Well if his other theories are correct... Caelum = black mages / time mages... if time is on repeat until the desired ending is achieved. Auburnbrie = Red mages / blue mages.. monster hunters blue mages are heavily tied to monsters. Fleuret = White mages / green mages.. green magic buffs and debuffs she kind of shows off her debuff at the end of the game..

I'm still wondering even if the theories aren't absolutely true. Why would they bother putting so much depth and detail into mythology, naming and all of the relations between characters but not actually make any of it obvious in the game its self. It's one thing to leave it for the player to find and another to absolutely hide it as well as you can so youtubers can find it and theorize 5 months later.

About the Sword of the Father, I'm fairly sure it's just because Ardyn could never get his hands on it. Ravus, after all, did protect it and never gave it to Ardyn. It was Regis' own sword and not an old King's. It's more a symbol of how Regis really was there to help his son through his hardships and how Ravus, in the end, really helped Noctis. It's the one sword-stab that allows Ravus to rest and opens the way for Noctis, Regis and Ardyn to end it all. Also, is it me or the key in the painting looks nothing like the real one?

I have a little theory/idea as to why Ardyn doesn't possess the Sword of the Father, and it links back to that same scene where Noctis deals the final blow. He says something like "Erase me from history once more?"(Can't recall the full line right now) which leads me to think that he's been killed multiple times by the Lucian kings of old, particularly the kings who wield the same 12 Royal Arms that Noctis receives during his journey, which happen to be the same ones Ardyn uses to fight you. Why? After being rejected by the Crystal and possibly being brought back to life(maybe) decades later due to his immortality, he's reborn with a new royal arm at his disposal assuming that the king who killed him last passed during Ardyn's time away. Maybe the Royal Arms are imbued with the light of the crystal upon each king's ascension, and it just so happens that the kings who banished Ardyn in the past were stronger than most of the other kings. Ardyn being in the crystal would mean he could possibly have obtained his own version of each Royal Arm, but corrupted them. Going now to his showdown with Noctis, because Ardyn hasn't been to the Crystal since his last temporary death, he hasn't gotten the chance to receive Regis' sword, the only one he doesn't have. Again, this is just a simple idea I came up with, with no real sources. I just thought it'd be interesting if that was the case.

I know this is really late but if Izunia is one of the twins, then who's the other twin? Since it's probably a Lucis Caelum who bedded Izunia which ultimately cause Izunia to give birth to Ardyn, it can't be someone from the Caelum household who's the other twin, that'd be downright incest.

I can see where you're coming from with this, but I do have doubts about Ardyn not being a full Lucis Caelum. The mother part did make sense though. But what if Auburnbrie was actually the daughter of Izunia? Making her Ardyn's niece? Say that Izunia had two children, a boy and a girl. One would ascend the throne while the other would find their own path? What if Auburnbrie became a hunter while her brother would rule the kingdom? And what if the path she chose was sealing the darkness her uncle had tried to banish? I have no doubt Izunia would have told stories about his brother, presumably making him into a monster which-if they are passed down through time-would make Aranea (as I saw you put how she could be one of them) more wary of Ardyn because his name is familiar. The stories could have made her want to get rid of the darkness for once and for all. If she was wed, the name of Lucis Caelum would have been changed to that of her husband. They never actually say if the Lucis Caelum line ever had more than one sibling, and given that twins happen more often if the parents had them would make this plausible. Also, ending note, mages seem to be more common in females. Take Ravus and Luna for example. Ravus has the strength and power from his Oracle blood, while Lunafreya seems to hold a type of Magic. If it were that Aubrunbrie was the daughter of Izunia, her magic count would have been significantly higher than that of her brother. That's just my take on things though. XD Love your theories and I can't wait to see more!

I still believe that ardyn is the son of Eos and the reason he knows about the solheim tech is because he was born before solheim is destoryed and worked as healer when the first outbreak of the demon plague. His father must had been a high ranking member in Solheim and falls in love with Eos and Eos gave birth twins. Hia father and the rest of the solheim got greedy and build the sunclock to take his mother (Eos) power and made ardyn hate him and which is why he never had the sword of the father..

