May 19 2017, Paramount Theatre, Austin | 'Jimmy LaFave's Songwriter Revue' | Jimmy LaFave's final words and singing onstage, after being honored for almost 4 hours by his fellow-songwriters. Fragment of the live streaming as seen on Eliza Gilkyson's Facebook page.
For the last time Jimmy LaFave - in good spirit, still joking -
sings 'Goodnight, Irene.' He tells his fans: "I love you all. I'm sorry. I've been trying to get on stage for the last 30 minutes."
While the audience stands up for an ovation, Jimmy brings his teenage son Jackson on stage and asks the fans to look after him. "This is my son, Jackson," he tells his fans. "Take care of him for me. Please. I love him so very, very much. He's a great kid." and
"Take him into the community and nurture him. Thank you so much." Thank YOU, Jimmy, for the wonderful music you gave us. We will see and hear you in our dreams and in reality. Your music and spirit lives on through your recordings.
