A buddy of mine and I found a "glitch/bug" while messing around once... Did you know, if you unlock Blitz Ace before the fight with Sin on the first boat and use it on Sin, the camera angles are not there and you can watch Tidus warp on screen! This is also in the HD re master version as well. This appears to have been missed by the dev team. This was a very hilarious thing to do. Try it, you may get a good laugh!

The change of “Thank you” to “I love you” I think is a culturally appropriate change. In Japanese, people generally would not voice out their love explicitly most of the time. So this “thank you” has all this emotional nuance which thank you in English does not have.

Great facts! Some other fun facts people may not know (Spoiler alert!): • Sin literally eats Dream Zanarkand at the beginning of the game to transport Tidus in Spira (Auron and Jecht had planned this in advance). That's why you "swim" in Zanarkand inside Sin at the beginning and end of the game. • The little boy who tells Tidus not to cry at the beginning is Bahamut's fayth (Notice the wheel on his back). • Final Fantasy X is the first Final Fantasy game to feature an all Asian cast. • Final Fantasy X is Final Fantasy VII's prequel, and this is canon, from Kazushige Nojima himself. Remember Shinra in FFX-2? The company was named after him. The whole concentrated pyreflies turning into spheres phenomenon makes sense as Mako energy if you think about it (materia). • At the good ending of FFX-2, Tidus is brought back to existence, but nowhere is it explained who summoned him back. The fayth say that they brought him back for Yuna since she saved the fayth twice (once from Yu Yevon and once from Shuyin). But the fayth can't summon anything by themselves. They are used by powerful summoners to dream something up. • Somewhere between the events of the good ending and the perfect ending of FFX-2, Yuna and Tidus are stranded on an island (a summoned island) and Tidus "dies" for real (FFX-2.5 book). Now, as we know after the events of FFX's ending, Tidus was never ''real''. If he was, he wouldn't have disappeared at the end of the game. Tidus was probably what the fayth's recollection of Shuyin was (an actual person) when they dreamed Zanarkand up. At any rate, he dies from a blitzball shaped bomb, and Yuna literally brings him back from the farplane, which creates a whole slew of problems. Yuna acts distant to Tidus in the audio drama because if Tidus remembers his memories with her, he will disappear (he will *really* disappear 😂). Now this last point is not in any way canon, it's just a thought I had about the main characters' names. What if Yuna and Tidus are never meant to be together? In the Okinawan language, Yuuna means night, and Tiida means sun, both can never be together. Think about it, after all they've been through, two games and even after all that they STILL can't seem to catch a break. We'll have to wait until FFX-3 to see the ending of their story, if they ever make that game. I'm personally content with the ending of FFX-2: Last Mission, I think it leaves things up to the player's imagination, just like FFX's ending did. They are both amazing endings.

Personally I think the "Arigatou" is much more powerful than the "I love you". By the time that scene comes about we have spent X hours witnessing them grow from strangers, to friends, to lovers. We have seen the weight Yuna has to bear, knowing that she will die, and Tidus's crushing realization that all his "I will take you to Zanarkand" was like pouring salt into an open wound, and yet Yuna loved him for that unbridled optimism. And even more once he stubbornly refused to give up on her; he changed the world for her. There is no need to tell us that she loves him. We know. We have witnessed it. Thanking him, for all that he's done for her (or they for each other), what they have been through, endured, persevered, achieved..that transcends "I love you". Thanking someone for the love and commitment they bore you is infinitely stronger and a better indicator of character growth. It shows maturity and a deeply rooted affection that goes beyond mere romance. It symbolizes love more than those three words ever could.

09:47 The change from "Thank you" to "I love you" was heavily debated between the English translator/writer & the original Japanese writer. English writer wanted it changed to "I love you" as he felt it made more sense both for the story & Western release. However, the Japanese writer didn't want it changed because Japanese people do not openly voice their love to each other/public. Source - Edge Magazine interview.

