Final Fantasy XII The Zodiac Age | ULTIMA | Optional Espers Guide

Ultima is located in the Great Crystal. Specifically at the top of this place. Unfortunately, this area has not a detailed map or a minimap. So, for this reason, I will start explaning the Great Crystal and the exploring system that I will use for this guide.
About the Great Crystal
This place is located in the deepest reaches of the Giruvegan. First off, each area of the Great Crystal has a specific name. You can find this name at the upper part of the screen. The big areas are connected through "Special Panels" called Way Stones. These Way Stones use Roman numerals to identify itself. Also, you will find "Zodiac Gates". These gates are green and block some of the paths between areas. In order to open these gates, you have to find a switch. Each Zodiac Gate has its respective switch. Once you activate a switch, a countdown timer will appear on the screen. When this happens, you have to go back to the Zodiac Gate and examine it.
Exploring the Great Crystal
As you should know now, there are 3 things that you can use as "landmarks" in order not to get lost in the Great Crystal. You have the name of each area at the upper part of the screen, Way Stones and the Zodiac Gates with its respective switch. So, this guide will be splitted into 4 parts. Each part will be like a "walkthrough". At the beginning, I will do a short briefing about what you have to do and where you have to go in each area. After that, I will show you the gameplay clip. The idea is that you know your exact location everytime!
First Area - From Way Stone VIII (8) to Way Stone IX (9)
The Starting Point is always Way Stone VIII (8). In this area, you have to activate Scorpion Switch in order to open Scorpion Zodiac Gate. This will lead you to Way Stone IX (9).
Second Area - From Way Stone X (10) to Way Stone XI (11)
From Way Stone X (10), you have to go to Sagitarius Switch. It's the only switch in this area. As you see, there are 2 Sagitarius Gates, so you have to open the gate number 1. This will lead you to Way Stone XI (11).
Third Area - From Way Stone XIII (13) to Way Stone XV (15)
From Way Stone XIII (13), you have to go to Geminis Switch. There are 2 Geminis Gates here, so open the gate number 2 only. This will lead you to Way Stone XV (15).
Fourth Area - From Way Stone XVI (16) to Way Stone XVII (17)
It's the hardest area to explain, so pay attetion to the order of the gates that you have to open. From Way Stone XVI (16), you have to go to Libra Switch, you can open the gate number 1 or number 2, but I recommend you to open gate number 1. From this gate, you have to activate Capricorn Switch and go back to Way Stone XVI (16). From there, open Capricorn Gate number 1 and activate Virgo Switch. From Virgo switch, you have to go back and open Virgo gate number 1 or number 2. This will lead you to Way Stone XVII (17).
And finally, in the last area. From Way Stone XVIII (18), you will find a save crystal. From this area, you can find Ultima!

How to make a dungueon: copy paste a labrynthic maze and make it very long. Seriously this section is god awful. How was anyone suposed to do this without a guide back in 2007? Thanks for the help, man.

Oh god its horrible. I remember playing it when I was at middle school. It took me around half a day without eating because of frustration. Back then, I no avail to internet guides to help me. I got trapped, I'm underlevel and undergeared, damn that was hell.

I completed this last night. My luck was really bad though because once I defeated it my game crashed, so I had to restart, Lmao. I did it with Penelo as a White Mage/Machinist, Basch as a Knight/Bushi, and Fran as an Archer/Red BattleMage. Baschs high strength with ultima blade attached to make him even stronger and Frans dark magic was epic 🙂

I didn't have any problems getting TO Ultima, there are plenty of guides on how to get there, my problem was getting back OUT. I finally ended my 150+hr run on the PS2 because I was so frustrated, and at the thought I would have to come back here to Omega.

Instead of white masks you could just use sage's ring to this. You spend less mp then. I knowcyou have to cast bubble butvhave that on Gambit: Self. Edit: Oh sage's ring appeared in video

could you please do a guide to the Cartographer trophy? Istg I'm going crazy because of it D: The trophy description is really vague, each source states something different. I purchased every single map and found every single urn, also I walked everywhere in every single zone, in fact there are no gray spots on the maps. I seriously don't know what I'm missing, I checked the maps on the official guide and I'm not missing anything so I don't get what's wrong with this trophy. Could it be a bug perhaps? o.o

That trophy is linked to the Bestiary trophy because some optional bosses have its own secret place. Also, check out the ctities, some cities have secret places too like archades. But I will try to make that video soon.
