud" even when they first meet. I wonder why is that? 🤔

That's a mixed memory.He was playing as Zack in most of the part and the reason why Zack called her 'Tifa' was he heard what Tifa's father said. Cloud couldn't notice these kind of details unfortunately like he convinced himself that he is a REAL soilder.I guess that's the reason.Of course Tifa in Kalm was confused but she kept everything in heart waiting for the real Cloud back.

The scene at 2:00 is interesting because I think it's the only thing in the Rebirth flashback that comes directly from Crisis Core. There's no scene like this in the original FF7, but everything else in the flashback comes from the original, so I thought it was interesting that they did adapt something from Crisis Core when they intentionally left most of it out.

Why would Rebirth stick to the version of events from a spinoff instead of the game it's a remake of? Crisis Core's version was really bad for most part. Rebirth kept some nods to it(Like talking to Sephiroth by the hotel window) but mostly threw it in the trash where it belongs.

I have watched the cutscenes way back when, and would've hated if they somehow shoehorned in a character like Genesis in an attempt to keep it closer to Crisis Core.

When Cloud tells that story he literally believes he WAS Zach in that story. It's part of his core identity. Tifa absolutely knows something is wrong and kind of tries to probe him about it but she's also afraid he's going to have a mental breakdown, plus she is also confused HOW he knows exactly what happened (not sure why she didn't figure Cloud was the Shinra grunt but it's possible she didn't really think about him much after the trip up the mountain). Back then Cloud actively DID avoid showing his face or talking to Tifa because he was embarrassed since he promised to be a SOLIDER. But at the point when he's telling the story he has already taken Zach's place in his memories.

That'd explain things, especially after the constant weird visions and headaches Cloud had during their time together. If I remember correctly, it was due to trauma that Cloud basically suffers with Nibelheim Incident, mako poisoning and Zack's death that Cloud ends up taking his memories of Zack and mixing it with his own, causing him to a create a new identity. He ended up suffering from dissociative identity disorder I believe. In Cloud's memories, he is Zack during these events basically.

Its a refreshing look on the same scene but I wish they would be more consistent with the details. The sample pods. Reactor entrance. Sephiroth's belt or lack of. The shinra basement, Shinra manor. Lighting. Will this be explained in the divergence of the timeline to fix this?

Jenova Cells possess the ability to read memories and mimicry. Cloud's Jenova Cells read Zack's memories. Cloud's Jenova's Cells also read Tifa's memories of Cloud when they meet in Midgar which leads to the false SOLDIER Persona (Cloud's mind was really broken at this point).

While the graphics are better, that's only one aspect. The character animations, the dialogue, voice acting, music, camera angles; all of it adds up in Rebirth to put it far above that Crisis Core was able to do as a PSP spin-off.

Not that Square cares much, they re-released both Crisis Core and Advent Children in the middle of the Remake project lol, but yes, you were spoiled on many plot points for FF7 and the Remakes by playing crisis core in the middle, ideally you weren't supposed to know so obviously that Cloud's story didn't add up, also Cloud doesn't believe he's Zack, since his memory is so fractured, he's just behaving how he believes a Soldier should, becasue he genuinely think he is one, he's mixing the information he knows from his time as a grunt plus what he learned from Zack. On the plus side I guess you have more time invested with Zack.

I find it so... odd that they released a faithful remake/remaster of Crisis Core in between Remake and Rebirth. Seeing the old Midgar and Nibelheim level layouts and scenarios again while the remake trilogy basically started from scratch, rewriting every line of dialog and having all the areas redesigned from scratch where they are unrecognizable... No not yet. in the original FF 7 game cloud remembers the events in his hometown differently than what actually happened and this demo is replicating that scenario pretty well in my opinion

When Cloud got experimented on, his mind shattered. and he went into a coma. His Jenova Cells read Zack's memories and also picked up his techniques (Jenova has the power of mimicry). When Cloud arrives in Midgar after Zack's Death, Tifa finds him. His Jenova Cells read Tifa's memories of Cloud which leads to the false SOLDIER persona Cloud has early in FFVII. Many times in the original FFVII, Cloud will get headaches from his true self trying to talk him, and things not aligning with the fake memories he has. There's also the fact that Tifa wasn't aware Cloud was in Nibelheim (he hid his face out of Shame of never becoming SOLDIER), and is surprised Cloud knows the events that took place here except Zack isn't mentioned. Tifa is worried about telling Cloud the truth because she thinks it will damage his mind.

Crisis Core was the biggest piece shit I've ever play, there's barely any story, the side quests sucked, the Simulated Missions are some of the most mundane gameplay ever. I couldn't 100% that shit I would never played it again.
