I actually did this too, i always abused the top-down sword attack to heal since 80% of the time the swords dont hit you xD I also used quick focus for maximum healing power. Thinking back now, shape of unn would have helped xD

That scene was the selection of the Hollow Knight. A truly empty vessel, with no mind, no will, nothing for the Radiance to latch onto and corrupt it with. Or, so the Pale King thought. In the words of the White Lady, "it was tarnished by an idea instilled." That was the scene at the end of the Path of Pain. That moment with the Pale King ruined the pure emptiness of the Hollow Knight. The Radiance latched onto that shard of emotion and used it to escape the Hollow Knight in the form of the Infection. Don't feel bad for the Knight. It served it's purpose and returned to the Void. The Void isn't a creature, it is simply a force of nature. Perfectly content to sit calmly in the Abyss as long as nobody messes with it. Now that its enemy, the Radiance is dead, it recalls the constructs the Pale King made with it and returns to it's calm state. The final 6 completion points aren't too bad. One comes from Nightmare King Grimm, one from the final Mask Shard, and the other 4 in Godhome.

I do think the Hollow Knight is a tragic figure though. First of all, the siblings and the void only came into being because the King was ready to try anything to beat the infection. They were all being bred to be emotionless and feel no sort of joy or sorrow so they could stay chained up for God knows how many millennia just because normal bugs didn't have much willpower to withstand it on their own. The Hollow Knight was never given a choice, they just kind of decided he was The One and left all the other "failures" (which means they weren't pure and felt emotion! So thousands of poor little dark bug souls got thrown in the abyss like garbage for daring to feel). All the Hollow Knight wanted was a little kindness, not to get fancy statues of himself and become a sacrifice. And now there's the burden of "you fucked up, you weren't supposed to love anyone let alone the king, now people are dead because of you" + being locked up for good + being taken over by the infection and attacking against his will + trying to hurt himself and it not working Gosh damn I made myself feel even more depressed. I don't care if the Hunter is wrong and all the beings from the abyss are naturally calm and unfeeling, but every living being does have a capacity for emotion, and it shouldn't be considered a sin. Anyway, I think your explanation of the lore is the best and most crisp summary I've seen so far!

If you bring the flower to the grave, the flowers will grow there endlessly so you can still do all routes. I keep forgetting to tell you that: Try Diarrhea Build (D. Crest + Flukenest + S. Shroom + D. Focus + G. Womb) just for memes. It's basically all charms that synnergize with D. Crest. Btw, when the Pale King was talking during Birthplace cutscene, did you recognize his voice? It's the same voice for Higher Beings tablets. Cool detail, right? Void Heart is technically the strongest charm imaginable, costing no charm notches at all and making you in control of all void, but The Knight never uses it to full potential outside of Radiance fight. Gameplay-wise, I can see why Knight doesn't do that, but story-wise, I see no reason why he wouldn't. Oh wow, Merg. I knew people like this existed, but I never saw someone on youtube not kill Hollow Knight again with Void Heart thus getting ending 2, and went straight for ending 3. When you killed Lurien, it was night... When you killed Monomon, the sun was rising... When you killed Herrah, it was morning... And when you challenged Radiance, it was daytime, and the sun was Radiance. No seriously, it was the exact same arena. You won't need this anymore, but every time you enter a dream (which is what you do to fight Radiance), your HP is fully restored and soul is kept as it was. So... You were wasting soul by healing before dream nailing hollow knight. I love precept 46. Sounds like something an endgame player would say. So... You are almost done with the game. All that's left is flower quest, Nightmare King, and Godhome. And White Defender 5 times if you want.

in case you didn't piece it together, the radiance is quite literally the infection that's spreading through hallownest, and the hollow knight is containing it in them (thus the vessel thing), but after a while, it was too difficult to hold it in because his body grew weaker. the radiance that you fight is you going inside the hollow knight's mind and fighting off the infection from the inside, while killing the hollow knight would result in you becoming the vessel so you would be containing the infection (please like so merg can see this!)

liked, also... i didn't play the game myself but i already think... that... the Hollow Knight which holds the infection, holds it 'cuz there were like... 2 cutscenes that proves his *EMPTILESSNESS* by proving that he has emotions and stuff... he cared about the protagonist at the moment when u get Void Heart (the obtaining sound is twisted tho) and the Path of Pain cutscene... the Pale King cared about him, making him emotional, and creating something that Radiance could make the infection corrupt him and prove that he is now... *EMPTILESSFUL* which means that like... 2 endings when the protagonist (aka Hollow King since he also has King's *thing...*) just absorbs and seals the Radiance's infection, are truly endings, because we obtained Void Heart, WHICH MEANS WE DON'T HAVE A -FUCKING- REFLECTION FROM NOW ON, and we are truly empty because... Void Heart and all that together means the Radiance is dead and the infection is sealed forever, also Hornet being the Dreamer that protects the protagonist... probably? without the Void Heart, everything kinda repeats but with a twist, THE MEMORIAL IS STILL OLD, HALLOWENEST IS ALSO OLD, EVERYTHING IS POPULATED, THE STAGWAYS ARE PROBS GONNA LIVE AGAIN, AND THE PREVIOUS HOLLOW KNIGHT IS -FUCKING- DEAD! *godmaster ending time* somehow after we truly complete the godhome and have nothing else to do, the being that accesses the godhome -FUCKING- dies and the monster that holds *EVERY* Shade EVER, including the protagonist and the fully-grown Hollow Knight, escapes from the -FUCKING- dead body and... something else happens afterwards? when u give the Delicate Flower to that being, the void god monster thing never escapes and both the -FUCKING- dead being and void monster god thing disappear, leaving the Delicate Flower laying on the floor... ok im -FUCKING- done and im kinda sorry for using the -FUCKING- swears :T