( This might have been mentioned already, but... ) Regarding number three, I think it's wrong to leap to the conclusion that Yojimbo's dog is called 'komainu'. Komainu are a type of statue off of which the dog is modeled. Personally I lean towards him being a komainu named Daigoro. Calling him komainu would be the same as saying his name is dog, if the files for his model were named 'dog'.
@Ben-fx9kx8 жыл бұрын
Yeah but Daigoru could just be the attack name
@luckymouse19888 жыл бұрын
Indeed, that is also a possibility. Here is why I lean towards him being called Daigoro, though; Looking at Yojimbo's attacks, we see that all of his attacks are named after the weapons he uses to perform them: *Kozuka*, name of the small knives he throws; *Wakizashi*, name of the sword he uses to attack; *Zanmato*, 'demon-cutter sword', the sword he cuts the enemy with; *Daigoro*, following the precedent of the three other attacks, you could conclude that Daigoro is name of the dog he uses to attack with. Going about it from a different angle; In Final Fantasy X-2 Yuna is accompanied by a little dog, that resembles Yojimbo's, when you equip the Trainer Dressphere. If you meet certain criteria throughout your playthrough then you will gain the ability to rename the pets that come with the Dressphere by talking to Barkeep. Doing this teaches us that Yuna's dog is called Kogoro, Rikku's monkey is called Ghiki and that Paine's pheasant is called Flurry. In Japanese, the prefixes *ko* and *dai* are opposites, *ko* meaning small and *dai* meaning big. Not only do their appearances look similar, their names can be seen as a play of words, as a set even.
@NoLiveking878 жыл бұрын

I think the reason for the change in Yuna's last line to Tidas, " I love you" vs " Thank you" between the English and Japanese version is because we express our love verbally while the Japanese express love physically with gestures and such
@Matuiss29 жыл бұрын
I actually prefer Yuna saying "thank you" instead of "i love you", coz Tidus obviously already knew Yunas feelings by that time, she even admited that in the "farewell sphere" that she recorded in the end of Mihen road. So for me thank you seems better, coz she make him know how important he was to Spiras eternal calm and to her happiness.
@jesussalvatierra30109 жыл бұрын
+Matuiss2 It´s a cultural modification, since in Japan Love is only use towards parents and not partners. :)
@amythelime8 жыл бұрын
+Jesus Salvatierra You're correct in thinking that it is a cultural modification, but it is not true that love is used as a word solely to express feelings towards family members. This is untrue, but Japan does have a hard time accepting young people to use the word 'love.'
@jessicawarren34898 жыл бұрын
+Amy Ki Also, Japan has varying levels of saying, "I love you" to someone. You can say I love you to a friend (suki) or you can say I love you to a really close friend or family member (daisuki) (suki and daisuki are generally used for objects, though). For those you're in a serious relationship with (like a boyfriend or girlfriend you've been with for two years and going strong), you usually say, "Aishiteru." With those you're married to and see the two of you growing old and dying together, that saying is upgraded to "Koishiteru." Saying "Arigatou..." in a relationship (such as if you're breaking up or they're dying) would be like saying, "Thank you for spending your time with me." It's a very mild way of saying "I love you" without saying it. So! Arigatou - Thank you for spending time with me [intimately] Suki - I like you. Daisuki - I really like you. Aishiteru - You are my love. Koishiteru - You a truly my love (deeper meaning than aishiteru).

This was an absolute joy to watch by the way. Number 14 in particular was quite interesting. I'd most certainly enjoy seeing another video like this about FFX. @Dansg089 жыл бұрын
+KH-mixerX I may do, but this video took an age to make, a lot of editing, fact checking and extra recording. Metal Gear is quite popular for its Easter Eggs/Lore etc so I would think it's pretty saturated. I'll see how this video does, despite my FFX influence if it fails to get any real views I probably won't continue. I could have made 10 walkthrough episodes in the time it took me to make this :) But I wanted something a little different with greater sharing potential to see if it could get some views. Bonus fact: Yuna saying "thank you" instead of "I love you" in the Japanese version isn't as different as one initially thinks. She didn't say "I love you" because that's not how Japanese people express their emotions; think it like shouting out "I AM ANGRY!" or sobbing while saying "I'm so sad". It just seems silly. It was a very necessary change for the english version, but it would've just been kinda weird if Yuna had said "I love you" in the original Japanese.

Both make the same amount of sense to me. I thought it was fairly obvious that Yuna and Tidus loved each other when you look at the scenes all throughout the game (especially when they kissed). “Thank you” also shows gratitude while saying “I love you” doesn’t necessarily do the same

This has been my all time, number one favorite game since its release and I still play it. There are only two things that I absolutely HATE: the Blitzball match against the Goers ( It’s not that it is hard. It’s having to restart and go through several cut scenes and dialogue in case I lose) and the Chocobo Catcher race against the trainer to receive Tidus’ Sun Sigil. That “mini game” was created by the Devil himself.
@Jkilla1864 жыл бұрын
The chocobo race is nothing. Now, the patience needed to attain the Venus sigil 🤐🤬... The comparison isn’t even close

