Final Fantasy 12 Great Crystal Path to Ultima
The Great Crystal is a very confusing area due to the lack of any map system. Follow my step by step instructions in order to reach Ultima. In the next episode I will be explaining how to defeat the Esper itself.
Final Fantasy 12 was first released way back in 2006 on the PS2. At the time, it was considered somewhat controversial by many Final Fantasy fans due to its departure from traditional FF gameplay. However, it is now looked back on fondly and many would consider Final Fantasy XII to be the best entry in the franchise. In 2007 the International Zodiac edition was released (in Japan only), and this version of the game included a more traditional job-based system and a new battle areana. For this remastered release, these additional changes are being brought to us fans in the West for the first time ever - along with high resolution textures and remastered soundtrack!

I remember playing The Great Crystal on the original XII without a guide. Took me forever to get through it and I didn't even get Ultima or any other special items, just simply did my best to grind through it and continue the game.

You have to FLEE past all enemies from the Sagittarius gate Stone to Sagittarius Gate 1 as it is timed! Thank You! So many walkthroughs leave this very important fact out. You rule!

This whole labyrinth was designed to sell more official guide books imo, the licensed version made this dungeon so much easier as you could just rotate the physical map as you went

Ff12 is a lot like final fantasy 2. Ff2 had a TON of branching paths that let to dead ends and insane encounter rates. You would probably run into 20 fights on a single floor in later dungeons. However TZA has only really kept the side content tideous. The main story content is reaallly easy in this game. Still the new versions are great with the same turbo mechanics most of the old FFs have nowadays. It wasn’t a bad FF imo, just not as good as the first one which even today is a great game.

The things I hated about the Great Crystal are the following: 1: Useless map! 2: Certain Enemies (Mom Bombs, Ose, Oversouls (Goddamn Annul ability screwed me over so many times!) and Naturally Ultima herself) 3: The confusing gate stone system!

luckily Ultima wasn't too hard of a battle, next on list is getting a few Gendarmes, this place is really confusing though, I kept making wrong turns despite the walkthrough, but got there in end by backtracking

Yes, I think it's the fact every area looks exactly like the one before - very bland visually - and ...maybe I shouldn't say this cause now everyone will notice it...but it seems like when you run in the Great Crystal, your footsteps make these annoying boop-beep-boop kind of noises as you step on the force tiles...arggh!

I recommend for this battle: Level 73 for all the main members. Ribbons (at least 2). White masks. Buffs like shield and bubble. Things like telekinesis and gil toss. And quickenings for everybody. I did this and i could beat Ultima, i had a bit of struggles but i could win, good luck.

If you are having trough activating those plasma gates while enemies are attacking you, just turn you gambit off your party leader and let your other party members do the work while you activate the gates. Assuming your party is high enough level that is.

There is an enemy back by ice esper that summons unlimited zombie enemies. If you apply your gambits correctly you can literally leave the game on overnight and wake up with all three characters 20 or more levels higher. Epic time saver.

You should be able to touch after you finish the storyline in that area, you get a sword and then you can revisit the crystal which should allow you to touch the stone. A month late tho lol
