@@CD-vb9fi SNES was one of the consoles my parents didn't buy as I grew up. The NES, Sega, GBA, 3DO, N64, and PSX were the consoles that entered the house in steps from my baby days up to early high school. So, I wouldn't have gotten to know the SNES greats like Chrono Trigger, LoZ:LttP, FF4-6, Super Metroid, and Megaman X1-X3 at all if not for emulators. Of course, my early teen curiosity also had me trying games like Bahamat Lagoon, Fire Emblem, and FF Mystic Quest as well.

And now, he ALWAYS Ball-bombs the Dark Green Space Pirates, instead of wasting a missile. ... All you, pal! I haven't watched this... Because he's asleep, now! But!! I cannot WAIT to blow his imagination out with THIS one!! We've only made it to the Mist Cave, together... Because you keep fighting the same enemy groups Over and Over. Personally, I think the music in IV is even better than V & VI but that's probably just my nostalgia. I think objectively those two would be considered by most (including me) the "better" games overall.

My first exposure to Final Fantasy "II" was at a friend's house in early high school. Another friend had brought over a VHS tape of gameplay. So I sit and watch FF2 here while they're playing D&D. I had played FF1 on the NES so I was intrigued. But I was so impressed by the fact that these were defined characters having dialog with each other, actually portraying blocked dramatic scenes. And the Active Time Battle was mind-blowing. This was also one of my first tastes of SNES graphics. It suffices to say that this made a huge impression on me. Thank you, UCBVG, for covering this!

So, for that alone, a heartfelt thank you for all of your wonderful effort!! You've put out incredible retrospective type videos while showing people literally EVERY trick in the book for each of these games but you're going to another level (for me) when you talk about Final Fantasy IV. While I have been patiently waiting for your Dragon Warrior IV video since you finished Dragon Warrior III; I would say this is an even better surprise due to my "subjective" love of this game! 😆 As much as I love the early Dragon Warrior games, Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI, my nostalgia for Final Fantasy IV is second to none. I've beaten this game in many different versions and started diving into Romhacks as well but I would bet you will be showing us things we STILL didn't know about. The removal of the Darkness ability in the US version really hurt the Paladin fight. Darkness consumes his HP in order to use it, so in the original the player would know that and just let the Dark Knight drain its own HP with repeated use of Darkness. That aspect is completely lost in the US version.

This game was all my friends were talking about in 6th grade back in the early 90s. Was looking through old yearbooks recently and a friend signed "good luck finding that pink item.". That item was shown in the manual but we never figured out where it was or what it did.

Although I'd been gaming since Atari, I count this one as my first REAL game experience in general, when I realized just how good they could really be. The music, graphics, atmosphere, the sense of foreboding vibe all combined to form a truly memorable experience that stuck with me for the rest of my life. I've been an atmosphere/vibes-addict ever since in gaming and frankly, it changed my life for the better.

I loved this game so much back in the day. I never got to play it on my SNES so I got it on my PS1 when it came bundled with chrono trigger. I never beat it because I got as far as that the one Palom and Porom scene. It was too sad to continue after that as a kid. I wish I did though knowing what I know now, but Tellah would of been painful as well...

It is so fun to revisit the old SNES version with all its charm. The pixel remaster with the tedium of grinding for rare monsters and elusive summons for trophies sometimes makes me forget how great this game is.

That would be a fantastic game to cover as well but knowing how much time it probably takes him to "beat", edit, etc -- I'm happy with what he has put out and played some games I never would have -- Point and click style on NES for sure. However, I would certainly be happy with any (or all) of the Koei games from the 8, 16 or 32 bit eras if he got around to covering them because these videos are so well done. Rise of the Phoenix and Liberty or Death are two of my favorites by Koei that I wouldn't have had the patience for as a teenager but I've played through them a few times now in the past 3-4 years...very addicting. I haven't played any of the 8-16 bit Romance of the Three Kingdom's games so I can't make a comparison, but RotP was awesome in my opinion -- all it took was finding a PDF of the game manual online to figure out what I needed to do and I was hooked. Very few guides or even just "play throughs" online last I looked but like LoD, once you get going you really don't need one.

On a secondary note -- You may already know this, but Jason Graves does some fantastic reviews and he's covered both Uncharted Waters games in his "Every SNES RPG" playlist. He's young too, probably 20 years younger than most of us here and I think he does a great job with his reviews. He's got a more in depth style of coverage which is refreshing since many are geared towards the Twitter 140 characters or less mentality. Within his reviews gives little tips of not so obvious issues he'd run into and I'm talking games that most of us wouldn't think about even playing, but even if we did back in the day were huge headaches or the rental that didn't come with instructions -- the type that would make most people quit games and never play them again -- once you see the list, you'll know what I'm talking about. He's also got a really good, in depth review of "Chrono Cross" titled "Old disowned Video" under his "Not every SNES RPG" playlist. It's about an hour long -- gave me a whole new perspective on that game and he should really "relist" it so more people get to hear it. I was amongst those who didn't really care for it and haven't played it in almost 20 years, but because of that review, I'm very interested in playing it again. He's got some long plays from a few years ago in the style of UCBVG, which is fine because nobody does it better than this guy (and his dogs). For Jason Graves his reviews are where it's at and is a very underrated channel.
