I think if Supersport split rugby onto a separate KZbin channel and focus a lot on that they can become a highly viewed channel

2016 Fiji won both the HSBC Sevens series AND the first Olympic gold medal on rugby's return to the games. Their coach never won 'Coach of the year'. 2020 nothing counts because of Covid. 2024 France only finished 5th in the sevens series & won Olympic gold with home advantage. Somehow their coach wins 'Coach of the year'. Typical French World rugby politics. Just like they pickpocketed the 2023 RWC.

in Fairness, France is holding its own, they are the only NH team that can humiliate a SH team, if they show up for it, that last part is their inconsistency that has ensured they have never won the world cup

Rassie deserves all the Glory. But some have to understand that rugby does not evolve around one person. I feel we must also look at the amount of work put into by all. The coach who won there is a reason. As he may have done something better that Rassie can also learn from. In future.

Richie McCaw won WPOTY in 2009 when the Boks whitewashed New Zealand, won the RC and won a British and Irish Lions tour series. So I have a very dim view of their so-called awards.

Make DuPont Coach of the year. Maybe Rassie could get coach of the year if they win the next World Cup, but probably not.

Finn Russell best no. 10. Duhan vd Merwe no 11 got a hat-trick of tries v Eng. (Previously scored the best solo try v Eng seen for a decade). Three from SA has scored 50 tries for Scotland. Duhan 30, Kyle Steyn 13, Pierre Schoeman 7. W P Nel scored in W Cup 2019.
@Karma-qt4ji2 күн бұрын
Duhan van der Merwe is a big guy who can run when he has the ball in hand and that is all he can do. Defensively, he is probably the worst winger in top tier international rugby. Finn Russell is a good player but the 10 who has played the most consistently well at 10 this year was Marcus Smith.

@@Wide-eye Actually it's a lot more than 4. Between November 2022 and the end of the pool stages in 2023, he had conceded 1 against New Zealand, 1 against SA, 2 against England and 3 against Ireland. That's 7 in 4 games, and Scotland only won 1 of them. And who has he scored his 30 against? Scotland are currently in 6th place on the ranking, and DvdM has scored a total of 3 against France (one against an experimental side in the RWC warm up), 3 against Argentina, 1 against Ireland, and none against SA or New Zealand and a couple of weeks ago, he was up against a Springbok backline with almost none of their first choice players. Sorry, but those are simply not the statistics of a player of the year (in his position). You think he is as good as James Lowe, Caleb Clarke, Kurt Lee Arendse, Louis Bielle-Biarrey this year? Scoring 30 tries against USA, Uruguay and Japan is not all that fantastic mate, especially when you leak tries against the teams you should be aspiring to beat.
