That’s a good idea. I was in the hospital last week, and one day ordered penne with meatballs. The pasta was mush 🙁but the meatballs were good. I sprinkled a little salt and parmesan cheese on top. It was ok then.

I agree with you Larry. Stouffer's has always been my go to. I add a bit of crushed oregano, a drizzle of olive oil, and some mozzarella and parmesan cheese. Plus a few red pepper flakes. Pretty good.

Banquet is always a good bet for a good cheap meal. Marie Callender's is good too. Never tried this Cafe Steamers flavor, but a couple others didn't impress me at all. Never tried Lean Cuisine either. I've always liked Stouffers, but usually have their Lasagna.

Fortunately for you if you do end up having to do Surströmming, this year the non-bulging cans (the fresh ones) are what’s most readily available. The bulging ones are the most sought after but rarer. Reason for this, we Swedes didn’t really get that much herring this year… Norway swiped most of it for making fish foods for the salmon farms. And if you do Surströmming… please do it the proper way for a change from the others eating it directly from the can. Open the can under running water, rinse the herring, then serve on some tunnbröd (a type of Swedish flatbread) with some diced potatoes, onions, sour cream and dill. And of course vodka on the side. You will find it most enjoyable I am certain.

I can definitely say that Stouffer's isn't always consistent with their spaghetti batches. Sometimes they are really good. And other times it' taste like a generic batch that's missing something.

Larry, I have eaten all 5 meals and I still say on this item that banquets is the best and especially for the price, my fave idea for the best is make your own spaghetti, use frozen Armour meatballs to nuke, & your fave Prego jarred sauce & they have many varieties & it only takes a little longer to make than to nuke the frozen meals

My mom likes to make stuffed peppers. She doesn't do anything fancy, just some meat (usually turkey burger) mixed with rice, salt, and pepper. It's stuffed into the pepper halves, topped with cheese and baked in basic tomato sauce from a can. With some mashed potatoes, it comes out just right. One night, a few years ago, she wanted to try the Stouffer's stuffed peppers. I couldn't believe just how bland they were. No taste in the meat, no taste in the tomato sauce, nothing. It mostly tasted like green peppers and water. I'm assuming the water taste is because it was frozen. We decided never again.

Hereford's beef and chicken meatball packets from Walmart top any of those. You do have to make your own spaghetti noodles, though. I eat them without noodles. If I do want noodles I just start the noodles and when they have 5 minutes left I drop in the meatball packet.

Put the can opener in the can under water and let the fumes out! ;) Then take the can up and open it up and pour out the liquid. Make sure you have tunnbröd (flat bread), butter for the bread, boiled (mashed) potatoes (should be made on almond potatoes), sour cream and some chopped red onions. You can also chop some chive. Butter a piece of flat bread, chop up a fish file or two depending on size (they don't taste what they smell) and spread the pieces over the bread and the potatoes, top with sour cream, red onion and chives then make a wrap and enjoy!

I don't know what it is about spaghetti and meatballs but I've always hated the frozen varieties of it. I'd stick with the canned stuff whenever I wanted it but not making it fresh. My favorite frozen food Stoeffers meal was always their 'Grandma's Chicken and Rice Bake'. I eventually would throw some shredded cheese on it near the end of the cooking cycle whenever I felt like having a bit more cheesy taste to it. Since I'm more serious about my dietary intake now days I don't eat any of that stuff but that frozen casserole was a frequent purchase.

I always make my own homemade spaghetti with a jar of pasta sauce as a base. First I cook 1 lb. of 80-20 ground beef 10 to 20 minutes on a lower flame until it is well browned into nice chopped chunks. Then I add, olive oil, mushrooms, a can of whole tomatoes, half a can of tomato paste, onions, garlic, basil, oregano, paprika, nutmeg, and the sauce and let simmer slowly over a low flame for about 20 minutes. While that’s simmering with a lid on the pan, I begin cooking my Italian #10 Thick Spaghetti Pasta. First I begin with with icy cold bottled spring water with olive oil in that water and bring it a boil. Then turning off the heat, I let cool a bit - then about 2 minutes later, I add the pasta to the water, cover, and then cook over medium flame until the it is al dente with a bit of snap still left in it. Then I drain it, but do not rinse. Checking on the sauce, I taste test it. I’ll adjust it by adding some raw sugar or more paste to help thicken it. Once the flavor has a nice wow factor, I’ll mix it with the pasta sauce! It is ready to serve with garlic bread, grated cheese, salt and pepper if wish to add that! Serve with a nice salad, wine, or some fresh lemon-lime-raspberry sparkling water! Bon Appetite. I don’t believe I could choke down microwaveable frozen Spaghetti and Meatball meals! UGH

If you truly want to go high end, Rao's has a frozen meatballs and sauce for about $12 regular price. You do need to make your own pasta (even Scooter can do that), but you get a solid 2 portions with the 6 meatballs. The sauce is nothing fancy and bland and lacking in quantity, but the meatballs are by far the best frozen I've had.
