It's actually kind of amazing that the show starts with our main character dying. We find out more over time, and while it can feel like a storytelling trick to keep you invested, because well, from how it looks he's the only one left since we see nobody else, so we kind of know everybody's gonna die. Still, once you actually get through it all and back to where we started it hits and it hits hard. The fact that the music is pretty beautiful and melancholic helps a lot. When I started this show, I did not expect the music to go that way, but here we are.

another really awesome detail is, every episode, where gary is floating through space, minute after minute is running out, that beginning is always exact one minute long. i love this so god damn much

Ik people love the second season and all but those ten minutes in the first season leading up to Gary's death dug deep. The tones in the music really helped give a deep sentimental tone
