That third leg of the dungeon, on the rooftops, i just had a feeling in my stomach thinking about Vivi and Puck. This whole expansion is an echo of 9's themes, of comraderie and found family. And of living a life worth living, and that being different for every person.

The case with dawntrail i feel like it perfectly mixes the themes of both ffix and ffx - the theme of a journey and learning of the cultire is greatly reminiscent of that of ffx's story, and the themes of newfound family and that of finding meaning (echoed through Galool Ja's + Otis and Galool Ja's + Zalool Ja's relationships) adds an even more personal twist to the story that is JUST PERFECT

I was crying tears of joy seeing this be the pennultimate level 100 dungeon. What a perfect way to end the story with a very nice callback to 9 in design and some themeing

​@@meitomiyazaki9848 the first half of the story is objectively poor in pacing and inconsistent in the quality of it's worldbuilding. Did we really need to collect SEVEN macguffins one at a time in a repetitive cycle? Furthermore how can they spend so much time worldbuilding without asking essential questions related to the cultures we meet like 'why do the pelupelu all wear identical pelican masks when there are no native pelicans and their culture revolves entirely around alpacas?' and 'why do the moblins still wear gas masks even though they aren't miners like their goblin cousins?' The moblin area in particular was awful because it was an idiot plot (a plot that can only happen if every character is suddenly acting stupid) where all of Wuk Lamat's bodyguards AND her brother AND his bodyguards let her go off alone into an ambush even though there had already been multiple attempts on her life. In comparison the Mamool Ja and Yok Tuy had pretty good worldbuilding, but it still took too long to deliver. A good point of comparison is WoW dragonflight. That expansion was praised for it's gameplay but criticized for having a bland story, yet even dragonflight does a better job of introducing a plethora of new tribes and establishing their culture efficiently than dawntrail. And speaking of warcraft, Dawntrail's story felt immensely like a WoW story, because it focused entirely on following around a brand new character in Wuk Lamat and both the player character and several other established characters were somewhat sidelined in comparison (especially Estinian, he was barely even in the xpac).

Sounds like it's based on "Fleeting Life" from Final Fantasy IX! It was there in plain sight with the launch trailer... no wonder something about it felt familiar. Also, 0:22 Final Fantasy IX "Battle 1" music starts
