i may have missed it in the video but i thought it should be noted that what is saved on a glam plate is separate from what is in the glam dresser. you can save something on to a plate or dye it on a plate and it will not dye it in the glam dresser and it is safe to remove that item from the dresser (probably shouldnt remove stuff you're using tho lol). this is important because you can store something already dyed to an expensive dye like jet black and then apply it to glam plates for no additional dye cost. you can even apply a different dye to it on a glam plate (ruby red, for example) and it will still be jet black in the dresser. this can save you gil and dye

I didn't go into detail on it. But this is very true. And very very handy if you are looking to use gear as a glam. But have to use the piece as well. You can have your cake and eat it.

As someone from pso2 it's kinda weird how complicated fashion is in ff14. There all you need to do is get the basewear, equip it and done.

I watched this and I still don’t understand.. :/ I have 2 retainers full of old gear. Back in the day I’d “save it” because one day I’d like to use it for glamour. But it just takes up so much space. I don’t understand how to store it in the glam dresser? I’m so lost.

@@KholLaC Have it in your inventory or armoury. Click on the glam dresser. And cycle down through the list. There's nothing really else to it

You can also buy glamour prisms for a small amount of gil from a vendor standing not far from Swyrgeim. I forget his name, but he shouldn't be hard to find. Edit: Turns out I was wrong; that guy sells other glam-related items, but not this one.

You can only buy glamour prisms for gil from the market board, otherwise you'll need buy them from the grand company, the wolf pier, or craft them yourself using clear prism

If you are using a glamour plate, you can consistently have the same appearance, if just using pieces by themselves, you'd have to reapply to each piece. But you can have a full appearance as you level

It's the glamour dresser it goes in, and you have to store it from the dresser, only event items and uniques go into the armoire chest

I can get some items in to the glamour dresser but nothing in the armoire. Nothing shows in the glamour plate and I cant link anything to a slot there. my goldsmith is level 21 so I meet the lvl 15 requirement there. Seems I'm missing something basic. say I bought the bunny ears from the Gold Saucer at level 20 and used them as a glamour for a level 20 helm. If at level 50 i get a better helm and want to switch to it, can I remove the glamour from the first one and still use the same bunny ears as a glam for the new one? or if something is used as a glamour once, it can't be used again?

Being on something doesn't matter at all. Slap it on anything and everything you want. There's no limit and lock out because of it

Thanks so much! This is very helpful as a new Xbox player. I've got so much gear from leveling already. What's your recommendation for what to put in the glamour dresser vs what to get rid of? Do you try on everything before deciding to get rid of it? I assume the best thing I can do is trade gear for GC seals but also not sure about that. My armoury chest is full though!

Trade gear for gc seals, and keep what you actually want, only you know what you wanna keep. That way you can empty your armoury a bit!

Okay so I must get the armor. And armor is gotten by dungeons? Or will I be able to make them via a recipe? I figure it will be make clearer the further I get into the game but 😅 been limited on time to play and don't know if I should just speed run the base game to get to cooler gear or if I can get the gear sooner rather than later? I've seen the story of base game via playthrough videos but they were gifted gear for jobs they had and had level boosted to make the 2nd play though faster and focus on the story mostly

I’m going for cute I’m a little guy black mage (which I call orbs because their heads are vaguely orb shaped) anyway I’m early game like very early game just beat the level 20 thalmatuge quest (I hate that the tank dying lead to defeat I could have killed the fiends by my self because they are just weaker versions of me) so anyway any armor suggestions

At the level 30 you'll get some blackmage style gear!

@@blackfrostfilms-dl8wo Exactly. Anything at the moment you could use or wear would be level 20 or less. So you'd not have much choice unless you buy a bunch of the lvl 1 fashion items from the Marketboard. Which are pricey.

@@DyingLegacy default equipment is good for now I just was mentioning level to vent my frustration about the quest I had to use very easy because the imps had too much hp for sleep (what the game tells you to do) to be a valid strategy

You can change away, that's why you make a glamour plate. it's easier to apply the glamour to yourself that way.

@demuysamuel They are all from the market board! Level 60 to 70 I think. It'd basically the healer set from the first alliance raid at level 60! Staff is also market board at level 60. Not near my PC to check the names.

For the weapon I am using the "Endless Expanse Crane" The hats the Yafaemi Hat." The chest is the "True linen Robe of Healing". For the gloves I am wearing the "True Griffen Gloves of Healing. And for the pants I am using "True linen Robe of Healing". And the boots are the "Slothskin boots of Healing". :)

Not a fan of the glamor system , I wish you could just apply to character so when you change gear you don't have to change everything. Id be more interested if I could look cool from my character creation to cosmetics strait out the gate.

I think if glamour worked the same as layered armour from Monster Hunter, it'd be a lot nicer to work with. I really hate the idea of having to apply the glam to specific items.

Layered armour would be nice, but I do also like the glamour plate system of it always applying when you swap gear sets or jobs. But it only working in cities and safe areas is a pain. I'm an on the fly kinda guy

No you can't, you can only apply glamour to items of the same level, or lower level glamour to higher level item.

It's not as involved as you think. In fact in the end, it's an automatic process that does everything for you when you switch jobs. Don't read too much into it, as I did the same and it took me ages to go and do it.

If they removed class restrictions, then the jobs themselves would lose all identity. Plate slots. Now that we need. Like now. How can a person function with only 20 slots!? That's not enough to include my crafters 😂

@@DyingLegacy Think about it though, thats where the weapons come in. Leave the weapons as they are so when you see someone with weapon out and ready, you know what class they are using. OR if they added current job icon next to their name. Reapers deserve robes, disciples of magic should be able to use more armors, and glamour dresser storage is damn near fixed for not having to store 3 pieces of the same item for dupes in multiple classes. and i heavily agree they need to allow for like 25 slots. honestly the more the merrier, this game has an almost unrivaled aesthetic for character expression and customization but SE keeps holding it back from greatness

@@killroy226 It's the engine restrictions, that they keep tweaking, eventually hopefully they do. I agree there needs to be more choice, my reaper needs a robe so badly! But they restricted themselves heavily. So hopefully they start opening things much more... Especially for my fisher xD He doesn't need to look like a cowboy!!
