Alfalfa is very mow tolerant because of its incredibly long taproot. Needs ph of 6.5 to 7.5 to do well though. Love seeing the 400 pull the 4x14 . Growing up we farmed 485 tillable acres with two 400s, two Ms, a H for light pulling and A for truck crops and gardening. The two Ms had front mounted cultivators that never came off; used for cultivating only. Back then you cultivated every week until crops became too tall. So cultivating was a big deal. But the two 400s ran, rocked, and ruled the farm. Man those were the days.

Thanks for taking the time showing different combinations with horsepower and different attachments being pulled 👍 really enjoying and learned

I like how you have the tag still on it from the auction. I do the same thing until they fall off and I’m liking the 400. I like them all, but I like how it pulls the bottom.

I don't know farming like a lot of these people but that 400 is a sweet tractor! If it has down pressure and 60hp that would make it a do it all tractor. It should be able to run a round baler and most of what a small farm needs whether or not the small tractors are better for some tasks or not is another thing. It sure sounds nice and quiet! Hope you're videoing you disking the field kind of curious how it looks when you're all finished. Do you have a drone? Being you're a "hobby farm" because you get to use your tractors that way, you can take your time putting everything in. You can't complain about how well the 400 plowed that field. Another cool video, Thanks!
@FarmallFanatic6 күн бұрын
Oh yea, plenty of drone footage on the channel. These 400s were the big tractor on a lot of dairy farms back in the day.

We had a 400 diesel. Start on gas ,then diesel did lots of actes of corn,also had an m and and h. HAD corn pickers on them, i ran the m , wasnt my favorite , also disc with the h till i broke off one of thetricycle tires The 400 we used for discing, and pulled a loader behind for loading pea vines had three olivers that ran backwards with johnson bar forward amd reverse. Had sickle bars on front to cut pea vines😅