Gi ta there must have been other ways out, right? Cause there were other vessels scattered throughout the kingdom. For instance, the broken vessel, and the vessels you see in nosk’s den. Also the one that the player gets the mothwing cloak from, in the first hornet fight. I don’t think the abyss was as tightly sealed as it seems. Honestly though, that’s one of the biggest unsolved mysteries in the game.

I guess this is an appropriate time for some lore - - - - - - - - - - An old god, the Radiance, infected most of Hallownest's bugs and they became part of her hive mind, so the Pale King and the White Lady created thousands of vessels in the Abyss where they become creatures of void to attempt to stop her. Every vessel who wasn't devoid of emotion was left in the Abyss (the siblings) until the Hollow Knight was chosen. (A few escaped such as the Broken Vessel and yourself (and Zote?)) - Hornet was the child of the King and Herrah btw The Hollow Knight was sealed in the Black Egg by the 3 Dreamers and the plague was contained. But after a while the infection leaked out because the Vessel wasn't truly hollow. The King and Queen went into hiding and the King eventually died in his Palace. The kingdom fell to ruin. This is where you come in. You return from beyond Hallownest to break the seals and either take the place of the Hollow Knight since you are a Pure Vessel, or destroy the infection at its core once you unite with the void and consume the Radiance I'd highly recommend Mossbag's videos for a more (but not the Grimm Troupe or Godmaster ones until you've finished them)

There Is another ending You get it by beating all the Pantheons in the gods home. But there are 2 endings in this ending the bad one and the good one you get the good one by giving the delicate flower to the godseeker in the junk pit The bad one by not giving it. Stop. The king sacrificed the children that he had with the White Lady (The Queen) to the void to make them void creatures (the king was a higher being, hence the phrase, "Born of God and Void") so they would be able to fight the radiance and contain the infection. But for this he needed a creature with no emotions or dreams or desires as the radiance's infection manifests itself with the help of the victim's thoughts or dreams. Void is the natural enemy to the radiance so the king wanted to have one of his children as a void creature without thoughts to contain the infection. He sacrificed all the vessels (children) who were not fit for the task or had thoughts (which is why you see all the bodies of vessels fall from the top of the abyss in the birthplace cutscene) and once he found the right vessel to contain the radiance, he sealed the abyss behind him. As the chosen vessel, the hollow knight looked back at its birthplace one last time as it saw all of its dead siblings, with a face of what i assume to be fear, sadness for its siblings or a mix of both But the hollow knight failed because it did have emotions and thoughts (It spent time with the king or thought it was its duty to protect hallownest or desired to be loved by its father) Our knight however, as the white lady says, can contain the void. Also Zote is probably not a sibling or a void creature in general either (just saying.) Hornet is also not a voud creature. Hornet is the child the king had with Herrah (in exchange for her becoming a dreamer) and because she was not mixed with the void, she is the only child of the king to have a gender. She is referee to as the gendered child by the white lady as well as midwife.

well no, they aren't. That's the whole point of the birthplace sequence. The Knight wouldn't hold onto that memory of being casted away so tightly if it had no meaning to them. Also, The Knight wouldn't have crawled out of The Abyss or come back to Hallownest if they truly had no will. And besides, The Knight came before The Hollow Knight. If The Knight was truly hollow then they would've been chosen and not HK. The White Lady says they're hollow (kind of), but that's literally it. Everything else points to The Knight not being hollow.

Once you get the voidheart, that’s the implication that you’ve truly become absolutely hollow which is what let’s you control void and destroy the source of the infection. In this ending, you don’t continue the stasis, you destroy the problem for good.

After all the fights you'll get a special reward (same for White Defender) -You should really do the Flower Quest in the next episode -You missed an arcane egg back in the birthplace -There are still other endings! Try to just kill the Hollow Knight instead of going inside its mind! -You really shouldn't forget about Divine now! You still have two fragile charms left! -Radiance is a moth, that's the reason why she's so fluffy! -Ye you're right, Zote is not void -You should check out some of the other secret area's of the White Palace since they're kind of important and of course, interesting -There are still a TON left, especially Godhome.