Just a theory, but why can't Izunia be Ardyns father ? Imagine he was given the name Caelum as a child from the God's, never knew his father or mother, does the God's bidding for them but Ifrit tells him the truth of his past, so in memory of his father he assumes a new identity, his father's and casts aside his God given name, he then instead of absorbing and purifying the star scourge he absorbs it and uses it to fight the God's and reclaim their power of the Crystal, but once he gets to the Crystal it rejects him, as the Crystal would have the power to help him become the strongest as its Eos essentially, angry and frustrated he now gathers his strength to beat anyone that is deemed worthy to own that power by mastering his star scourge power over the next 3 thousand years, to destroy him, the champion of the God's as he believes he doesn't need that power anymore as he can get stronger on his own.

Really entertaining theory and video as usual though I kinda gotta point out that Regis is capable of channeling magic from his own body as seen in Kingsglaive, Nyx is capable of it too once he gains full access to the power of the Lucii. I think the reason Noctis bottles it up is because he doesn't have as much practice with it and no one else besides Regis could really teach him about channeling magic which is why he can absorb it but not dispel it. Noctis was also only a fully realized king for one night so if it's a skill that develops over time with maturity Noctis probably would've never had a chance to utilize/discover it on his final night still alive especially with such a big task ahead of him. I like to think it was the fact he never practiced it to Regis' level of mastery due to circumstances of his rushed ascension to the throne seeing as Regis in King's Tale was able to cast magic freely without requiring flasks while he was probably only a few years older than Noctis in XV.

I'm afraid I had to disagree with the theory that he was illegitimate, because the name he was given at birth was Ardyn Lucis Caleum. By old traditions illegitimate sons didn't have the right to carry father's name. Ardyn must have had a second brother who received his father's sword as the king's successor hence Ardyn was unable to parry the attack. The other option could be that the king was married twice (his first wife - Ardyn's mother- could have died) and that the successor was Ardyn's half-brother.

Anyway, So FFXV has really retained its roots as an FF title: namely: the existence of powerful Crystals, and also its roots in the Fabula Nova Crystallis that Square used for XIII, versus XIII, and type-0. So the above makes sense in that Square Enix did create a whole mythology and world of characters for versus XIII and what would later be renamed FFXV.

just curious about how you got Genji means two beginnings from, because it doesn't in Japanese. sorry, I know I'm nitpicking here but as a Japanese, it kind of bothers me. it does have meaning of the beginning though, but can't figure out where that two came from. the best I could come up with is that Genji is another name for a samurai clan, and one of the well known history of this clan is about a story of two brothers. I forgot the most of my history class in junior high school so I won't go into details but, at the end, older brother exiled younger one and eventually got him to die, because he feared that this younger brother could actually become powerful someday and would take his position. it still relates to Ardyn's story so maybe it doesn't matter this way or another, but just had to burst out so. anyway, I love your videos and do enjoy heaps. keep up the good work!!

Hmmmm...I agree with you until the part about Dave and family being direct descendants of Eos. They MUST be deeply connected with the (magical) history of the land, definitely guardians, but there is still too little evidence to be certain how they are related to Eos. Also forgive me if someone has pointed this out already: IN GAME, I'm pretty sure the "Ge" in "Gentiana" is pronounced like a K, or "ゲン" in "Genji", instead of like in "gentle". "Caelum" is not "K-lum" (which is its proper pronunciation, I think), but "Ch" like in "chapter". I say this because I play in Japanese voice and English subtitles, and hear those names pronounced as such more than once. Can't help but wince every time I hear you pronounce Gentiana's name

Ok squares story was so all over the place. I doubt square thought of all of this and planned for this to happen. I believe humanities life was in grave peril and a champion or savior must arise and ardyn was chosen obviously but humans have a huge list for power and then izunia betrayed him in this process and became the rightful heir to lucis and the ring to harness the power of death which is the most powerful of all. Ardyn being banished wants to get payback at his brother and destroy his name which is use the scourge ifirt and master his long acquired powers to kill noctis. Also I think in the next couple of dlcs I hope we see banishment consume ardyns chi if you will and see how much pain and suffering is involved in his life.
