BG, I too like the modeling the Universal Construction Fleet. The COE Freightliner equipment toter is a great one! The Freuhauf flat bed trailer behind it would fit it well. Spike's got to haul all the concrete drain pipe, somehow!! Looks great👍👍👍!

@@BGsModelWorkshop I built mine back in the 70s when it was first released and I remember the cab didn't want to sit right on the frame and I had to get creative with the front axle

The rig looks much like many trucks I have seen on our highways. The weathering is typical, and needs nothing further to make it convincing. Obviously built by someone with considerable experience. Nice work Bryan.

Great job Bryan. Especially on fixing the issues with the kit. Either all black lines or black electrical and red and blue air lines. All black I'd leave em straight, red n blue curled. Might have been fun to build but they ain't fun to drive

Those are aggressive looking sidewalls on those tires. Bryan is this the model many complain about the seam running down the cab when you extend it from a day cab. Nice build.
@BGsModelWorkshop3 жыл бұрын
Yes it is David! The seem is very hard to match up and requires a lot of sanding. The raised rivet detail makes that even more difficult if you don't want to remove them.

I have found coffee lightly brushed onto items makes a convincing rust , tamiya must have based the globe liner on the freightliner , maybe the Pete's too. How about a 1/14 freightliner ?
@kenswonger47385 ай бұрын
just wondering which do you like better.the older semi truck's.with metal axles or the newer semi's with just plastic rear axles .their harder to put wheels on.
@BGsModelWorkshop5 ай бұрын
Hi Ken, I think I prefer the older version with metal axles. They can be a little finicky to assembly also, but I like that the metal axle won't sag if I decide to add a trailer..
@Daleshobbies6123 жыл бұрын
Great build. I am building this model right now and you said that a gary g has a tutorial over the front axle. I have looked everywhere for that and I can’t find the video. Could you send me a link to that video? Thanks.
@BGsModelWorkshop3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. I'll search it out. Been a while since I uploaded this one.😊
@BGsModelWorkshop3 жыл бұрын
Ok, so the video I said Gary has at 'Car dreams in styrene" is how to set up a jig for wheel alignment. Not how to work on the front axle of this particular truck.
Can the cab be raised with this model or glued in place?
@BGsModelWorkshop3 жыл бұрын
The cab can be raised. But the bumper is in the way and the hinged are extremely delicate

what does being here in 1970 got to do with anything
@Thunderchicken695 жыл бұрын
Reason for the 1970 plate is because that kit was released in 1970, and White Freightliner doesn’t even exist anymore, White and Freightliner merged, then split, then White merged with Western Star and then split, then in the 90’s they merged with GMC and then went bankrupt, Freightliner is still around and has become a laughing stock in my opinion, they don’t make any good looking trucks now.

Orientation of the drive axles / shafts and the placement of parts is AWFUL in AMT's instruction sheets.... AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL instructions..... I'm doing a Peterbilt 359 and the internet has been more help than anything on the instruction sheet.... yeah, you have to tweak some stuff on all of this series, that's expected... but a simple redo of the instructions would improve them 100 percent
@BGsModelWorkshop3 жыл бұрын
Fully agreed man!! Next one I build, I'm just I'm just chucking the instructions and building blind!! 😎😊
