ffxi has one of if not the best pet class implementation in any rpg game to date. They really could mimick it and make an offline game entirely based around summoner or bst. It would a modern game say on Unreal eng 5 with ffxi like pet system would be amazing.

i just finished my Aymur, and it is night and day for BST. your TP Gen is through the roof, and your pet is almost always at 3k TP at any given time. and primal hits really damn hard if you have full nyame.

@@SplitFinn its my second, terpsichore was my first, but it left a bad taste in my mouth for how poorly it performs in anything but low to solo content. i almost didnt sink the time into aymur, but it was absolutely worth it. it hits like a dumptruck with primal rend, and the TP is just unreal.

I was a BST player off and on for so long. it is SO much different now with how the jug interactions have climbed. im from an era where you'd swap between depending. this is such an impressive guide, and I LOVE your guides in general. your so impressive at this! I hope to see more from you in the future, currently wondering your thoughts on summoner, but I will be patient to see what comes next.

Very comprehensive. I would add that "Stay" can be used strategically to help allow you and any allies to zone if a battle is going badly.

As an old school BST who hasn't played in years this was a great summation of where the job is now, and I have to say I'm truly disappointed that they've basically abandoned the Charming aspect of the job. I also think SE wasted a fantastic opportunity to make a BST a legit tanking class back when 6 man grouping in exp camps was still a thing. I've often thought of coming back just to give the old school 1-75 journey one more go, but that time has probably passed for me. I did it several times both solo and duo and it was one of the best memories I have of the game.

Excellent guide!! However there is 2 things I would like to add to it. 1)Sultry Patrice can easily be used to pull in places like dynamis and odyssey farming runs; as long as what you are pulling is not casting magic on it. Allowing you to add a heavy dps in the tank slot. 2)Rhyming Shizuna's sheep song can be used to sleep in dynamis(wave 1 and 2) and odyssey if your group does not have a dedicated sleeping job like brd/rdm/blm or if your sleepers are weak/dead.

just a quick note there is a 100 job points gift for BST which reduce ready/sic recast for another 5 secs, so the total cap on merits/gift/equip is -20 secs not 15. nice video as always, I think odyssey is where BST shines the most even if we still lacking on the dps department(SE need fix the axe weapon skills so we stop relying on the ambu axe ) they can boosts the dmg/survavility of the whole group.

Hey Ruau, not sure if you know this but figured I would mention; if you put a 0:00 timestamp in your description before all the others there will be visible timestamps on the actual play bar that progresses while the video plays. I wanted to use the timestamps but constantly referring to the description can become annoying lol.

Familiar was pretty special for me - granted it was the one and only time. I was farming for my subligar so I can get that awesome Gaudy Harness…. running around level capped Sacarium at 40 trying to solo IT Fomor was super scary… decided why the heck not and pop charm on an IT spider and it actually worked… popped Familiar, “sic” it on a bst fomor and got it on the first drop. BST was my 3rd job to 75 and my second favorite.

on the subject of fantod, couldn't it be possible to macro Fantod then using the Heel command to stop attacking? I've used this trick way back when using Faithful Falcorr in dynamis

wow, bst have come a long way, it's really great to see its capabilities and utilities expanded and matured to such a degree, when the guide first started I was a little worried I wouldn't like the kinds or degree of the changes but I think the devs did a good job in how they designed bst's updated identity by leaving behind some things and leaning into and expanding other core unique aspects of the job, really surprising they were willing to change/expand it to such a degree in the first place -- kudos on the video!

Man this was Lovely to Watch. While WHM was always my Main Love in 11 I eventually got into BST when I wanted to do Solo Content and because our Shell had another Dedicated WHM that was willing to trade Duties with me on occasion so that I could go Experience things. Though that was pre range Nerf, as I haven't played since the Middle of the Adoulin Era. Still All the knowledge i needed for pet placement and Monster Correlation is why its the Reason I still consider coming back here and there. Well that, and to use Guttler once again. I do Miss that Murderous Axe...

Just wanted to point out - using a Pet Food biscuit will only remove a certain set of ailments, that's true. However, using the item Pet Roborant will remove any ailment that the WHM spell Erase will remove. It's annoying to have to use the same ability twice with different items, but IMHO it can't be ignored if we're considering all options.

Hey Rua, it would be awesome if you could do a quick overview of your macro set up for BST. I assume you have a BST book, but I assume you don't have multiple books for BST since you have so many high lvl jobs. So, do you have one BST book and one macro page for each of your commonly used pets? Say a Fluffly page where most macros are the same just changed for each pet TP. Fluffly page, and Arthur page, or do you just utilize the /bstpet # mechanic and have it all in one or a few macros?

What I found works for me is using a macro for “Jugs” which switches to a set of all of my most used jugs to equip them, then have “Call Beast” and “Beastial Loyalty” at the end filling the 0 slot, within both of those macros is a command to return to my main BST set for JA and WS. So jug to select pet, call bst or beastial loyalty to get pet out and return to main set

Also I have a BeastReady macro that brings me to a set that has ready move 1-6, each one occupying a ready move. Within the BeastReady macro i have /bstpet which will state their ready moves and charge cost, you have to have a pet out for /bstpet to work :)