@Jkilla1862 жыл бұрын
@@biscobisco1882 I don't think most people are able to do the lighting dodger in 4 or less attempts. The focus and composure to dodge 200... in a row! I've replayed this game many times and I think I only managed to ever do it twice, it frustrates me too much and I get impatient. Whereas the chocobo race is so easy to me Tidus' Sigil is always the first Sigil I get.
@biscobisco18822 жыл бұрын
@@Jkilla186 It's really not that hard - it's the same timing every single time if you use the crater trick and you can quite literally pause the game if you feel your focus waning, so it doesn't even require that much concentration.
@Jkilla1862 жыл бұрын
@@biscobisco1882 pausing can also distract and throw off the rhythm though. I think the main difference for me is 1 mini game is over in just a couple of minutes, not a lot of concentration needed vs 1 mini game that is more time consuming and more concentration or attention is needed. The 2 are not even close in my opinion. Lightning dodger is way more annoying. But I get it, everybody's different.

I always figured Blitz Ace was the most damaging move, but I suppose you mean "most damaging" in terms of normal attacks. I augment that overdrive with his powered up ultimate weapon (because it breaks the damage limit) add Rikku's overdrive (Mix 2 Door of Tomorrow) to make a trio of 9999 spell to completely max out damage and I can kill anything with just one BlitzAce. Even Bosses.

If you ask me, FFXII did a good job,even if the pace was slower than most were okay with. It actually had time to build up more than just a few characters (we never see Aaron or Kimari grow, while Lulu and Riku grow just ever-so-slightly, with the main focus on Wakka's growth over racism and blind followership, Yuna's willingness to take life into her own hands, and Tidus's... Understanding of Spots, and shattering that understanding for everyone else by ripping out what is essentially both Catholicism and Christianity all in one? It's a bit blurry, but at least Fran, Bash, Vaan, Penelo, and the rest of the cast from 12 had their own parts where they grew, although it has been too long since I played it to mention the instances directly, much more akin to 7 and 8 than 10. Having said all that, my favorites are 10 & 8 tied for first, 12, then 7. Idk why, but I feel like 7 was over-hyped for me by friends before I had played it for myself, taking away from the impact of it, I'm sure. Also, WHY CANT I USE PHOENIX DOWN ON ARETH?!?!?! D:

Very nice video. One thing though, and I'm sure someone else must have said it, and I can't remember the exact line of dialogue, but Rikku actually says that the airship is the one they found at the beginning of the game. I think it's before battling Evrae, possibly earlier, but definitely after Cis takes off. Appearance wise, I thought it was meant to be obvious for anyone playing through a second time also.

It isn't the most incredibly difficult to find piece of information, but I wanted to throw that one in there off the back of a lot of comments I've got over the years of people who were genuinely surprised when they realised it was the same airship. I tried to keep a range in there from stuff even less experienced players may know to the much more in-depth that you would need multiple playthroughs or extra research for.

Something else about her thank you/I love you at the end of game - when speaking to someone in Japanese, there is a difference in formal and informal. You'd say thank you to a sibling or parent in a somewhat different way (I believe the suffix of the word changes, I could be wrong) than you would to a store clerk you just met. Her "thank you" at the end of the game could've reflected a more personal/informal tone. Instead of saying thank you to a guardian (formal), she was saying thank you to a close friend, one she obviously had feelings for (informal).

Ad. 7 - I'm pretty sure the guns count as second opponents to make the shading work like it does. When your characters are affected by Zombie status, both them and their weapons cycle through green coloration. For the monks, their weapons don't do that. You can even see it in this exact clip, with Yuna's staff when she is zombified. Plus, the weapons seem to immediately disappear when the monks are killed.

The Japanese word Yuna says which we translate as "Thank You" means more than what we think when we say "Thank You" in context, translating it to "I love you" matched the mouth movements of the character and was closer to how personal and deep the Japanese was meant to be. The feeling I get, which is not to say an accurate translation as I don't speak Japanese, would be "Thank you, for the life you lived that tells such a wonderful story that I have had the pleasure to take part in which will be honored and remembered the rest of my life." Again, not a translation of the Japanese as much as what it feels like based on the video I saw about why she says what may be a literal translation of "Thank you" but meant so much more.
@constantanxietyattacks68788 жыл бұрын
In Japanese, Yuna says "Arigato" which does mean "Thank you". However, arigato has the same mouth flaps as the word "Aishiteru" which means "I love you", which could leave a bit of a double meaning, though, Japanese people rarely say aishiteru, due to how incredibly strong and intimate it is. (In fact, even married couples are generally hesitant to say it). Also, in the context that it's used, "Thank you" is basically equivalent to saying "I love you".
